Paris terror attacks on Friday 13th

People need to start entering into a collective mood of just mobbing someone shooting with a gun. Shouldn't be possible for 3 or 4 guys to execute dozens one at a time. I know what I would be doing in that situation, shitting myself on a corner waiting for my turn, but survival instinct needs to be reshaped in our minds.
This. I know it's easy talking from the sideline and we have no idea how we would react in a situation like this but everyone should react like the 3 Americans on the Thalys a while back. Fight not flight.

A guy heard detonations an hour ago, at least that's what he said on BFMTV.

It was on Sky earlier but there's been no official confirmation. Googled it and the Tweets from people in the area say that there's a heavy police presence but nothing more.

Again, something else from another forum that I don't have a source for...

"ISIS just claimed the attacks as their work. Warns Washington, London and Rome next"
Yeah should probably not post random stuff from forums without a source at least

Crazy...Palace defender Martin Kelly looks to be ok. So many weren't so lucky sadly.

Well, I'm keeping an eye out, and did say it was a sourceless post. I'll update when I find something.

It goes against instinct, hence why I said it would need to be reshaped in these situations. In the blink of a second you have to decide if you wait for certain death or give yourself and others a chance by throwing yourself on top of a guy who'll have lesser time to aim properly, lesser time to detonate a grenade, and certainly no chance of succeeding against a crowd. I feel disgusted just thinking about this, certainly not the best time for reason... I don't even know what I'm saying.

It's a sensible suggestion which would save lives and have a significant deterrent effect on this type of terrorism and lone gunman shootings in general. The problem is persuading people to do it.

I have to admit, the terrorists won with me. I used to go to big events in DC and since 9/11 I've been nowhere near. I just think it is too easy and we are now entering the next phase and this will now become the norm.

Seemingly random choice of targets tonight- usually these types of attacks aim at very symbolic sites or events, but random restaurants and concerts appears to signal a new phase in this kind of thing.

Thank Christ they didn't get in the Stade de France if indeed they were stopped at the gate.. Near the gate?

RIP all those in caught in the Bataclan. Poor souls

This is scary, it makes me think the Euros should be cancelled, this is a form of urban warfare and the last thing you need is bigger targets for them, it going to be hard to route out the terrorists capable of doing this because of the size and the situation of the country.

The religion of peace.

Sorry, but feck right off.

What a stupid comment, do you think you're helping the cause?

This is not about Islam, it's much bigger than that.

And no, I'm not Muslim.

You know it does make you question things. A few hours ago I was buzzing to sort out going to see the Roses in Dublin and now I think of this and think of that goon a few years back at that cinema and ponder if I should even go see the new bond tomorrow. Suppose that's what they want though, they want people to be scared, so feck them.

Islamic terrorists have been mostly countered since 9/11 in America though. Can't say I blame anyone for feeling that way regarding that day though

A terror expert said on 5 live that a few months ago ISIS told it's supporters to attack concert halls, it's also near the charlie hebdo building.

Caution doesn't mean capitulation.

It does mean common sense.

The number of fatalities at the concert hall is now said to have risen to 118.

They been pretty good on 5Live.

Agreed, Nolan does try to keep the coverage dignified at times like these. By the sounds of things (for i've not seen much of the BBC myself) Sky have been the better source from a television perspective.

The problem is; that's what they want. It's a fecked up situation that's practically impossible to win, as long as there's extremists around.

Yeah Nolan been very good. Although I did turn over to 5live after seeing the awful coverage on BBC news.

Why Rome?

Jihadis have an obsession with Rome, they're still fighting the Crusades in their heads. Rome features quite a lot in their millenarian worldview.

Have a feeling the match tonight was a target but it went wrong

Soft target to spread more terror. The same thing happened in Mumbai as well. :(
