Did you know? Has missed only one of United's league matches in the last two seasons - the 0-0 draw at Sunderland in October.

no wonder he needs a fecking rest.

Marcotti Evra on Sky Italia: "Last summer, I had offers from Inter + Real Madrid. Was close, but United really wanted to keep me."

Interesting. On current form though I don't think they'll want him.

I'd rather he had said 'I really wanted to stay'

Doesn't fill me with confidence.

His form is worrying though. Defensively, he's not been at his best at all.

Although I like him, nowadays, I know that United will just move on and there will be another player who will be worshipped. If a player prefers to leave, its his loss. I'm glad he stayed though, dont get me wrong

Showed fight today but really needs to learn how to deliver in the final third, I have never seen a full back get in so many promising positions then mess it up. The summer will do him good, all the world cup stuff has effected him and he clearly needs a rest. Final note he's still world class and I wouldn't rest him until the summer.

When's the last time he's gotten an assist? He's really got to work on his crossing and decision making on the edge of the box, because it's been lacking for a long time. Perhaps a long rest between seasons without any controversy with his international squad, and some healthy competition for his place, is in order.

Patrice Evra was extremely sloppy today. Needlessly gave away possession and made a lot of poor judgement calls. I don't know what it is that is meriting Evra's string of sloppy performances but he can prove to be costly in this final run-in of the season. We need an in form Evra and the Chelsea game at OT proves how integral he can be to our attack.

Don't understand why we didn't play O'Shea on the left and let Fabio start on the right. Evra is freaking spent and it's affecting his play. Can't question his determination but, decision making goes to crap when you are tired.

The lad looks clearly fecked to me. He's never going to get a rest though, and it's baffling. Once more Fabio comes on at a time when Evra is struggling...and once more Fabio replaces someone who isn't Evra.

For a while now i've been thinking about Evras role in the team and as much as I love the guy I do personally believe that a change of leftback would do us no harm.

He's getting beaten by wingers with a turn of pace far to easily and it has reached a point where when faced with pace I either expect him to give away a fould or simply be beaten by the man.

Also his attacking leaves a lot to be desired, he gets forward but flatters to decieve as he more often than not gets us nothing. His final ball is atrocious at times and his general decision making can be questionable.

I can't believe i'm actually creating this post because i've worshipped the guy but he just appears to be a weak link for us, I do hope it's a blip in form and we'll see a revitalised Evra sooner rather than later!

He really needs to get dropped/rested for a long time. Any player who's ever played on the wing seems to leave him for dead nowadays and he's extremely wasteful in the final third. Two really infuriating shots today when he should have crossed.

h'e turned into heinze, cant defend or attack, everytime someone attacks, he goes into central defence, and soemone else covers at left back, that invites pressure.

Another very average performance.

Seems to want to get forward more then defend properly these days. Sad fact is even when he does he rarely produces a good cross. Worrying signs these because he used to patrol the side we didn't have to worry about.

Now it seems it's the side that most teams look to attack us on. (unless Rafael is playing on the right of course).

I think it's a mental thing. He played 50+ games for us last season and performed at such a high level, went to the world cup and was widely criticised after that. He hasn't really been able to have a break from football. He's certainly not lost anything physical but he's lost a bit of swagger and composure for sure for me. A rest will do him good.

Towards the end of the game, he was shooting from all sorts of ridiculous positions and angles when Fabio and Hernandez were in the box waiting for a ball in. He probably knows how awful his crossing normally is and decided to throw in a few "hopeful" shots.

Either Fergie gives Fabio more games next season or we must sign a another left-back like Figueroa, Evra needs more competition next season.

Doesn't need competition, he simply needs to play a few less games a season.

was starting a run upfield when carrick needed someone to pass to and tried to force that ball to vid. if he'd just think defense more often...

I think Fabio's shown enough at the games he got this year. No reason we can't let him take the left back spot from time to time.

Would give him a rest against Newcastle and Everton and unleash him on Arsenal.

He needs the break and he always winds up the Arsenal players. Will do Fabio some good to get the games he deserves too.

I think we will definitely see some changes for the game tonight. I agree Evra needs a break and badly.

I know he isn't in form but when he came on yesterday he just showed the gulf of difference between him and most left backs in the league. Even if he doesn't have a great final ball, we are way more fluid going forward with him because he always opens up space and gives his winger an extra option.

People have been calling for Baines to win player of the year, and rightly so because he has been very effective with goals and assists, but I still wouldn't swap Evra for any left back in the league. He was more impressive in his 35 minute cameo then Baines was all game. I can't wait till he gets a rest and turns into a beast again.

I wouldn't swap him of course because he is at his best the best, but there is no gulf when he isn't in form. In fact he makes lots of mistakes defensively which can be very costly. Would be great to have him hit form now at the fag end of the season.

I guess he does make some defensive mistakes, but then again Valencia brushed off Baines like he was nothing a few times yesterday, and Cole has had problems with Fletcher and Park this season. He is still up there in the top 4-5 in the world out of form I think.

Disagree. In form he's the best but out of form there surely must be many better. Someone who isn't making mistakes or very very few is surely better than someone who is consistently doing so?

Yeah, but those players a few and far between. Most of the top left backs are good going forward but dodgy defensively. Marcelo, Lahm and Baines are always prone to mistakes. Cole is a defensive beast though.

If Fabio can stay fit next season it'll have a massive positive effect on Evra.

It's clear he's played way too many games for both club and country in the last three years. Averaging well over 45+ and most of them high octane performances will have an effect on anybody. The french world cup debacle can't have helped either.

hopefully next year Fabio gets a good 20-25 appearances and Evra gets a well earned rest during the summer. (personally, I think he should do as Anelka and just quit the french national team -- it's clear they don't respect him and frankly he's probably not going to make another world cup anyway). That said, he's probably hoping for a Euro 2012 final before he says au vevoir.

Him and Fabio have been our best players thus far.

Wonder did he get a shout from VDS, because it looked like he was about to leave it
