Nuri Sahin

Still not many signs of life for him at Madrid and still no obvious reason why. Blaming the lack of a pre-season after he's been fit for months is a bit puzzling.
Sahin was out for roughly six months (April - October) and how much playing time has Mourinho exactly given him?

He was Dortmund's key player, literally every attack had his signature. He excelled and was voted the Bundesliga's best player last season. It looked to me that his knee injury was more complicated than first thought.

So, I've not seen him play enough to know how good he is/could be. For those who have, is he a PL kind if player?
If you saw him last year, your inner muppet would have cried out for us to sign him.

Real Madrid willing to listen to loan offers for Sahin - report

The Spanish capital club reportedly feel that the Turkish midfielder is not yet ready to be a part of the squad and will try to let him gain experience elsewhere

Nuri Sahin - Real Madrid
Real Madrid will listen to loan offers for out-of-favour Nuri Sahin in the summer, Marca reports.

The Turkey international joined Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in a €10 million deal last summer but has failed to make his mark at the Santiago Bernabeu, with only five competitive appearances to date for the club.

It is believed that Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is interested in sending Sahin out on loan for at least one season to get midfielder more games under his belt before he can become an active player of Los Blancos' squad.

A move back to Dortmund is mooted as the likeliest scenario, after the German club reportedly failed in their efforts to sign Sahin in January, but Marca suggests that the 23-year-old has also garnered interest from several Premier League clubs.

Can't blame someone for trying to step up his game big time. Who knows what would have happened had he not gotten injured.

Khedira has been very good this season and Diarra has not disappointed his manager when called upon. Kaka is also back to playing well and Alonso always plays. Very tough for anyone who misses pre-season to break into that team. Not a single player in our midfield would get into theirs.

He was fantastic last season, if we can get him I'd be delighted, he would improve our midfield so much. He hasn't had basically any chances this season, because of injury, but once he starts getting a consistent run in any team he will show his class.

Would certainly do a great job for practically all the top PL sides.

He's scarcely been seen - 24 minutes in La Liga. Last appearance was in the Copa del Rey before Christmas - against a division 2B team.

Just for comparison with their other squad players, in La Liga Callejon's had 466 minutes, Granero 378, Altintop 124. Even Coentrao, Marcelo and Pepe have played more minutes in their midfield.

The loan sounds like a good move for Madrid (though I wouldn't be surprised if he wants a transfer). It was rumoured they were looking for a loan for him in January and I admit I wondered then if we'd be tempted, given our injury list. But I guess Scholes's return covered that gap.

He could be the next robben/sneijder/van der vaart

Available at a reasonable price as well

He was a bit of a cnut during the transfer saga telling the media the Dortmund fans knew what his choice will be and where he belongs..... and then he left ^^

Doesnt mean nothing though really.

Sahin on top form was as good as any midfielder player i have seen.

Very mobile, great shot, good at free kicks and corners, and can dictate play well.

Also his defensive work is very underrated. Would be an ideal midfielder for us IMO, and if we can get him on the cheap then whats the problem.

Would absolutely love us to sign Sahin, he is just the type of all round midfielder we are looking for. I was so impressed by his passing ability and vision when he was at Dortmund. At still only 23 he is just the right age too, please please sign him up Fergie!

Started against APOEL in the first leg and played 80+ mins and was on the bench for the Osasuna game.

Any chance Real do a Sneijder on him and let us have him cheap?

I think there's a chance. A season like that doesn't make you favorable at Madrid, injury or no.

Interesting observation about Sahin, basically saying how Mourinho favours a formation with 2 DM's and 1 playmaker, but Sahin doesn't quite fit into either of those categories, especially since Alonso is a superior deep-lying playmaker and Ozil is a better attacking midfielder. Still, he's like the two positions rolled into one, and would do wonders for our team and our formation with 2 CM.

Any rumours he's available this summer or we're interested? Would be ideal for us.

Such a waste he isn't being played. I'd carry him here if that is what it takes.

