We finished actually only 6 points of that 80, with only 6 defeats but 11draws. I bet we can all think of those draws and think “we should have won that one”
Yeah I bet we can all think of many games and think "we could have drawn that one" too.
The amount of post match threads with posts like "we were crap but I'll take the 3 points"

Glazers underestimate one thing - protests. You can bet there will be no significant progress after them meeting fan groups on June 4. As soon as the new season begins there will be massive protests. Giving Ole a new 3 year old contract is just adding fuel to the fire. We are a poor mans Arsenal with no new stadium.

Yeah, football doesn't work like that. But it is 6 points, one shootout and one more trophy to be precise.
And when you mention the "one whos name is not allowed to say here"; he would have won yesterday's game in 90 minutes. In ugly way but he would won it
Yeah the only issue is he would have been knocked out against Milan itslef so he wouldn't have even been in the finals to begin with. The guy struggled again celta vigo what makes you think he would have beaten ac milan or roma. His spurs were knocked out against a croatian side.

I remember Jose given a new and slightly improved contract after the 2018 campaign with the Glazers supposedly backing him strong in the market after finishing the season 2nd.

He wasn't backed, he had a meltdown and we sacked him.

I just don’t see the point in extending his contract now. He has another year and it’s not like he’s going to get poached by another club. If he does well next year, then give him an extension. It’s so bizarre.

Phil Jones new contract, Bailly new contract, Solskjaer new contract.

Mediocrity, mediocrity, mediocrity. We just love it.

Club is absolutely fecked from top to bottom at every conceivable level.

Rewarding mediocrity with new contracts. Where have I seen it before, hmmmm

True and yet we couldn’t beat the Spain’s 7th best team.

I don’t know what you are trying to argue? Ole’s bang average. Anyone arguing that good luck to you.
I argued your logic, which was blatantly wrong in your reaction and reply to Hilton. There is no point debating you if you can’t tell the difference between 12 and 19. Other then that I didn’t say anything about how good our manager is or isn’t. There are enough things to critique without making up false ones. Carry on screaming bloody murder though, it really suits you.

Just wanted to write that. We are falling lower and lower. Oh well, i guess it will be celebration day among rival fans when he signs new contract

No he's still here fecking things up until the end of 2021. He won't be here 2022.
I see, so he is bent on fooking us as deep as possible then. The only way out of this mess is continuation of protests.

Like all this civilised debating is washed with me. The manager is crap and I don’t care if a 6 point or 12 point gap that makes you feel smug about supporting him. Good on you.

Last night proved when he has to make that proactive change he's found wanting yet again, yes there is no doubt it was a risk bringing on an Amad but sometimes you just have to take these gambles and just hope that it pays off

It makes absolutely no sense to tie yourself up like this as a club. Wait and see. If we smash it next season then reward him then. The guy hasn't exactly got an array of clubs queuing up to snatch him off us. I mean, who knows if it's true, really. But it wouldn't surprise you with this club.

Exactly. We can easily wait until next summer to give him an extension.

Ole is an absolutely terrible manager, but it's also important to consider how badly we need winners in the starting eleven. Our squad is full of fairweather players who down tools in the face of any adversity whatsoever. It's no surprise that a real player like Cavani played well and gave a good account of himself, also no surprise that the rest of our sorry team did nothing in the whole match...

As much as I like Ole and respect him as a player, he has got too many decisions wrong. Last night being the pinnacle of them all. Wrong team, wrong tactics, wrong use of subs, wrong keeper. It was like watching a bad LVG team with all the sideways passing. Yes we may have won if Rashford had put that chance away, but it would have been papering over the cracks. Villarreal were like a supercharged Burnley. You could tell from their work rate and challenges that they wanted that cup. We cruised around waiting for Bruno or Pogba to do something, they didn’t. Scott McT our best player and Cavani must have run a half marathon. The rest were useless last night. Still reckon Rashford has played with an injury for most of the season. My life will be hell if the Bitters win on Saturday.

