Pathetic, pitiful, disgraceful and an absolute embarrassment

Like a headless chicken running about, it's just the illusion of life. Let's all lighten up, aye?

No, not really.

Just trying to retain some perspective.

Being in control of your own fate is no reason for plot loss.

People can rake up old threads showcasing me as an idiot all they like, but it doesn't discredit my current point - our fans are losing it when we're not that far off.

I see what you did here.

Don't worry, your a better supporter than all of us who moan or leave early as we're sick of the current state of affairs... My problem isn't with the results, its in the style of play and direction the club is seemingly heading, investing in yet another manager who isn't right.

Kudos to you for being a super duper 'I don't complain' fan.

The results that could see us top the league come the weekend? We drew a game at home in the CL.....

I'm pretty sure that the title is one of the performance reviews for *insert name here*'s mum on the anonymous dating website Plump Pumps.

Our fans are the least of our worries ffs. Nothing wrong with showing some dissatisfaction at the shit on a stick football being served up on a regular basis.

Our fans.

Second in the league, in control of our CL fate.

The reaction in the ground, on the Caf, on Twitter...

Jesus wept.
You are on da money, baby. @Feed Me I bow, I applaud, you are f*cking right, what do I have to say... Yep, but the Caf has become a sewer, a haven for the disinterested, the prawn brigade, the pricks who know fa about footie. Having said that, I must say that was rather insipid. Me a hard core positivist. It was rather drear. I know we can qualify still, and probably will, but it can be painful watching say Lindgard learning his trade. Patience, I say to myself. Patience @Tincanalley

I agree with OP. Frustrating night but those that booed can get fecked. We can go top in the league on Saturday.

Booing is fine. They wont boo if we go top. Easy message to the players and not at all a problem.

I personally don't think this is just about tonight performance. It's been like this since LvG took over.

I know you haven't been happy with Van Gaal's approach for a long time. I do see progress, though. The foundations are in place for something special. It's that final, attacking, piece that's missing. I think, barring a catastrophe, we should let him finish his work. He's picked us up off the canvas after the Moyes debacle.

We're further off than ever, bro...I'm not talking about our league position. Says a lot when about this league Leicester and a second rate United team are on top.

In terms of attack, it doesn't look pretty, I agree. But we have some promising gems - Martial, Depay, Lingard - they've all given us reason for optimism at some stage this season. Then you factor in us being a bloody solid unit, and I do think there's the building blocks of a good side.

Anyway, I'm out. Emotions are running high.

We can all disagree, but we all want the same thing.

I'll be back for more reasoned debate tomorrow.

You'd hope the foundations are in place considering what we've spent and the wages we pay!

For all his reputation, LvG has been a major let down thus far.

You see progress now that you didn't see in Feb? please explain what that progress is.

Being Second in the league maybe top come Sat and a win away from qualifying in the CL?

Why do some people care so much about our fans' behavior anyway. Sure, it wasn't nice but these people paid for their entertainment, don't you think fans have little "privilege" to act like spoiled kids and show their frustrations here and there?
Relax, it's just human nature and it's not like they're trying to torch our players' cars here.

Right now it's the last thing I care.

I don't get it. If we're not allowed to whinge/complain or criticise anything here online (you know on a medium specifically created for discussion about all things Man Utd), what exactly are we all doing here?

We're second because teams around the top of have been crap, not because we've been good. Leicester are top ffs. Put Fergies last season side in this league, who weren't even a great side, and they'd currently be top comfortably.

That is the worst performance I have seen under LVG, the players in the 2nd half seemed completely clueless, given we were at home and a win would have put us through it is actually quiet shocking, we now realistically have to win our hardest game away to get through to avoid the embarrassment of the Europa league, it was appalling, the fans leaving after 80 mins said everything.

Thats joke like logic. So if every other top team is struggling suggesting a very competitive league then we, who finished 4th last season and 7th before that should somehow be better than better teams (i.e. City) and sit clear at the top? Because we are Man United. We are sitting second having major injuries and playing youth and buying youth! Have a word with yourself.

Bullshit.

Most PL fans have to pay through the nose to watch their team these days.

When we choose to pay to watch a game, that doesn't give us an inherent right to win.
Agreed it doesn't, but it gives you a right to show how you feel. I don't condone booing of individual players or booing during the game but showing distaste in a woeful performance at full time is alright in my book, when it's deserved.

For what it's worth I didn't boo, and never have, but that was dreadful and could possibly see us knocked out so fully justified for those who did.

Standards clearly have dropped then if spending the money we spend on transfers/wages and it becomes acceptable to rattle out games where we don't score like it's going out of fashion.

Without looking, I'd wager it's probably at least a third of games we've played this season where we've failed to score. Half the time we don't even look like scoring either.

If you think that's acceptable out come considering the squad and resource we have spent building it, then "have a word with yourself".

There is definitely a weird disconnect between the performances we're seeing and how we're doing in the PL. Hopefully that continues because I'd have thought the results are more likely to change than the performance level.

Don't like the fans reacting in a negative way but I can certainly empathise with it.

Indeed. We've ridden our luck in the league this year. Solid in defence for a lot of the time but dire going forward.

I made the point a while back that while results had been good, we needed to do better going forward and this highlights why. Sticking away most of limited chances is fine, but inevitably you have a dip and all of a sudden the lack of quality becomes blindingly obvious.

We still didn't lose, or even concede. It's actually amazing that there's this much of a backlash not for losing, but for failing to win. We've been good this season, solid but unspectacular and being hard to beat is noteworthy in itself but we do need to step it up. Failing to qualify for the knockout stages would be quite poor though given we had one of the easier groups, but we'll finish top four and get there again next season whether we get knocked out now or in the semi's.

Uber fan alert.

Our team served up a terrible and almost non existant second half against a direct competitor to our ticket to qualify for the CL knockout stage, which potentially leaves us with having to play Europa League football.

I'd say we have a bit of a right to be pissed.

Indeed. A poor display - against aside who didn't even want to try and win the game. As bad as I've seen this year in the second half and the less said about the subs the better.

So if we win and sit top Sat night thats unacceptable? Or acceptable because we won that game.....or won 3-0 away at Goodison or are the only team that beat Spurs...I could go on...

We were horrendous today, I can fully understand the frustrations right now.

What's amazing is someone defending that performance - at home, against a side who didn't even try to play.

We looked tumescent, one paced and predictable - again. It was a game we should be winning or at least look like winning. We are, for the most part this season easy to defend against - men behind the ball, let is have it and we don't break teams down anywhere near often enough.

Unlike which PL team?

I just said my problem isn't with the results.

Why is it so hard for some fans to believe that others want to see a brand of football the club is known for?

The league is average, so the results aren't exactly spectacular tbh. CL results have been dire.

I'd just like to point out that we've had fans leaving the ground early for about 20 years, it has nothing to do with performances. it irritates the living shit out of me.

Have people really defended the quality of that performance?
