Killed any chance of us getting something from the game with that decision. Being way overplayed though because he’s one of three decent footballers in the squad
I really hope it's not the case but we've seen it happen repeatedly for years, makes me scared for every player who comes here. It's like there's some curse at Carrington. It's happened ever since Di Maria. We’re bringing him down to our level, so nothing new here. He’ll continue to decline until he plateaus at mediocrity like the rest of the team.
You’re not wrong. Every player we bring here gets ruined.I really hope it's not the case but we've seen it happen repeatedly for years, makes me scared for every player who comes here. It's like there's some curse at Carrington. It's happened ever since Di Maria.
FairsEnjoy him whilst he lasts. We’ll make a shite player out of him yet
DalotesqueI didn't see why he thought he had to lunge like that. Yoro was there and the situation didn't call for a desperate tackle. Going to ground especially in the penalty box is always crazy
He wasn't Illmatic today but I Am... sure It Was Written because he is Magic and meant to learn from this... afterwards Life Is Good again.
thought that was Wan Bissaka today..
Exactly. AWB made so many quality challenges in the box for us. With AWB, we'd probably be more likely to win if he was playing. Giving away that pen lost us the game. The players lost their heads after that.He would have won the ball. He gave away a penalty like that once with tens of other slide tackles in the box
True. I was just remembering in his last season wuth us AWB gave away a very similar penalty. It's just the style of defending that reminds me of Aaron. Maz did another dangerous sliding tackle in the game afterwards, where he won the ball.He would have won the ball. He gave away a penalty like that once with tens of other slide tackles in the box

Maz was bad today, and he's not been great the last 2/3 matches. Fitting right in with the squad now, I guess.

This specific game, yes. Mazraoui gave away a pen and lost us the game. He wasn't playing well before that point, either.More likely to win with AWB?
I fully agree that he's played well for us the majority of the season. He's been one of the only good performers. I was only talking about this game specifically. He wasn't playing well and I think the average AWB performance is better than the one Mazraoui gave us. AWB is very unlikely to give away a pen, but I do remember the one he gave away last season. That was incredibly unlike him.I actually wanted us to try AWB at RCB like we are now playing Mazraoui at times. But we didnt do it. We did it with Shaw, but not him. Why? Because he could concentrate on winning the ball on the floor and with 2 other CBs, he's a bit more covered in the air.
Regardless, while its true that in and around the box AWB made lots of sliding tackles and most often won the ball with last season's penalty being one that sticks out where he got it wrong, Mazraoui has done very well playing RCB in almost every other match than this one. I think its fair to give him a break and say he'll probably get it right next time and personally I'm still confident in him at RCB
I know some want him to just play RWB but I think our CBs need him in the backline for his defensive work. He's an aggressive ball winner and our other CBs lack that a bit. Not just the ones we have now, but the previous ones as well. We always seem to have CBs who stand off and dont get tight. Mazraoui gets in there and wins the ball and that allows the others to do what they seem to want to do and be more laid back and deal with loose balls that Mazraoui pressing and getting tight will help cause.

I want to see more of Yoro at RCB. I understand what you're saying, but we bought Yoro to play that position. He needs time there to develop and this season is practically a right off at this point. I'd rather us spend the time developing him and if he makes mistakes, it is what it is. Mazraoui will still likely get plenty of games at RCB. We'll have other injuries and have to move players around.

Yes I'd agree with this. He's not just a good ball winner and defensive player but he's also very good on the ball, which again I don't think any of our players past or present can do as well as him in the RCB role. Maybe Yoro but he's still got a lot to learn and to get up to speed. Not only that but I think he doesn't have the athletic profile to really give what we need currently as a RWB. He may have a higher consistency technical proficiency and game intelligence compared to someone like Dalot (at least for the current season) but the latter simply gets to the wide areas more with his athleticism and underrated ball carrying/dribbling .
Also we've seen from Amad what could be possible from a wingback adding to the attack. He isnt like that. I think we should be looking for someone to give most of what Amad has given us at right wingback. Quenda would be like that, but if we arent going to go for him then someone else like them. Quick, agile and able to beat a man easily and then able to find a player
Antony might be a decent holdover and hes linked up quite well with Amad in the mins they've had together.
Granted I'd want another player on the left with similar qualities so plenty of improvement on what we currently have with Dalot and other players trying to play wingback.
