Kicker suggests that BVB will use the rumoured fee of €180 million for Mbappe as a reference point in negotiations - so that would mean Barcelona are unlikely to get near that valuation

It seems like Dembele wants to go so that gives Barca some leverage in negotiations.

Dortmund don't need to sell, he's got plenty of time on his contract, and everyone and their dog knows that Barca have just had a rather sizeable cash injection. I think Dortmund have plenty of leverage on this one too.

So many young players are over-hyped, but from what I've seen, I don't see how this kids game doesn't fit into any team in any league he wants.

If Mbappe is worth 150m then Dembele is worth over 100m.

We paid 50m for Matic ffs.

Dembele would be my muppet signing. Easily worth silly sums quoted this summer if we compare to what other less talented players have been purchased for ridiculous fees.

Pogba could be fifth most expensive player in the world by the time this window has come to an end. €100m is already an eye watering amount of money for Dembele and they think that's low. It's messed up.

As great as Neymar is Barcelona have 2 of the best players in the world in attack, scoring goals is not going to be a problem. Dembele and Coutinho are both match winners, Barca will be stronger if they sign both imo.

Kicker are likely not taking into consideration marketing value of Neymar and the fact he has proved to be a class player at the highest level for a number seasons. As good as Dembele is, he is still regarded as a prospect.

The time when John Stones after his last season for Everton broke defender record or Mendy a year later after the first strong season.

Mendy's first strong season was under Bielsa.

Absolutely. I mean if Neymar is at 222, no conceivable way Mbappe can be at 180 much less half that fee IMHO. 100 seems to be reasonable for Dembele eventhough BVB paid only 15 from Rennes a year ago

Which is why Barcelona refused to sell Neymar, without that clause he is still a Barcelona player or PSG has to pay more. And you have to take into account Dortmund's situation, Dembélé might be a prospect but his club won't be able to replace him with 70m, they won't even replace him with 100m.

35.

Why sell him for some silly 70 mil now when 1) if he replicates his season for say, a season or two, he'll go easily for 150 given the inflation + Neymar's/Mbappe's fee as a point of reference 2) Barcelona already have a 'we have 222 mil spare' sign over their heads and everybody and their dog knows that they have to replace Neymar with somebody. Plus as you say, they'd have to rely on their magic scouting again to pull out some gem that would still take time to settle in, etc. It's just not worth the hassle for such a low amount.

Exactly, Barcelona should simply go after Baldé and Séri. The former won't cost too much because he is in the last year of his contract and the latter has a 40m agreement with Nice, though I don't know what type of breaking Baldé had with Barcelona.

Dortmund won't sell until Bayern comes in. Dembele is going to Bayern to replace either Robben or Ribery.

Never happen, too much history there that would make him virtually persona non grata and even now his behaviour makes him a risk for any club

Pecking order

Morata €70 millions
Pogba €100 millions - central midfielder
-------------------------------------------------------- Dembélé
Monaco wants €150-180 millions for Mbappe
Barcelona received €220 millions

£35 Million rising to £40 Million not £50 Million.

Exactly this. Barcelona should just bite the bullet and realize they will have to massively overpay for whoever they bring in as Neymars replacement instead of trying to negotiate or pay what the player is probably worth.

Would be an amazing signing for any team and I hope we are involved or just pay those 100m. Not sure he'd join United though

Who is this clown? Dembele is still represented by his mother afaik. I have not seen or heard one interview from Dembele in German, English or French and some clown in England actually knows that he wants to leave. I wish the football clubs/players would just start to sue these idiots, they could re-coup half their transfer budgets from these Twitter clowns.

Is he worth that? I'd like to have him at Liverpool for that price although I haven't seen much of him, 40m isn't exactly that much in the current market. Isn't Cyprien the bigger talent though (and also five years younger)? Nice has some very interesting midfield options, but I doubt they'd sell this late in the window with the CL qualifier coming up and the season already started in France.

At 40m€ he would be the bargain of the year and I don't think people really compare them, they are both pretty good players and very good together too.

Cheers. Rather shocking that we're not even remotely interested then, it seems.

On Dembele, I don't think Barça will want to pay €150m for him, that's 70% of their Neymar money gone.

Well they've managed to adequately replace pretty much every player they sign and sell on for a massive profit. They don't just watch while 100 clubs send scouts to watch a young prospect, they buy them and sell them later on. If they kept their squad they'd be challenging Bayern easily, but it's not how they operate. They have Mor, Pulisic, Gotze who can play in that role already. Like Monaco they have an excellent scouting network and are decisive when it comes to signing players. Pulisic is already showing great promise, they may admittedly sell Mor to Inter and Gotze was supposed to be the next big thing a few years ago. Dembele may increase in value over next season but equally he may falter so I wouldn't rule out them selling.

Because they sold players following their own schedule.

If there is any shred of truth to the thinking that Pogba's performance suffered last year trying to live up to his transfer fee (I don't necessarily agree with that view), I wonder how Dembele would adjust to the EPL with the added pressure of a 100m++ transfer fee.

Woodward.... you had the chance to get a future superstar and you blew it by running after Bale and Ronaldo who were looking to set up their pensions. Sigh...
