How come Barca think he's worth 400 million but don't want to pay 150? Weird bunch.

It's still less than half what they got for Neymar. Might prove to be a pretty good deal I think.

Well that is squeezing, if we would do that we should not be surprised to see DDG act out and try to force a move. Nor should we ever hope to conclude a decent deal with Real ever again aswell.

In business you don't squeeze or atleast not too hard if it can be avoided because there is also something as holding up good relationships and a good reputation which you can benefit from in future dealings.
you mean like they refused to sell to us a bench warmer for 80m euros. Yes I will feel sad not doing that business with them again.

Sure but it is not because Barca is after your player and wants to sign him you can start disrespecting them in the press.

Barcelona disrespect almost club they negotiate player with. I'd go as far as to say they are the worst club in football for tapping up, speaking publicly before moves are completed or even having their own high profile players publicly put pressure on players and clubs over moves.

It's not even a bloody month since they and the Spanish league authorities (together for some reason) threw their toys out of pram, publicly questioning the integrity and legality of another club meeting an established release clause for one of their players!

Why, sadly?
Transfer fees have been rising since long before I was born and will continue to rise, long after I am dead.
In the mid 90s Shearer @ £15M was the World Record Transfer. People spoke about it being a crazy amount. Off the charts. It will never be broken. No player is worth that, etc.

Prices go up. It's how football has worked, for many decades.
And if you think £200M is a lot, wait another 10 years, when we shall almost certainly see the first billion dollar/euro player. Now, that'll be something to behold.

Because the transfer market will be much harder, with the selling clubs have all the right to ask for the craziest price possible for their clubs. No club needs money much imo and there's no more club that will be willing to sell their player easily for a cheap sum anymore.

The most expensive transfer is the one who puts the standard for the prices of other transfers imo. If the most expensive transfer is 100m, then the cheap transfers are 30m, the mediocre ones are 50-60m and the expensive ones are 70-80m, but if the most expensive one is 220m then 100m will be the new 50-60m and the expensive ones really will be for about 130-150m. That's a very sharp rise in the prices and the clubs will need to put FFP in consideration and balance the net spending, also limiting the abilities to go on and sign as many superstars as the club wants.

The rise in prices is normal but I think this year it took a massive and sharp rise with Neymar becoming the most expensive footballer with more than double the sum of the money the previous one was. Last season 105m for Pogba looked overspending, this season it looks very cheap and that's a sharp rise in the prices in no time here.

I hope Rennes included a sell-on clause in his contract

We need to be looking at who Dortmund are going to replace this guy with.

I really don't know why people are getting arsey about this. It's been the same for ever. The big clubs take players from the smaller clubs who, all things being equal, they'd like to keep, but can't. In an ideal world it wouldn't happen but what are you going to do?

Bullshit. Ask Arsenal how much we disrespected them when we sold Alexis for 40m. and doubled his value after a season. Or ask City how we sold them Yaya Toure for a fair price, as he was one of the best midfielders in Europe at the time. Even Pedro has done great things for Chelsea, and was a main main for them at a very nice cost. Fabregas too, also for a fair value the year before.

If anything we made a bad name for ourselves by selling players for their fair values instead of inflated prices.

That's not what a release clause is. The clubs always want it as high as possible so if the player is very good noone pays it.

They though the same when they put the Neymar release clause. They should have done as Madrid and put a clause up to 1 billion to ensure no one will ever think about it.

Maybe they won't hate receiving 400m. for Dembele.

There needs to be an agreement between the player and the club so I guess 400 million worked for both. I don't see anyone paying 400 million euros for him though even if he fulfills his potential.

Would be hilarious for Messi and Ronaldo to keep going strong for 2-3 seasons, and by the time they retire Dembele to become better than a washed-up Neymar and win the Ballon d'Or.

That wouldn't be surprising.

How much did they end up paying then?

We just released an Adhoc News:

105m € now, 40% of that sum in bonuses. 147m € in total.

I woul expect, that those bonuses have low profile triggers. Otherwise that whole transfer saga wouldn't have made sense.

Curious to see how all this works out with Messi. Tho he is 2-footed .Ousmane looks better on the right (as well)

They ofcourse will, But believing that any one who plays at barcelona are ballon dor' potential is insanity.

You act like you did us a favour by selling us Alexis. You sold him because he wasn't good enough for your first team and you got a good offer from us. Exactly the same scenario with Yaya, Busquets replaced him so Yaya was sold. You make it sound like Barca is some sort of charity, helping out other less fortunate clubs by giving them players.

And you disrespected us plenty over the Fabregas saga. A player who didn't even fit into your team.

Not any. Only the good ones. Stoichkov, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Figo, Messi, Cruyff. If Dembele will become a truly great player, chances are he'll win one at Barca.

That could very well be as no-one will care about Neymar in the French League. Unless he wins the WC or CL

Saddening. Don't think he's ready for Barcelona.

Nowhere near ready, especially with the expectations that will be placed on him through the fee and the fact he will need to fill Neymar's shoes. Good player, but don't think he'll ever live up to the fee.

Pogba fee looks better and better by the day. Great player, big transfer for Barca with their aging team. It's important to get players like these in before their dip is in full flow. Don't think he'll help them get near Real but has Ballon D'Or potential. Disappointing how he's behaved during the transfer though, still seems quite immature as there were similar stories at Rennes

We sold him to you for a fair price. Remember that. Also remember that Arsenal has a history of going to shopping at La Masia. The price for snatching Barca talents is the possibility that one time they will be homesick and will want back, which is exactly what happened with Cesc.

You're seriously suggesting your club is some sort of beacon for integrity and fairness in football?

Give over! It's quite literally a club full of bullies, divers, ref-influencers, tax cheats and tapper-uppers.

Probably the least pleasant club in football, who hide the dirty way they conduct their business behind some attractive football while shouting loudly to anyone who will listen about how righteous and honourable they are!

Nope. I'm only suggesting we sell players for their fair values. Which we are. I'll let you continue with your insults now.
