79? Buy buy buy! Crazy acceleration. If he sharpens up his finishing and passing when running at pace he'll be practically unstoppable. Of course theres a chance he will never reach that level, but with inflation what it is we will get most of our money back in a few years anyway if he doesnt make it. The only caveat is mbappe must be number one priority and basically at all cost. I suspect we will be using our transfer reserves this summer for mbappe so we may not be able to afford anyone else.

A bit more iirc, but they got incredibly lucky - all Europe was already after him but he decided that a move to Dortmund would be better for his career (and he wasn't wrong).

Why'd he go relatively cheap though if many clubs wanted him?

Insanely talented team, in every single position. Most promising young player around up top, probably the most promising winger in dembele, Martial who before last season was seen as the most promising player, 2 world class midfielders, very good fullbacks and center backs then one of the top 5 keepers. And thats not even including Kingsley Coman who everyone raved about before the season just past. Both him and martial had tougher 2nd seasons but will no doubt bounce back.

No idea to be honest, if was quite baffling at the time too. Probably some kind of deal with Rennes - originally he signed his first contract with them with a 5 million release clause (and he was a very highly rated youngster then too); allegedly they even offered him 5 millions to renegotiate the contract! So probably some smart play by his agents.

All the big guys expressed their interest in him last summer, but he said from the start that he's going to Dortmund
 
Dortmund are a selling club so I don't know why we're not after him. He's a game changer.

We will sign Perisic for big money and wonder why our attack isn't good enough while we should be signing quality players like Dembele.

Because Dortmund only sell when they want to sell. They stick to their plans.
 
Why spend 50+ million on Perisic when an extra 25 will get a special player. He looks like a United number 7. Sign him up.
 
We should definitely be after this kid him and Mbappe are special ,unfortunately Mbappe will definitely end up at Real. Dembele is only going to get better and better.
 
I love his fake shots, it works every time and he is so dangerous once in and around the penalty box.

Yes! We're going to be rinsed no matter who we buy. The price for Perisic is disgusting. May as well go all out for top drawer quality.
 
Said it before but we should be going all out for this guy. If we can't get Mbappe.. get Dembele.
 
It's a shame that once Barca and Real have their current talismen coming towards the end of their powers, they have two of the hottest prospects in football saying they want to play for them!

Virtually every season they sell at least one of their star players with Lewandowski, Kagawa, Goetze, Mkhitaryan, Gundogan, Hummels and Sahin ones that instantly come to my mind and they still have players like Aubamayeng, Dembele, Reus, Ginter, Rode, Pulisic, Emre Mor, Bartra, Guerreiro and the returns of Goetze, Sahin and Kagawa.
 
I always said even though Mbappe was getting all the raves and reviews that Dembele was the best player of his generation and I stand by it. The only flaw in his game is his finishing but his quality outside that is special. Future Ballon D'or winner

And it's planned, look at when they are sold.
 
This guy will do more to solve our attacking woes than Perisic. There is no doubt about it. Perisic is overpriced so why not tempt BvB with 60-80m sterling and maybe a loan deal for Martial?
 
Going after Perisic instead of a guy like Dembele seems for an outsider as a very bad judgement call. Mourinho has to actually win things at the end of the day, so of course it's his call to make, but i can't see see a thing Perisic is better at than Dembele. We need more speed on the wings, intelligent crosses and more goals. Would bring back some lost CR 7 vibes with a talent like him within our ranks. Get it done, please!
 
A player also has a say in his future and i am pretty sure he wont move this summer anyway, 100m bid or not. Another convincing season at Dortmund and Barca will probably be sniffing around next summer and he may feel ready to move on to a top club with Dortmund also happy to sell for a high price.

I agree on the premise, I just don't see Dembele being willing to join us when he can easily pick between Bayern & Real.
I'd love to see it happen though.

His defensive game is better which Jose places highly on even his winger signings.

It's been reported that he's been very disappointed by Tuchel's departure and is considering leaving.
 
It's hard not to be jealous of all the talent the French have. They are destined for big things (on paper). A forward line of Mbappe-Griezmann-Dembele in next year's World Cup will rival anything on a club or international level.

They only sell their toplayers if they have no other choice, if their contract is about to run out. They always tried to keep their best players.

Dembele still has 4 years for them, so he will atleast be for 2-3 more years there. I think right now Dortmund would even reject 100m. This is 0% chance for this summer to happen.
