That was my rationale for holding out a couple more turns, but then, I don't have Bati. Assuming the peak you are going with is his La Viola incarnation over winning a lot of shiny trophies with Milan.

Fiorentina is the best Rui Costa in my opinion.

No doubt. He was still classy at Milan, but lost a step going forwards, as borne out by his reducing outputs.

To be fair, the allure of Beckham's crosses towards Ronaldo didn't correlate well with my original tactical plan, so maybe it's for the best!

Agree. Just that I've seen him used in his own Milan role in remakes of that team and with multiple cups referenced... Frankly, it's a cog role, I could think of truckloads of players that could do that and still get all these cups. What he did for Fiorentina? Sooooo much harder, try replicate it with someone else and you are totally up shit creek.

I thought Rui Costa was a real disappointment at Milan. At Fiorentina he essentially matched Zidane at Juve and wasn't too old or looking in decline when he moved, it should have been a showcase for him in a stronger overall team, a chance to cement himself as an all-time great but instead he regressed into a more limited Albertini'ish style of play.

yeah I went back and forth on whether to gamble and hold off a little longer, but didn’t think he’d make it all the way back up again really.
