Pathetic, pitiful, disgraceful and an absolute embarrassment

Depends on your preferences. Do you enjoy watching Mourinho's football? Is it worth to clear your calendar every weekend to watch a 90 min snoozefest where we might snatch a win if we're lucky? This isn't a knee-jerk reaction from us critics. This pathetic brand of football has been going on for far too long - and the booing is a result of people not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel.

Rewatch the CP game this season. There you will notice that both set of fans were really up for it. Until LvG's football took over - resulting in complete radio silence from both ends. This is death to football as I know it. The most frustrating part? We have a pretty solid squad (as results show) but he strangles the team's offensive play completely.

You've described the lives of the majority of football fans.

United have had it too good for too long. We, myself included, are too happy to support so long as things are going well.

The funny thing is that this is probably the most appropriate time for Feed Me to go create one of those listed threads, ever, and instead he does the opposite.

He likes to be seen.

You're joking right?
We don't expect to win every game like Real or whoever, getting white hankey's out, bashing up players cars or whatever.
Performances like this where we come out FLAT from start to finish, show no energy, no urgency,no risk, no desire.
It's been a year and a half and people (in my opinion, rightly) are getting sick of seeing the same issues not being addressed.

This. So much this.

I honestly thought you were talking about the performance. I usually hate booing but I slightly thought they deserved it today they were that bad.

We need to look at the context. We're masters of our own destiny in the CL. It's not cause for the post match fan mutiny.

Were masters of our own destiny tonight. And played like shit on a stick.

We'd be a better side if we played quickly but they don't want to do that. Masters of our own destiny? We'd probably fumble that or pass it backwards...

We should have created a lot more than 2 chances at Old Trafford against this team. We should have been camped and battering their goal. I can't remember their goalkeeper making a save.

Tbf, we did somehow create two good chances, the one which Martial shot at the goalie in the first half and the second which Lingard spooned over, from a Young's cross.

It was still an extremely poor and an inexcusable second half though. It wasn't so much the performance which was disheartening but rather the fact that they didn't show any heart or passion in what was a pivotal champions league match. Most of them weren't even playing in it last year, and I really expected to them show more hunger in chasing for the winner against a passive PSV side. The last ten minutes, or the entire second half for that matter, was just incomprehensible really.

EDIT: Never mind, missed you stating that we created two chances in your post.

Being a bloody good side capable of winning something.

Man United last year ----> Chris Smalling
Man United this year ----> Mike Smalling.

We're very far from being a "bloody good side". Our midfield and forwards are clueless, at this moment.

I don't think there should be total meltdown but the performance was so bad tonight and for such a crucial game it's unacceptable. But I'm waiting until the Wolfsburg game. If we end up in the Europa league I will have serious, serious concerns about whether Van Gaal should carry on.

You really think we are too spoiled in all this? I have to say that I haven't enjoyed a single United match this season bar the Liverpool game. And that's on top of LvG uninspiring first season.

I don't expect us to win everything ever again but I expect us to be a flamboyant attacking team not a squad full of robots who didn't get the attacking brain switched on upon time of configuration.

Call me plastic but I struggle to look forward to United games anymore. And that's not looking to change under van Gaal unless he suddenly splashes another billion - because the only solution looks to be van Gaal making it rain towards every top player and their club. Because even players like Neymar and Reus surely can't be turned into defensive robots, can they? I'm not so sure anymore.

Yes, yes, it's already been laughed at - numerous times.

Poor form from me.

Sorry, it was very funny.

Tonight's performance wasn't very bad in the first half, but the second half was one of the worst we have seen. People are bound to get frustrated.

I thought the fans were really poor tonight. You could see that their negativity was impacting the players too IMO. I get the frustration but it'd be more beneficial to support the team and urge them on. Complain afterwards if you must, but not at the 75th minute mark.

I have happily held my hands up for being a fecking idiot last season. People can post old threads all they like, I will still give my opinion.

The current negativity is way over the top.

Blaming Van Gaal for player profligacy is stupid in the extreme. A philosophy doesn't make players miss sitters.

What abou

We moved the ball quickly and upped the tempo for about ten minutes in the second half and we had PSV on the ropes. Then we inexplicably slowed the play down again. Its utterly ridiculous.

Struggles in football are all relative. I went to the pub on the weekend just gone with my Villa supporting mate. They lost 4-0 against Everton, are stone bottom of the league and have been in relegation trouble for what seems like about five years.

Yes, United may not be great to watch, but we're still competing at the sharp end.

I see where your coming from mate, but imagine if you'd rushed home from work (maybe not had time to even take a shit or eat), got to the ground and then were served up another shite uninspiring performance. Tickets for games like this are not cheap and the match going fans are starting to turn on LVG. Can you imagine if LVG was in charge of Real or Barcelona? He'd have been booed constantly for months now and would probably have been sacked last year.

We're paying £50+ each game to watch utter dross. Easy to criticise match-going fans from your armchair.

Bullshit.

Most PL fans have to pay through the nose to watch their team these days.

When we choose to pay to watch a game, that doesn't give us an inherent right to win.

Fans watch us play to be entertained. That was not entertaining in the slightest. We are even bloody boring when in defence now that we are so good at it.

I would genuinely save the meltdown for when we are knocked out. It's all still to play for.
I personally don't think this is just about tonight performance. It's been like this since LvG took over.

That's almost the exact same time as when he subbed BFS for Fellaini.

Hate these kind of arguments. All is relative. If your car breaks down would you stop to think "Hey, atleast I don't have to live on the street in a third-world country"?

Watching van Gaal's project so far (with the emphasize on 'so far') is like taking up a huge credit card loan and deposit the entire sum into a savings account with 0% interest rate expecting to profit from it. Pointless.
