So what!!!! Am I not allowed to criticise performances now? He was at fault for the goal and cost us two points whilst some other poster indicated it was Rio's and Evans' fault. Bollocks, it was Evra's responsibility and he cost us two points. It is clear for all to see that you see no fault, therefore you are the ultimate top red where nobody can do wrong.

And some people can say he made a mistake without it looking like there is an agenda. When someone just cannot stop their criticism of a player they are supposed to support, you have to wonder. You might say he also saved us a goal with a terrific header of the ball, but I guess that angle wasn't as interesting?

He was at fault for the goal, OK, but he did a lot of good stuff in that match too. I had him down as one of our best men. Are you equally adamant of Rooney losing us two points in the Rooney thread btw? That was much worse.

He was at fault for the goal but you clearly have an agenda against Evra.

Just like I had with Ashley Young too? Bottom line is this, Evra has not been at his best for the last couple of seasons and whilst he continues to run down the wing and only jogs back, it leaves our defence totally exposed. I mean, of all teams to score two goals against us, it had to be Cardiff City, the new kids on the block. It shouldn't have been like that to be honest. Every dog has his day and he has had his time. He was 4 times best left back in the Premier league, but that was a long time ago and it is about time we either get a new left back and let Patrice go in peace, because he has earned it or we try and get Fabio up to scratch. I have nothing against Evra, just that his interview and his spouting off about certain players or even managers showed a total disrespect and it left a nasty taste in the mouth. Plus he didn't do himself any favours whilst he was in South Africa either. Anyway, that is the past now, should he leave at the end of next season and go to Monaco, then I can only wish him all the best.

Well you go around criticizing Evra in every thread where he is mentioned (iirc) and do the same with Ronaldo. I'd call you the ultimate hater/anti fanboy, before calling anybody a top red. Chill out.

Yes, the World Cup qualifier thread and this one. As for Ronaldo, he was a great player for us but, and I stress this, BUT I was never a fan of his. Great players come and go and they turn teams into winners, and for me, Giggs, Keane and Cantona are the only ones are players who stick in my mind as players who gave their all for the club. Ronaldo did too, but when he agreed about Blatters comments, again, just like my recent post, it left a bitter taste in my mouth. As for being ultimate hater/anti-fanboy. I just like to watch my team play to the best of their abilities just like the next fan, but I like being objective too. I can go into hyperbole about certain Manchester United players and criticise others. It is all part of being a fan. Another thing, I also want Moyes to succeed a Manchester United unlike a great deal here who wanted him out after the first game. Just as you have the right to criticise the manager, I have that right to criticise players who are not pulling their weight and are too lazy.

You can bet your bottom dollar I was. I was one of those who said it should have been a red card.

Agree 100%, but the way I see it (and I could be wrong) you deliberately wade in and target players you don't like ALL THE TIME. It gets a little tiresome, and annoys people.

So, I criticise Rio, Vidic, Valencia, Evans, Jones, Smalling, Welbeck, RVP, Cleverley, Young, Januzaj, De Gea, Fabio and Rafa, Rooney, Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs etc etc ad nauseum...please feel free to include anyone I have missed and then please do a search for each and every player I have criticised for the current Manchester United team.

Your missing the point. I focused on 2 players, who you always go into threads and criticize all day. As for the rest - maybe criticize less and enjoy football more? I don't know. You are missing the point I'm making.

Then I can be included along with other posters who criticise all other players in other threads, either justified or unjustified. I don't read those threads because it is as you say "tiresome." It could be Moyes, it could be Joe Hart being the England goalkeeper, it could be Joe Bloggs from across the road. It just doesn't matter, since I cannot read those threads because there is nothing positive in them, it is just criticism, after criticism, after criticism. Nothing good comes of it, yet somehow the whole world and his dog love to criticise. However, criticise a player for diving, or criticise a player for his interview or his lack of defensive prowess against Cardiff, the whole world is going against you. It is ok though, I have a thick skin. I have said what I have had to say about Evra and I hope he has a good match tonight.

That's good. Did you also go on a similar rampage concerning Rooney's awful miss which cost us two points?

