We got no Hargo, We got no Ando ... at least we have Gibbo...

If it's a mental thing then at least go out and play for the reserves for 20 min or something. Would at least get a better idea than just training every other day. Ok that's just me frustrated, there are professionals that are taking care of him and know better.

I want my Hargo back.

Don't forget Ljajic. Oh no we didn't signed him at all.

even SAF has stoped talking about him.

High time we did too. next season only for him now.

This. I personally don't believe we will get the same player back. He might still play, but at the level he did prior to his injuries. I hope so, but I have a bad feeling he's going to get released when his contract expires. Another sad story of a talented player that just couldn't get over his injuries.

i thought we shouldve cut our losses last summer, sold Hargreaves to anyone who would have him (everton?) and bought in someone like De Rossi with the Ronaldo money.

he's out of contract in the summer isn't he

if he is going to make it back and we offer him a contract I hope we would accept a lower one

be seriously unfunny if he walked and ended up playing for someone else after being paid umpteen millions for playing 17 league games

Is he out of contract this summer? You could be right but all that money for a two year contract seems strange. The best he could hope for is a pay as you play deal with any club

I have a feeling De Rossi wont leave Roma...

What he said and you do realise this is not FM right?

I think he has a clause that will ensure his contract expires at the end of next season..

because heaven forbid manchester united actually buy a player? (that was more in response to the "FM" comment)

Last summer, before they sold Aquilani, Roma were hardly in a good place finance-wise, and lets not forget that De Rossi nearly left them a few years ago. It wouldve been doable i think.

Anyway, lets not go too off topic.

Its funny how this thread gets inadvertently bumped every week or two, at which point our resident caf medical experts start pontificating that he won't come back.

Cant see the harm, as fans we only want to see him come back and play, we were told it would be three weeks by the club. You are the source of injuries updates, so you know something we dont?

Agreed, but the original three weeks claim has been turned into a mockery by a few people in this thread. I'd be happy to see him back at full strength, whether this year or next.

If his contract is up at the end of the season and Fergie wants to keep him on a lower/pay as you play deal because he believes he can still recover and do well, the least he could do would be to have some class and show respect to the club that has stood by him by signing. I believe he would.

Get well soon Hargo.

I met him in Rome at the final last year and the way those knees were bandaged up I had a feeling we would be lucky to see him this season, again I hope Im wrong

The only deal that would make sense is a pay as you play deal. I hope that the club learns that we should never sign injury prone players.

Why would he when he has an option of a further 12 months on the contract on the same wage he's on now? The option is his, not the club's so we will likely be shelling out the wage we are now while he continues to dither about a comeback.

He makes people who scrounge off the benefits system with no intention of working look like honest people earning their crust.

£70k a week for sitting on his arse and dilly-dallying about training again is disgraceful. He owes it to his club to start full training and earning his vast salary.

249 competitive games in 10 seasons...

That said, he's 5 league winner's medals and 2 Champions League's to show for it.

In fairness we just dont know what shape he is in, is it still the injury or a confidence problem that is keeping him out?

It's definately a "confidence" thing. Fergie said so, said that he was fine, no pain etc, just a case of him putting aside the doubts. Doesn't seem to be doing so at the moment though. The least he could do is freeze his pay, like Henson is doing at Ospreys in rugby union, at least then it's a case of tackling his own demons without eating into the club's accounts.

Obviously, teams would love to sign a player who had surgery in both knees, hasn't played for nearly a year and might never return... No one would have touched him.

50 league games in the last 5 seasons

37 games for united in 3 seasons...

lets be honest its turned out to be an expensive signing

He said Everton. They took a chance on Saha and now he's working just fine. They have some doctors.

With Anderson out does anyone know anything concrete about Hargreaves? the updates have well sort of stopped

Last i heard was SAF saying he suffered a set back, this was mid jan and he said that hes suffered a set back and will need more time to recover physically and mentally - i actually think in OH's case its more about being in the right mental state, after a long period out you feel he must be scared of going full out in fears he'll be out again.

But that mental excuse is just that, an excuse. It's a scandal that he gets paid so much for doing so little.

If I were him I'd stop hiding behind this "confidence" nonsense, get my boots on, and start earning my keep rather than sponging like he is.

SAF said he was training loosely from November until now, but sorry, that's just not good enough when we've shelled out as much as we have on his fee, wages, medical costs etc.

If he can't man up and take the plunge now, when will he? This is his last chance at a WC in all probability, so if he can't push himself for that, what else will make him take the last step?

For feck sake, in his entire career has he ever done anything to suggest that he's mentally weak or a sponger? He's got to the level he's reached through hard graft, determination and a love of the game. I sincerely doubt he's happy with the way his career has panned out over the past couple of years.

Great player, great mentality on the field, and has shown good character to come back from all the insults with England etc, that's undebatable.

The point is though, that he's now physically able to train and get back into the cycle of playing again, but he won't because he's mentally scarred, I get that but it just ain't a good enough reason to wuss out when your getting paid what he is.

If he breaks down it's the end of his career, if not he could still have a good few years left. But there's only one way to find out, and it isn't by dithering over a comeback whilst picking up his wages for doing jack.

I'd like too see you man up after having done what he had? You probably wouldn't have the balls to have it done in the first place.

I can the silver lining is that Gibson gets more games to stake a claim in the United first team. He couldnt even get a look in during the first few months when there was Carrick, Scholes. Fletcher, Giggs, Anderson all in front of him.

No-one can say that with any certainty, not even the guys that have been treating him. MRI scans, physio tests etc can't detect everything. If he feels he's not fit to play, there's a chance its psychosomatic, but there's also a hell of a chance that he's aware of something the medical staff haven't picked up on. Given his attitude so far in his career, I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Believe it or not, this is his third season with us. :(

But if his 'dithering' is increasing his chances of a successful comeback, then it ultimately could be well worth it.

That's the problem right now - nobody outside the club (and perhaps inside the club either) knows if increasing his recovery period does improve his chances.

 And you think SAF won't notice what you are?
