He'll never be given those kind of resources. The whole point of sacking Mourinho was to expose the fact that this squad full of great players was massively underperforming due to the incompetence of the curmudgeonly manager.
I wouldn't expect more than two or three in.
Then the board/Woodward is deluded.
We've seen the performances of pretty much everyone improve under Solskjaer. A couple of disappointing results doesn't change that.
It's completely pointless to sack a manager, based not just on results, but the complete dissatisfaction with the style of play he utilises, then not give his replacement the necessary resources to build a squad capable of playing the desired style of play.
It's also no secret that there was a displeasure in Mourinho's treatment of young players not named Scott McTominay, and general reliance on older signings. We've a squad in need of a bit of an overhaul.
For all we know he could still be the right man for the job.......but what would it really have cost us to bloody wait? especially since we were visibly at the start of a slide.
Well, for one, we've a number of players reaching the end of their contracts, a situation entirely down to the board/Woodward, who will probably want to know who they're playing for next season before committing to a new one. We also need to have some sort of plan going into the new season, and with no real obvious candidates that aren't Solskjaer, it seems prudent to let him start properly planning for next season.
