He'll never be given those kind of resources. The whole point of sacking Mourinho was to expose the fact that this squad full of great players was massively underperforming due to the incompetence of the curmudgeonly manager.

I wouldn't expect more than two or three in.

Then the board/Woodward is deluded.

We've seen the performances of pretty much everyone improve under Solskjaer. A couple of disappointing results doesn't change that.

It's completely pointless to sack a manager, based not just on results, but the complete dissatisfaction with the style of play he utilises, then not give his replacement the necessary resources to build a squad capable of playing the desired style of play.

It's also no secret that there was a displeasure in Mourinho's treatment of young players not named Scott McTominay, and general reliance on older signings. We've a squad in need of a bit of an overhaul.

For all we know he could still be the right man for the job.......but what would it really have cost us to bloody wait? especially since we were visibly at the start of a slide.

Well, for one, we've a number of players reaching the end of their contracts, a situation entirely down to the board/Woodward, who will probably want to know who they're playing for next season before committing to a new one. We also need to have some sort of plan going into the new season, and with no real obvious candidates that aren't Solskjaer, it seems prudent to let him start properly planning for next season.

How can Ole be blamed for this??

Players missing sitters, ridiculous mistake for the goal and our captain getting himself sent off.

Many of our players are simply not good enough.

Young, Smalling, Jones etc. These guys would have struggled to play for a mid table team.

State of some of the replies in this thread tonight. It's a MIRACLE Ole even has us in this position that we have a chance of top 4. Absolute bellends.

Win, loss and draw, I've held the same view that we should wait. I shouldn't need to dig up my posting history to prove my views arent reactionary or on the basis of tonight
Wait for what? What was going to change in May? To try bring in Poch who is also losing games with a better team?

I really get what LvG was saying. The style of football is very similar to Jose's and the results are now reflecting them as well. We won't be getting top 4 and which top player would come play for Ole?

We are really looking at another disaster waiting to happen. I am back to apathy at our current state of affairs. The contract extensions being handed out to absolutely garbage players while we bring in average players on mega bucks.

I don't understand why people who have fears over the decision to give him the job when we did aren't allowed to voice them? Seriously are we only allowed to say nice things?

We just don’t think things through.

But he needs to be given a lot of money, but also why the feck does he leave Lingard and Rashford on always?

Our performances have been on the slide for a while now.

It's hardly based on 1 game.

For a while now?

We made history in the CL when we beat PSG a few games ago. Yeah, the games that followed haven't been great, but we weren't bad against Arsenal, just undone by them being clinical, and tonight has been down to poor individual moments rather than anything to do with Solskjaer.

Are people blaming him for this? He decided to go for 5 at the back and dropped Matic and it worked great. Dominated and 3 clear cut chances within 10 minutes and the only reason they got back into it is because of some absurd brain dead individual moments. Even after they got back into we started the second half better before Young took things into his own hands so he obviously found a way to get them going again.

Rashford isn't even in the squad?

We now start looking at a bit of a dilemma, if we do not get top four then we have to try to attract top players who will not play champions league football and also play for a manager with no proven track record, so ask yourself as a top flight footballer would you risk it?

If this was a Mourinho performance, you lot would be slaughtering him.

Not having a dig at Ole, fact is these players are absolutely shocking and nothing will change on the pitch until there is a complete overhaul upstairs

Perfect tactics to begin the match. Dominating first half. Terrible ball loss by Fred in a dangerous position, brain-dead tackle by Young and chaos defending on 2-1. Yeah, it is "obviously" Ole's fault.

Biggest fault for Ole has been continuing to persist with Young and recently Pogba who has been horrendous.

Couldn’t blame Solskjaer for that. The squad is nowhere near good enough. Lacking in quality and leadership.

If this game shows anything it is that he is a man for the job. His players really let him down today. Go and complain about our so called most experienced player and captain Ash Young. His performance was disgraceful from start to finish.

Top of the league since he took over.

Took us past PSG.

No money spend and improved the play and results tenfold.

“We should have waited”.

Honestly just do one. You don’t get football. You don’t get United. Just go away and do summat else.

Absolute dogshite subs today. Love him but terrible management.

Young got redcarded, he should have put Dalot on the right back and put on Martial, but he put on fecking Jones. Replaced Lukaku with Martial very late instead of adding fire power.

Very worrying management from him.

No, your acting like a kid, spitting your dummy out because you think the board made an error, mainly due to United losing a game or two,
Time will tell if it's been a mistake,
My comment was perfectly reasonable, the only reason you accuse me of spitting out my dummy is because I disagree with you, and anybody who disagrees with you is a child by default.

You are the one cting like a child here but you don't even realise it.

So our great start under Ole will justify the garbage performances we have been putting out for a while? If this shite form continues, will you still be of the opinion that the performances with a new manager bounce was enough for him to land the job?

Tbf the reason why It is such a big deal is because if United feck up this appointment Ole will be at the helm minimum of 2 years and if United regress and dont progress then they will fall further and further behind there rivals and start to red on Liverpool levels of water. Its not so black and white.
I'm aware of that, but it's next season where he needs to be judged,
Ole has worked wonders so far, it's unfortunate that injuries and a run of poor luck seems to be slowing that progress,
Some people losing their heads because we are losing a few games, get a grip, the players are still the same as under Jose, performances have improved no end.

I don't understand why people who have fears over the decision to give him the job when we did aren't allowed to voice them? Seriously are we only allowed to say nice things?
This is what we expected when it came to Ole.

Even those who aren't questioning his appointment but merely criticising bits and bobs are getting their heads bitten off.

He will learn from it, I think he has shown plenty personally. He know must know he can’t be having favourites or it will ultimately costing. Young needs to be shipped.

Or it could be fecking amazing, who knows?

That's the thing about the future, it hasn't happened yet. Your point is, if we're being generous, an absolutely fecking moronic one.

Lets see. City and Barcelona to come with us being completely out of form and having not played decent football for a while. Ive little confidence in us pulling through.

Was against his fulltime appointment and still am.

I fear heart over logic determined his appointment. We 100% should've gone for pocchetino.

Unless we go out and sign 7 or 8 new players we are going to be in the exact same position next season guaranteed.

We were never going to be able to keep up run we were on, team isn’t that good a reality check was inevitable.

We won’t finish in the top four because of Jose throwing in the towel, whether Ole is good enough I have no idea but turning this squad round is 2-3 year job because it’s a mess left behind by 3 incompetent and outdated managers.

This forum is really bad. It doesn’t represent Manchester United’s fanbase at all. It’s full of kids who don’t understand United.

The Utd sub reddit is better. Far more balanced over there.

Then go there. The reddit is trash as are most reddit subs.

How exactly does this game show he's the man for the job?
