A lot of talk about which players they'll sign.

What if they get Klopp? Surely that would improve them more than a few decent players, and possibly guide them back to the top four within a few years?
I mean, for a club of their size, they are underperforming year after year in the league. They had a good season last year but I think my point still stands. They are a club in shambles and need a complete rebuild at this time. What better way to do that than getting a world class manager with new ideas and a pedigree which attracts good players?

It should be possible for them to get a good manager this summer as well, as the prospect of succeeding Brentan now is far from daunting, and there's actually a few managers available.

Their football haven't been anything like it was last year, but there's always the chance that Brentan can turn it around till august. The way they lost their last games and with Sterling on the way out I can't see it though.
Next year won't be any easier for them either. Chelsea will definitely be up there, Arsenal are looking stronger than ever, LVG shall finish in top four no doubt, and City will strenghten.

If they continue to make bad decisions, they'll buy some more dross, keep Rodgers for a year then sack him, only to realise there's nobody but Pulis available at that time..

What do you think? Would you be worried if they got Klopp?

Edit: Maybe this should have gone in a different Liverpool thread. Mods feel free to move it.

Apparently, we've asked the Premier League to start the season away from home so that the ongoing building work on the Main Stand can continue as long as possible. There will also be no pre-season friendly this year.

I'm thrilled about the 8,500 extra seats - finally more chance to get match tickets, and it'll increase our revenue as well because we'll still sell out the entire stadium.

I was looking through our record in the transfer market going back 20 odd years right from Souness taking over, & it makes for very bleak reading from a Liverpool supporters point of view.

7 managers have signed a total of 179 players, & out of that figure you'd be hard pushed to name 35 who've made a positive impact for the club. That equates to just a 20% success rate, bearing in mind for the best part we've been a pretty high profile club capable of attracting a lot of top players. Makes you wonder where we'd have been if it hadn't been for the likes of Mcmanaman, Fowler, Owen, Carragher, & Gerrard all coming through the youth system during that period. I suppose considering the fact there is nothing (quality wise) coming through the ranks right now, & there's an 80% chance our new signings will fail to make the grade. I guess we're going to find out over the next few years what life is like without any world class players to help elevate us from that pit of mediocrity that beckons just below us :(

Next year won't be our year.

Indeed. I just hope we are not looking at a few cheap players to save all the funds for Benteke.

I have no problem with Milner and Ings so far though.

I still think there are a few good young one's at the club, the likes of Ojo and Kent, and if there is something we can say about the manager is that he will give them a go if he thinks they are good enough. Like he has done with Ibe and others already.

I actually at the time thought the last window was a good one, but so far I have been proved wrong.

Ojo, Kent, Sinclair and Rossiter, maybe even Brannagan are decent prospects but not to the same extent as Gerrard and Owen almost two decades ago... I'd rate them like Flannagan - they could be able to make a decent impact on the team but they won't be difference makers for us in the upcoming seasons.

Really? It's just the way some Liverpool fans talk about Rossiter is as if he's the next Gascoigne.

Rossiter could make it as first team regular I think.

He was a huge talent in the youth ranks but he fecked up his ankle in February and hasn't been in action since. It's yet to be seen if he'll return to his former level but this injury is a major setback of course. He's still only 18 years old so I'm hoping for the best. He could become a very good player, but he could also never reach our first team: I guess we'll have to wait and see. Comparing him to Gerrard is unfair of course.

Fans of every club overhype certain players - I remember some on here saying Januzaj could be the best player in the world... I suppose he could, but it's not that likely, is it?

Rossiter should hopefully be a first teamer in the next few years.

Which is probably why we used the word 'could' and not 'will'.
Saying Januzaj could be the best player in the world is overhyping him nonetheless... But I didn't see anyone actually saying that so all good :)

I think this picture is the reason why so many Liverpool fans overhype Rossiter or however he's called

Johnson and Jones leaving the club and deal agreed with Bolton for Adam Bogdan.

On official site now.

What is happening with Manquillo? Are Liverpool sending him back to Spain?

Great, great, and... Okay, I guess. He's a better #2 than Jones by the looks of things, but I would've preferred an upgrade on Mignolet.

It's really weird. He only played 19 or 20 games last season, and then he never made even a bench appearance after that... Some people said there might be a clause in his contract which stipulated the number of games he could participate in, but I've no idea if that even makes sense, never mind is what happened.

He's awful. In Boltons last season in the Prem when I saw him he stepped in towards the end and let in howlers all the time, barely championship championship. fecking shite.

The fact he looks like Adrian Durham is a little disturbing.

He wasn't even first choice at Bolton this year. By the looks of it, we probably signed him because of the one great game he had against us in the FA Cup or some other weird reason us mortal souls can't understand. I rest my case, our transfer policy is doomed.

Kinell, Liverpool really are flexing their transfer muscle this window.

Brentan Rodgers said:
Bobdan is a player with great character, great technical ability. I took one look at his well moisturised hands and said 'there's our man - this is the man we want to be between the sticks at Anfield'. He's going to be a wizard and a technician between our goalposts, and helping Bolton to 18th position in the Championship was no mean feat. We've really sent out a message of intent so far with our signings, and signing the Ginger Grobelaar is the icing on the cake for me.

I can see him being third choice. There's no way Liverpool won't sign a higher quality keeper to compete with Filet Mignon.

I cant figure out why did they buy that guy..

Put the clips of the game against Bolton in the FA Cup maybe, especially the save from Borini, or the point blank header save against Wigan in the same competition.

Come on, be honest, are you satisfied with Liverpool getting a keeper from Bolton?

I have only seen him play twice, on the face of it signing Bolton's back up keeper on a free isn't exactly headline news.
But I was merely pointing out he has got some good moments out there as well as the bad you showed.

It depends how much game time he will get, Jones wasn't a fantastic keeper and from the looks of it this new guy is possibly a slight upgrade on him.

It's not like he will be playing much, injuries aside.

The bigger picture so far is we have 3 new players signed for nearly nothing, which on the face of it isn't going to worry anyone challenging for the top 4, however we spent a fortune last season and that didn't exactly work out well either.

That's all true but you need an upgrade on Mignolet and then you get Bolton's back up keeper.
its true your buys till now wont worry anyone, it seems you went from one extreme to another, from spending a fortune on not so good players to grabbing freebies around. :)

Must be so depressing being a Liverpool fan these days. While Utd are linked with Bale, Kane & Firmino & buying Memphis, they're snapping up Ings and Bogdan.

Cool, nothing to worry about then have you.

There is hardly any chance of Liverpool finishing above any of Chelsea, City, Arsenal or United in the near future without either one of those clubs making a suicidal Moyes-type appointment or Liverpool's owners spending huge sums of cash. They are showing no inclination to do the latter so are they in fact doing a more refined and bigger scale version of Ashley at Newcastle - making large profits from the popularity of the PL and Liverpool's large fan base without having any serious plan for getting them back in the big time?