I think we need a manager that can beat the odds because our rivals are among the strongest in Europe with top coaches and we have an incompetent board. There are managers that have beaten the odds at the highest level - Klopp, Simeone, Conte. They will win us the league.

I'm not going to write off Ole given he's abit of a mystery with us being his only experience at top level and we've been progressing since he came but its difficult to see it with him

There’s no debating if you don’t understand that the point total of the team in first place needs to be taken into account when comparing the gap between first and second across two seasons.

I'm not moaning. In fact I think we share very similar opinions (except on our attacking play of course).

There has been progress, but entering the third season is it honestly for the clubs best to give him longer, or are we veering into a vanity project in the hopes of a romantic story of an ex player returning us to glory.

I don't think there's a single fan on the forum who doesn't want him to succeed, but are we really seeing greenshoots, or is he simply not shitting the bed as bad as the last 3?

If we give him 200 mill this summer and he scrapes top 4 again is that enough? When are we as a fanbase going to demand silverware?

If we get some proper signings? No, scraping top 4 is not enough, because that would mean hes going backwards.

Also, although he takes all the focus and bears most of the responsibility for last night, hes not the only one at fault. Several players also let us down

3 semis lost. One 1/4 lost. One final lost. Zero trophies. And he gets new contract.
We sacked two proven managers after one bad half season but giving new contract to serial loser. Unbelievable.

He and the team look like serial losers right now and it really hurts me to say that

Best news ever! Really looking forward to three more years with Ole. Best football we’ve seen since Fergie. And we might see great things with a full backing in the summer!

Took over midways through the season.

1 full season: 3rd in the Premier League. Semifinal in every cup
2 full season: 2nd in the Premier League. Final in Europa League, Semifinal in League Cup, Q-final in TheFA Cup.

Progress? Of course. Not that difficult to see.

Next year:
3 full season: Fighting for trophies (at least Premier League ) after being given right amount time to show.

I feel the same way with Ole as I did with Moyes when he took over from SAF. Fight for top 4 most likely. Could potentially win the title if he gets his big signings and if other teams around him have a bad season.

Although there are managers at a higher level that can take us to the level we are not just an underdog, but one of the favorites.

God, you guys are lucky Woodward is leaving. What a fecking clown he is. I see he's leaving one last feck up on the way out. Why does it have to be a three year contract, you fecking Moron. Have you ever heard of a 1 year rolling deal? Ole would be so grateful that he would sign anything you put in front of him.

I'm an outsider but the man's incompetence rankles with me. I wonder how many millions he's being paid on his way out?

Hes still done better than both of those "proven managers". LvG spent a fortune and left behind a worse squad than he inherited, 4th and 5th in the league in a period where both Livepool and City were shite compared to today, all while playing dreaful football.

Jose did decently enough, but he tried to burn the house down and he had to go. If we had not sacked him things could have been much worse'

"Serial loser". So unless you win all the cups you participate in your a serial loser?

Yeah need 3 first XI signing absolute bare minimum and even then will he make the big calls next time it gets tight

The big mistake he did yesterday was picking and leaving Rashford on for about 75 mins too long. Other than that, no one on here had any problems with the team selection, its just that everyone suddenly turned into captain hindsight today

Cant believe some on here, ohh yes I can come on ffs, it was a game Ole was on a hiding to nothing, win it would have been oh well it was only Villareal, havent won a trophy in there life before had to happen , Ole done nothing etc etc. Well lose it's even worse, they cant win no matter what he does.
The usually suspects are out today after they sobered up talking there usuall shite, on Sky on Radio etc. Hes to nice he didn't want to upset any players etc etc, embarrassing was another bandied about, the only embarrassment is the piss head who's a so called pundit. Results like this draws out cockroaches and in the main theres loads of them. Ole doesnt stand a chance until he replicates 99.

Ole still hasn't achieved what Mourinho has though. Second with 80+ points, European Cup. Dont think he ever will either.

I feel this is the best he can do. We're unlikely to reach another European cup final under him and he blew his chance miserably. 80 plus points under Solskjaer is a pipe dream IMO. We need someone to take us to another level
