I always said the same. He changed a few things that had to be changed and brought a lot of positivity. So he did a perfect job as interim manager.
However, the rebuilding job that has to be done is to big for a second tier manager.
I really do not get why he got the job before the end of the season. No need to do so.
The next error in a long chain of errors that is going to cost us another year or 2.

It really boggles my mind how Wolves lose 2-0 to Burnley last week, then play like that?

Why is there such a disparity in quality between the two sides today? The passing is crisper, there is more chemistry going forward and in defence too.

That last 5 mins of Wolves just keeping the ball, all I could think about is if United were in that position. After 5 passes of no pressure, you would see Smalling, Fred or any of our players losing the ball.

I’d have taken Lingard off instead of Lukaku, but I can’t put this defeat on Ole. The players have no fight, and most of them are exceptionally stupid from a football/decision-making perspective.

Biggest fault for Ole has been continuing to persist with Young and recently Pogba who has been horrendous.

There's a real short-sightedness with comments like this.

Who does he play instead of Young? His hands are tied by virtue of having joined mid-season, with a squad inherited from a manager that had the almost polar opposite philosophy on football. Dalot is still very young, and Valencia is equally as finished as Young, if not more so. Who's next in line to play right-back? Darmian?

Who does he play instead of Pogba? An aging Mata? An inconsistent Pereira? Pogba's one of our best players, and is one of the few players truly capable of a moment of magic. Getting on his back when he doesn't manage it every week is ridiculous.

When he plays and is bad he never gets taken off.

What are the other options? By all accounts, Sanchez and Lukaku are shit, and Mata's getting there, which leaves us with a front three of Rashford, Lingard and Martial, and the academy lot as back-up.

Was against his fulltime appointment and still am.

I fear heart over logic determined his appointment. We 100% should've gone for pocchetino.

Unless we go out and sign 7 or 8 new players we are going to be in the exact same position next season guaranteed.

And he will be sacked and we will be back to square one.

I love Ole the player, but he’s a completely unproven manager.

We should have waited until the end of the season before making any decision. The board may have fecked up again.

Wolves have got Ole's number.

That's 2 games now we've failed to deal with their fast counter play.

Everyone has this team's number...

They're a bunch of average players, who when pressed, can't handle it! See Lingard, Young, , Lindelof for example.
Even Pogba, for all his supposed World Class ability, can't handle it when he's pressed

The manager isn’t getting hounded out of this job, if the players don’t perform they’ll (along with the board) get the backlash this time.

He set up the team perfectly. We dominated the game, missed two sitters and other chances. Was let down by a horrible mistake by Fred and a sending off.

Did you not watch it??

You don't understand football do you?

Having the ball doesn't equal dominance, us having the ball is exactly what Wolves want so it's meaningless. The only sitter we had was Lukaku's and that came in a period when yes we were doing well but that was up until their goal, after that we lost the midfield battle and they were comfortable defensively whilst always being more of a threat in attack. We were the better side for about a quarter of the entire game, the rest it was at best even if not completely in Wolves favour

I don't understand why people who have fears over the decision to give him the job when we did aren't allowed to voice them? Seriously are we only allowed to say nice things?

This is a club that has routinely made poor decisions following SAF's retirement.

So I agree with you.

Ole's still done a great job all things considered, but plenty of interim managers have done a great job(and didn't get the job) or got the job and failed.

This is what we expected when it came to Ole.

Even those who aren't questioning his appointment but merely criticising bits and bobs are getting their heads bitten off.
some need to stop raging and realise saying we should have waited isn't the same as saying he isn't right for us. It really just means it was too early to judge either way and others might still be on the fence. We deprived ourselves of the comfort of choice. He now has to be the right man or we're in an awkward position

Well today he could have taken off Lingard rather than Lukaku for starters.

If this was a Mourinho performance, you lot would be slaughtering him.

Not having a dig at Ole, fact is these players are absolutely shocking and nothing will change on the pitch until there is a complete overhaul upstairs
I agree completely. I’ve never seen a group of players who’ve achieved so little be so lauded.

He is a mistake. I said it before and i will say it again. Regarding football, he is just more attacking version of Mourinho. He doesn't park the bus but also waits on counters. Last 4 games,5 games were as bad as we were under Jose.

There were a couple of fairly questionable decisions, but I'm not sure what Ole is supposed to do about individual bollocks-ups and a parade of missed sitters. Feel the same about this as I did about the Arsenal loss.

My comment was perfectly reasonable, the only reason you accuse me of spitting out my dummy is because I disagree with you, and anybody who disagrees with you is a child by default.

You are the one cting like a child here but you don't even realise it.
Righto,
Everyone's entitled to opinions,
But when they are based on reactions then it comes across as childish, especially when you answer back to everyone who disagrees with you as you appear to be doing.
The board were obviously impressed with what Ole is doing, as am I, and they probably weighed up the alternative options and thought that Ole is the best option.
He had a great audition with the first 10/11 games, the results have slid recently which coincides with injuries mounting up and some players not being up to the grade, yet the performances have been much improved than under Jose bar the FA cup game v Wolves.
So please, have your opinion but base it on the bigger picture rather than reactionary revisionist history.

Absolute dogshite subs today. Love him but terrible management.

