Nuri Sahin

They only paid that for him and he's not exactly done much to increase his value. Plus didn't they sell WS for around that.

True but he only had 1 year left on his contract thats why.

If he is selling for that price, then thats transfer value right there!

give kagawa a team mate too play with

Doesn't suit the Mourinho style I guess.

I would love to have him here.

Me too, I thought Mourinho had full conmtrol over transfers though, no players in he didn't want.

You take this transfer gossip with no quotes as a statement that Real Madrid want to get rid?

I was just following along with the story, I suppose I could have phrased it "Why would Real not give him more time if this is true?".

He looks the kind of player that would fit into our team nicely. Adds something we have lacked for a while, ticks boxes for age and value.

Would be a great signing.

Feck Lucas and buy this guy for 10-15 million!

(Who am I kidding, we're not buying a midfielder... ever).

We could buy Sahin and a left back and still have money left over for the price of one Lucas.

Apparently we haven't shown any interest in him this summer. I asked Miguel Delaney(journalist), who seems fairly trustworthy.

Yeah, I have seen him say it before. He seems available, at the very least on a loan deal, and I think he's the type of midfielder we need. Deeper lying, and capable of running a game. He would be a perfect fit, and I hope we would be interested.

With Modric coming in someone is going to get a bargain with this lad.

Spent most of last year injured didn't he? A major concern for clubs that - even at £10 - £15 million, especially if injures are hinting at long term issues. He'll be on a tidy sum at Madrid so the actual cost will be far more than the transfer fee, and nobody wants to be landed with a crock.

Seems strange that if he's such a top player, theres been hardly any speculation about him joining top sides - especially given that he'll get little playing time when Modric arrives.

Such a shame, would have been a cracking buy for us. I bet he'll go for peanuts too. Have SAF ever bought any Real or Barca rejects?

Nope SAF extremely rarely goes for big club rejects, it seems like he thinks that if they fail at one big club why would they flourish at another big club like United?

hughes failed at barca and bayern and SAF brought him back.

an exception I guess because of his history with us prior.

Still I find the logic in that reasoning to be poor because players fail at top clubs for reasons that could be particular to that club or league.

Exactly. I mean it's not as if players who have failed to make it at real have gone on to be class elsewhere. Oh wait...

Its abit harsh to suggest he's 'failed' at Franco FC. I mean he was injured for most the season and even when fit he had to compete with Ozil, Khedira, Alonso and co. Granted, he should have anticipated this when he signed that contract.

Regardless, he'd still probably walk into our team so on that reason alone I really think we ought to swallow our pride with this 'reject' bollocks. At this stage I'd take any 'reject' so long as they strengthen our midfield.

Just because we haven't signed anyone who has failed to make it at Barca or Real doesn't mean it is our policy not to. I highly doubt that's the reason we don't seem to be interested, though admittedly I'm not sure what the actual reason could be.

Im not sure how Sahin could be called a "failure", considering he played less than what 10games due to injuries and the form of his other team mates.

If you look at his Dortmund form he is an outstanding player; he would be easily good enough for our midfield IMO.

or maybe clubs are reluctant to move on him until he proves his fitness again

no-one wants to be caught in another Hargreaves situation

would be perfect for a season long loan with an option to buy if there are issues over his fitness

was reading Marca online the other day and I think Mourinho told the press he would give him a chance

if, and when it seems, Modric comes in I can't see Alonso/Khedira/Lass/Sahin/Ozil/Canales/Granero/Kaka/Callejon all staying in the Midfield and Attacking Midfield roles

they can't get rid of Kaka because he's too expensive
they won't get rid of Khedira and maybe Lass as they are good defensive cover to Alonso
I think Granero/Callejon/Canales are good young prospects

I think Madrid would sell for a half decent offer

Lot of good players on Real Madrid's bench. I agree with the three Spaniards. They are all fine players. However Callejon is a super sub and Granero can play anywhere across the midfield. They are also both HG players and Madrid can't afford to throw those away. Canales signed a 2 year loan deal so he'll be with Valencia next season as well.

I think Lass is probably furthest behind in the pecking order. Khedira had a good season and he fits Mourinho's style of play very well. He won't be a cover for Alonso. He'll start more than half of the games.

A Bayern supporting friend of mine says Bayern will be in for him the second Real Madrid sign Modric. He says they want a CM and Javi Martinez is their preferred choice but he's too expensive.

If Real do sign Modric then selling Sahin would make sense as he would be surplus to requirements.

Didn't Sahin play with Kagawa?

Yep, he was captain during Kagawa's first season, when they won their first Bundesliga title iirc. Quality, would love him here, perefect for our 2 man midfield, either alongside Carrick as a Scholes like playmaker, or even as an alternative to Carrick.

He is turkish though isn't he, even if he was born in Germany, and im sure he plays for Turkey.

He does - because that's where his parents are from. He's still been brought up in Germany and is effectively German.

People would happily have a player wth fitness concerns who can't break into the first team of Madrid and expect him to automatically improve our midfield just because he's a midfielder.
