Paris terror attacks on Friday 13th

Hollande has nothing to do there, just go home François.

And the borders are closed.

The Beeb have let themselves down tonight. The news anchor has been struggling for a good while now.
That older blonde woman? Heard her talking to a reporter on site and she was basically fear mongering. It switched over to Al Jazeera and they were doing the same thing, interview with a person who was at the restaurant.

SOrry if I missed it RiP but are all of yours accounted for?

In a way it almost is their job now, so much of the facts are shared via social media. Look at the hostage inside the concert hall posting via facebook.
Yeah luckily all my friend are fine, just distant contacts which are currently unaccounted for, but no direct friends.

BBC have now mentioned the possible Calais fire. They are saying it's from social media.

Did they used to be like this? What with that cock asking a survivor to count the bodies earlier, it's just amazing just how bad the news reporting has become.

You should check out France 24, they have some fat lady just reading out tweets with 1 or no re-tweets and then speculating.

The media really goes to shit in this. Why is the BBC repeating unconfirmed reports on social media? Do your fecking job

It's ridiculous. Especially from the BBC.

She's fecking backtracking now, "well I did say they were from social media".

I pick on the BBC because, given their funding arrangements and history, they should have more interest in being the source for confirmed news, not regurgitating Twitter.

Can we bloody talk about the biggest terrorist attack in French history before we bring Israel into the debate?

I am talking about nothing else; they have an enormous amount of experience of closing the noose on terrorists, and France (and the rest of us) would benefit from the counsel of the Israelis. Why wouldn't we listen to the wisdom of the Israeli's? Something has to be done about this travesty.

What a thing to wake up to. I genuinely teared up reading the news. Horrible. Absolutely horrible.

The Reddit live feed has more mature reporting than BBC news

We should consult Israel on tactics to deal with terrorists at home. Target the houses of family of the terrorists identified?

Spot on. Let's go ahead and impose total blockade on those people, bulldoze their communities, shoot them in the street for fun. That's how to achieve peace. Definitely not the sort of thing that breeds terrorism in the first place.

Because they're doing the terrorism maybe?

What utter nonsense.

Killing a terrorists family doesn't work, quite the opposite in fact, it creates multiple more terrorists. And to be honest is pretty dispicable, what if the family is completely innocent?

Doesn't that completely go against survival instinct? The guys starting the mob are pretty much guaranteed to get hit/shot and then eventually crushed if others join in.

It goes against instinct, hence why I said it would need to be reshaped in these situations. In the blink of a second you have to decide if you wait for certain death or give yourself and others a chance by throwing yourself on top of a guy who'll have lesser time to aim properly, lesser time to detonate a grenade, and certainly no chance of succeeding against a crowd. I feel disgusted just thinking about this, certainly not the best time for reason... I don't even know what I'm saying.

BBC now stating Calais camp fire picture is an old photo.

It can work if there's one gunman. A high school teacher in America saved a lot of lives that day not so long ago by doing that. However three terrorists who each have AK's (each magazine has 30 shots) and probably more fire arms to boot would hold off a lot of people swarming them.
Everyone is different it's not as clear sighted as 'everybody mob them', it's a crowded venue full of panic and fear within seconds, gunshots being sprayed and bodies dropping no one has time to think like that within seconds, me and my friends were almost murdered when we were younger, mine and their first instincts were 'run for your life' which ultimately saved us.

A presenter or a reporter, can you recall their name? I don't know how they could do that.

People need to start entering into a collective mood of just mobbing someone shooting with a gun. Shouldn't be possible for 3 or 4 guys to execute dozens one at a time. I know what I would be doing in that situation, shitting myself on a corner waiting for my turn, but survival instinct needs to be reshaped in our minds.

Not as daft as some have made out. In crisis people react as if by instinct according to training and commitment. Peer pressure has a huge effect.

I'm sure the French, the Americans, British and all the allies are already talking. They all have sufficient expertise to deal with these things. But I am totally shocked such coordinated attacks were not detected. Chatter/phones calls?
