You won't get Bale, you probably won't get Kane and we've also been linked with Firmino since last year.. I must admit I'm not very positive about the transfer window and next season but United being linked to certain players is absolutely not the reason why.

We were linked with fabregas, kroos, herrera and thiago when moyes was in charge and our midfield was still shit the following season. I think they'll prefer actually signing players.
Well they were linked with Di Maria and Falcao. We were going to have our arses handed to us. As it happens it was Young and Fellaini who handed said arse to us.
I'd be happy if Utd got Bale and decided to stop spending. An injury prone winger, to join the ranks of other wingers. Maybe he could do a job at right back when Valencia is rested.
The point is we are in for, and will sign top quality like a Di Maria. Or a massively exciting talent like Memphis.

It does indeed. We've more pressing issues further up the pitch that need addressing, but it would've been nice to go into 15/16 with genuine competition for Mignolet.
It's got to the point where I don't really expect anything from this transfer window.

I don't agree. Mignolet was alright for a couple of months but there's no way he deserves to be at the club given his performances over his two seasons here.
I could probably just about accept signing someone to compete with Mignolet but signing someone like Bogdan who doesn't pose any threat is baffling. I doubt Ward is any worse.
I agree with you, but who do you propose? A keeper who can compete with Mignolet would cost at least between £5m and £10m and it would be a gamble because no one knows if he would actually be better than Mignolet. He isn't good enough to be a guaranteed first choice but we have more pressing outfield needs that needs to be adressed first imo.
As for Bogdan, it's a pointless signing. Completely pointless.

Net spend of £50m, based on the wages being freed up by the departure of Johnson & Gerrard, and our revenue from TV & sponsorship. £50m seems reasonably realistic.
Rodgers isn't a bad manager but he is weighed down by the fact he is horrific in the transfer market.

Not when he is replacing Jones. It's the biggest upgrade we will do on any one player in the squad. Replacing Ballotelli with Messi would be a smaller gap.