He isn't hardly being wasted. He was injured for the majority of the season and you can't throw him into the team when you're playing for the title and Alonso and Khedira are both playing well. In the games I've seen him so far he hasn't been very good. When you're new at a club you need a good pre-season to start with. Otherwise it will be an uphill battle.

He might not be on Alonsos level right now since his injuries, but i would of said at dortmund he was showing more than alonso ever did.

For 1 his set pieces, and he scored alot more goals than Alonso has too, all from the same position.

Not the same position. Alonso plays very deep. Khedira goes further forward than he does. Sahin wouldn't be an Alonso replacement. Alonso is there for distribution. He's one of those players that can replicate Scholes in that way of switching flanks with a high success rate. In front of him he's got Ronaldo, Benzema, Higuain, Di Maria, Özil and Kaka. It's not his business to score goals and it's not at all what he lacks in his game because it's simply not needed at all.

Of course he is when he isn't being played every week. He was immense for Dortmund, being the midfielder who created most chances for sides in the top European leagues on average per game.

Totally wasted in Madrid when he isn't playing every week, no matter the reason. I understand Mourinho not wanting to break up a working partnership, but that doesn't mean he isn't being wasted sitting on the bench.

Madrid got him for a bargain too, £8million or so wasnt it? If they'd agree to sell us to him for around £8-15million I'd say that would be a terrific bit of business.

He was injured for the majority of the time. First of all he missed all of the pre-season. So he has not match fitness at all and that takes some time to get back. Can't play for the reserves. Then he gets injured again so that 1 month work of getting into shape is lost again. Just too many injuries. Unlucky. Not his season.

Cleverley sometimes doesn't make our bench. Yet we lack central midfielders. Reason for that is that he's not 100% despite having come off the bench and being back in full training. Little injuries set you back when you're recovering. You don't want to suffer a relapse.

That was the exact position that he played for dortmund.

He would be the "deep lying playmaker" collecting the ball of the cbs, and switching play or knocking the ball over the defence.

Bender would be the "khedira" type player, who would harry the opposition and be a box to box type midfielder.

Alonso is perhaps told to sit because his defensive qualities far outway his attacking threat, so it suits him.

As you have mentioned real dont really need any help infront of him, but for Dortmund they did, and he excelled at it.

To say he could not do Alonsos job is crazy tbh.

Sahin moves more with the ball and he wasn't playing so deep. He might be deep at the start of the attack but when I say Alonso is deep I mean he stays that way. He rarely comes all the way to the box. He's always outside of it. I reckon Sahin is a bit more like Xavi then Xabi in how he plays. Very few teams play with a guy like Alonso.

I didn't say Sahin couldn't do it. Didn't touch that subject at all.

At £15m, he'd be an absolute bargain. With the figures being quoted for the likes of Modric and Martinez, Sahin can do just as good as a job for us. He's very competent defensively, is creative and excels in passing, he's exactly the type of midfielder we need. This is all a moot point though if Real aren't prepared to sell him or we're not interested.

Absolutely agree, If SAF wants a player who can cover for both Carrick and Scholes, then Sahin is the man. I really think this could happen if SAF moves quickly for him. Madrid have not been blown away by him, and could decide to make a few quid on a player they don't really need.

We would benefit hugely from a player of his technical ability. This is my muppet signing of the summer. Out of all the midfielders out there, i cannot think of anyone who would be a better signing for us than Sahin, and would represent unbelievable value for under £20m. Make it happen SAF, please!!!!

It seems Inter and Malaga are in for him.

Inter are turning their attention towards Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin, though face competition from Malaga.

The former Borussia Dortmund star has struggled to find space in Madrid after his €10m move and Jose Mourinho has reportedly given the all-clear for his departure.

According to Tuttosport, Inter could see Sahin snatched away by Liga side Malaga, who would be willing to take the player on loan.

The 23-year-old Turkish international playmaker has also been linked with Manchester United.

For 10 million euro's surely he's worth a punt.

Even if he just turns out to be a squad player it wouldn't be a bad idea with Giggs and Scholes coming to the end of their careers.

jesus christ if they let him go for 10 mil euros and we arent interested that is insane.