It was a clear red, btw - 100% agree with you!

Your first bolded part totally negates your second bolded statement. If he had been sent off, he wouldn't have been in a position to miss now. He also wouldn't have been on the pitch to either score or to assist in Evra's goal. So, whether we like it or not, we were lucky and Cardiff were unlucky.

It doesn't, as he wasn't sent off, scored a goal shortly thereafter and made an assist. My question therefore stands, do you criticise him as much as you do Evra for losing two points? Whether or not he should've been sent off for that is irrelevant. If I recall correctly, Reading should have had a sending off too.

He should have been and it would have affected the rest of the match. What on earth does Reading have to do with this I don't know. If what you mean is Cardiff, then yes, Medel should have seen red and a free-kick given to Manchester United instead.

O god, hearing the news about Evra on the radio this morning, this is insane!

I doubt he'll leave. Baines is a crocked and Evra has shown great form this season. Considering the depth we have in the squad at taking free kicks, I can't see what Baines would bring to the party now - as good a player as he is. Moyes knows the problem areas in the squad so replacing a quality LB with another one, but at some inflated cost, would be suicide and the money could be spent elsewhere. Buying a long term replacement for Evra in the summer, then yes, that makes sense if Moyes doesn't like Fabio.
Just been reading on Teamtalk how Evra has been commenting how strong United are and to judge them come the summer.....he ain't leaving, he loves the club.

Why does he shit himself against Lennon? It has happened so many times it must now be a mental thing. He'll be 33 in May and doesn't look fit enough at his age to be running up and down that left flank any more. Moyes clearly doesn't fancy him anyway and he'll be gone in the summer. Although I think the Baines ship has sailed now too, no point in signing someone who is 29 soon. We need to be on the look out for a top class left back now, ahead of the summer.

With both Kagawa and then Welbeck drifting centrally, Evra tried to provide a different option by going down the left flank, and without cover, he was always going to be caught out of position.

I think we all love Evra, he's been a great servant and character at Utd and still has bags of talent, but we need to judge him based on where he's at, not where he was.

For me, while not quite as obvious there are shades of Gary Neville starting to creep in. Positionally he's never been the best but fitness, pace and enthusiasm allowed him to make up for it.

The conundrum is that he adds a lot to our attacking play but these days when he gets caught high up the pitch he can't get back. Wingers also go round him far too easily when he actually is in position. Most of the time when we're attacked down his side I find myself wondering where he is.

I don't know why we don't just give him a few games on the left wing, let him forget about defending. Given the form of our wingers. Oh wait I do know, because we don't have anyone to fill in at LB.

I think he'll be gone in the summer one way or another, the timing I right and I don't think anyone could begrudge him a move back to France on a free at nearly 33.

He's starting to really irritate me. His manner on the pitch seems to be so 'I don't really give a feck that I'm hopelessly out of position, I've just been skinned for the 20th time by that winger, or I can't really be bothered to track my man from a corner'.

I love Paddy, and he's been a great servant. But he's becoming/become a liability.

I'm all for replacing Evra as long as we get a top quality replacement, Baines is not a significant upgrade.

Agree with you here. For ~12m maybe, but Everton will surely be looking for at least 15m and that price for a 29 going on 30 LB is just not worth it. I really hope Moyes doesn't go for him anymore and look to fight Chelsea for Luke Shaw.

Probably... there clearly is something about Lennon because he seemingly doesn't have a clue whenever he comes up against him.

This was only accentuated when Lennon went off and Townsend came on - as Evra seemed to do slightly better up against him (but then it's probably easier to defend against inverted wingers?).

The problem is that there are really very few ready made replacements out there.

Shaw's inexperienced, Baines isn't actually that amazing, etc.

Coentrao would make the most sense, given his age and style.

I think it's because lennon is genuinely faster in both Accel and sprint, evra is not used to being outpaced.

His defending style is to get close, not give any space and if they get passed he will catch up.

The problem is Lennon is so quick and has decent close control, evra tries to jump in and his quick feet beat him most the time.

Like others have stated Lennon obviously has his tail up against pat too which doesn't help.
