Evra is far from his best but he isnt that shit as some of you make him out to be. Imo he has to start against Chelsea. In a game of that magnitude you need the experience. Just think of last year and Rafael. He did great but get wound up and didnt react smart enough, got send off and we went out. Would pick Evra over Fabio for this game, allthough Fabio did quite well until now. The future will belong to the da Silvas but lets get behind Paddy for the moment.

I'd stick with him too, it's not like we have another left back who can really be trusted to do as good a job as Evra. Plus you know from his mentality that this little blip won't get him down, if anything he'll just be even more motivated.

If him and Nani can link up like they did in the league game against them I think we could do some serious damage.

I'd be tempted to drop him against Chelsea and play Evans. His form has been very poor.

Why in the world should you play Evans at left back instead of Evra for a big game? Even if by any chance Evra is dropped, it should be either Fabio or O'shea at left back.

Can't wait till he gets a proper rest at the end of this season. I think he played over 50 games for us last year, plus the shambles at the world cup this year and almost a full season for us this season as well. He has to be jaded. He will come back a better player next year but it's not as if he has been bad.

He should retire from international football... it seems to me that his morale was low due to the booing from France supporters he got...

Not really. The match he played in was in Luxembourg so the booing he received wasn't that much.Certainly nothing to be shocked about.
Plus he already knew how he'd be treated so he was prepared mentally

Long term, he needs a good rest. He's been dire.

Short term, he'll have enough motivation to do the business against Chelsea - he hates them. And he's experienced enough to get through the run-in.

Really needs a good rest over the summer. And we need to start resting him in certain games to keep him sharp.

Over the last two or three seasons, he's got to be right at the top for appearances, for outfield players at least. It's understandable that he's flagging a bit now, with the work he puts in over the course of a season.

In fact, we've been very lucky with Evra in terms of injuries. I don't think he's had a real lengthy spell out.

Since the start of the 2008/09 season he's played in 152 matches, including internationals. That's a hell of a frigging lot.

By comparison, Rooney has played 145. Vidic has played 124 for us but I couldn't find international appearances for him, and he doesn't get up and down the pitch as much as Paddy anyway.

He really does need a rest.

Christ. Has Rooney really played so few?

The thing about that though is, there have been times when Fabio is fit and chomping at the bit to get some first team experience. It would have made all the sense in the world to rest him a lot more these past 2 seasons, but it seemed like Evra wanted to play every single week and the manager was continuing to pick him. There have been other times when Fabio got injured of course and so we didnt have the option. But most of the time he was fit and an option that could really have used pitch time

Incredible. Its what i've been saying all along - yeah, nothing groundbreaking - but some people need to get off his back, all considered.

Wasn't his best night, but still they didn't really threaten on either flank.

Got raped by Drogba a few times. Got hit in the face a few times. Evra.

Drogba went past him 2-3 times and put a dangerous cross in. Some other chelsea cnut went past him like he wasn't there as well, forgot who.

I think he's been suspect defensively and this was a shit performance if not for his save on the line and preventing the anelka header.

Becoming a bit of a liability IMO. He needs a break or something. The goal line clearance aside he really was being picked on most of the game.

As he said in the press conf everyone needs to focus - he needs to most of all.

Yep. The end of the season can't come quickly enough so he can get a rest. I really hope we haven't seen the best of him. As he's playing now he's an accident waiting to happen.

It's at the stage where I shit myself whenever we're attacked down that side.

Not cool.

I'll say it again, he needs a rest. I don't care if he wants one or not, Fabio to play against Fulham.

Just coming to post exactly those words. O Shea is pretty good at LB. If fit, he needs to be considered now.

It says something when Giggs and Valencia both looked more solid defenders.

Good job Ray Wilkins wasn't commentating on tonights game or he would have been blue in the face saying ''You gotta stay on your feet son''

I agree. Fabio may well get more playing time if this continues.

Dire tonight. Stop slipping and sliding, no one else seems to be falling over.

Also stop trying to out muscle the opposition. Surely after being put on your arse for the 3rd time, you'd learn your lesson.

Drogba
Ramires
Bosingwa

All put him on his arse tonight. Ji did a better job holding ground.

Young Rafael on the other side no problems... Tony V emergency RB still no problems...

Yet our starting LB, and on reputation one of the top 2-3 in the left was an absolute liability tonight.

He needs a big kick up his arse, concentrate dammit!

Leave him be FFS.

How can people forget so quickly what a quality player he is? The unjust media treatment he received in France following the World Cup clearly unsettled him, but if you're faithful United fans the last thing to do would be to ask him out.

Nobody is doubting his abilities, but he's in a shocking run of form and that can't be ignored just because we like him. He's causing us problems.