Young got redcarded, he should have put Dalot on the right back and put on Martial, but he put on fecking Jones. Replaced Lukaku with Martial very late instead of adding fire power.

Very worrying management from him.

Bizarre. The Jones sub was a clever one that allowed us to take back control of the game. It wasn’t necessarily attacking but it helped us play some football while down to ten.

It’s amazing how wrong you, in particular, are when it comes to watching us. Different hobby in mind?

Not going to criticise Ole, I love the guy. But, they shouldn’t have given him the permanent gig until the end of the season, just to keep the pressure off him rather than for any other reason.

It was going pretty well. Feck you Ed.

History is our most recent performances!

They have been lacklustre since PSG which let’s be honest, was very fortunate

Our squad has looked old and sub standard for years. Ole has taken them ss far as he can with the good vibe and smiles etc but nothing can cover up the poor staff we have.

It’s a huge task ahead, he needs backing financially, the right players and showing tactical nous. The last 3 games have shown that we lack 2 of those at least

Right, so "a while now" constitutes the three games between the PSG game and tonight, one of which we won?

I agree the task is massive, but I just don't get where this sudden, "Solskjaer is shit and out of his depth" knee-jerk that's going on, when we've managed to claw our way back into top 4 contention, and overcame the odds to reach the CL quarters.

The PSG performance was almost a complete masterclass. To say it was fortunate is doing both Solskjaer and the weakened team that had to play that night a huge disservice.

Was against his fulltime appointment and still am.

I fear heart over logic determined his appointment. We 100% should've gone for pocchetino.

Are you familiar with Poch's record in recent weeks?

You can't knee-jerk over OGS and call for the manager who is most likely to hand us a top 4 finish!

Giving him permanent job before end of season is a mistake and before some jump, that doesnt mean he is good or bad manager. Just we should wait whole season to end and judge then but nope, people singing that he is at the wheel and thats it. feck, even Chelsea waited DM to win CL before giving him a job on perma basis, if i am not wrong.

Tell me your plan....

We wait to the end of the season and hire...?
We wait until the end of the season and evaluate where we are. If it’s below expectations we look for a manager and dof with proven records, that are not Scottish, passed it, egotistical or nostalgic.

The worrying part about this is how ole speaks in the presser about how well they're training and how they're trying different tactics etc. United played their best football when ole had no time to train them in the first few games and they've gradually deteriorated .

Barca at OT is not going to be pretty .

Players downed tools, missed rashfords drive and energy, Lingard should of come off after an hour, midfield toothless

He is a mistake. I said it before and i will say it again. Regarding football, he is just more attacking version of Mourinho. He doesn't park the bus but also waits on counters. Last 4 games,5 games were as bad as we were under Jose.

When he was sacked we said players will have to show it themselves now, and they are showing themselves. Ole did nothing wrong tactically .

Trouble is we got into a position to get top 4, going backwards again, we have to win nearly all remain games to get it, city to play Chelsea to play, at home, does not fill me with confidence, and we need to attract players in europa league again. ? Poor oles got it he now has to prove he deserves it, I had a feeling when it was announced he got job results would fall away. It just how it would go. Pressure, honestly can see him getting sack by next xmas.

Not being negative, hope it doesn't, if we don't get players he wants, it's going to happen. The club is being run on a budget . Ole is the cheaper option. Going for 6th place after today, and we would have got that with Jose?

He set us up well. He can't help Young being a clown, Pogba being disinterested and lazy, Fred fecking up, our defense being shite, Lingard and Lukaku missing sitters etc. Many holes that need filling in our squad but not the manager.

I don't disagree. Mourinho was saying most of the above for over a year.

We wait until the end of the season and evaluate where we are. If it’s below expectations we look for a manager and dof with proven records, that are not Scottish, passed it, egotistical or nostalgic.

So we hit the pre-season with no plan? That's the plan?

We wait until the end of the season, before doing anything?

Get fecking real.

Stop with condescending shit like that.

We dominated the game and should have had a comfortable lead. One mistake and the game changes. We even started the second half decently before Young was sent off. We would have taken a point or three if he stayed on.

Ole tried to freshen it up to send a message to the players, sadly he just exposed how limited a lot of our squad is.

Don't blame him for it. For the first 20 minutes we looked well up for it. However, as soon as they scored we mentally collapsed. Ultimately Ole's gotta find a remedy for that part. As manager its his job to get into the heads of these players. Still, three managers before him have totally failed at that. Not gonna judge him on that side of things after only a few months.

I just hope the club backs him in renovating this squad. Mourinho didn't get the best out of it but Ole's been getting more out of it than he's had any right to.

Ole set up the team well, McTominay was a brave and good selection. Could have easily gone 2 up and everyone would be praising him.

Well done for not being thick as feck. It shouldn’t be required to praise posters for seeing it, however, needs must.

The team started brilliantly and Fred decided to gift Wolves a goal.

After struggling before half time, we were in complete control of the second half before Young decided to get himself sent off.

Ole and his staff can’t prevent that sort of idiocy.

It was a brainless decision to give him the job before the summer. It just reeks of the club taking the easy way out once again . Why can't we have just waited till the summer ? I am sick of year after year of this team with no tactical idea and shape . Wolves played us off the park in the cup and did it again today even though they had nothing to play for . We will be back here next December looking for someone new
