Yet the depressing thing is if they reject the deal that will arguably make NI more properous on the back of "protecting the Union" even if that means economic consequences people will still come out and vote for them.

Crazy.

The Tories just need to call DUP's bluff - they either back down or they possible bring down the government and will never get an inch from the Tories ever again.
out of interest lets say they voted down the budget and triggered an election
its my understanding NI is fairly pro remain
Would this possibly mean some negativity to the DUP and could they then loose a chunk of their seets anyway (or is the voting just too split along traditional party voting lines and they will pretty much get the same seats whatever happens)

This. Possibly even an increase.

It's hard to say - you could certainly argue that and I would hope that would be the case HOWEVER they would sell it to people that they alone stood up for the rights of the UK and fought for NI to remain firmly within the union - so much so they brought down the government. I could see them getting more votes than they have ever received sadly.

Drug dealer shot in the head outside his kids school. No sympathy for him obviously but fecking rough on his kids especially at this time of year and rough on the people who witnessed it. Thank God no one else was hurt, disgusting to do that outside a school.

Really?? It is attitudes like yours that give paramilitaries in our communities the freedom to do whatever they like be it kneecappings, beatings, or murders. Sorry but it is completely unacceptable to have people being murdered in our society no matter if they are drug dealers, thieves, etc. - they should be put in front of a court and dealt with that way. To not condemn completely is to give the impression you at worst support it or at least are ambivalent to it.

Have I any sympathy for a drug dealer who was killed? Absolutely not.

You made that clear. What a disgusting attitude you have. I take it you are also happy for people to get shot down alleyways or beaten to a pulp in front of their children too? Is this the society you want?

I'm from that immediate area and the general consensus is not of a celebration of his death, but there's certainly no wave or outpouring of mourning for him either, it's like we have grown immune to such instances. He was a bad man, known to have close links to the police, so this notion of he should be tried before the courts is plain and utter nonsense. He was never going to be arrested. Driving around working class west belfast in a porsche, perma tanned and built up on roids. He knew he was untouchable by the police, and he's not the only one. The community is more dismayed by the brutal killing being done in front of the schools. One bullet ricocheted and we could have been talking kids dying. He was involved in nefarious activities on both sides of the border, he has links to the Hutch/Kinahan feud, so he wasn't killed by nice guys looking out for the safety of the community, he was killed by rival criminal gang elements. The days of punishment shootings are long gone, due to many years ago when people realised that more and more of them were to settle old scores as opposed to any sort of local community justice. This is criminal on criminal crime, it's wrong 100% but you go into this trade that is one of the distinct possibilites that may unfortunately arise.

Yeah of course, because thats what I said...Nothing disgusting about my attitude, I said I have no sympathy for a scumbag drug dealer who was killed, nor do I support the scumbag who did it. They are all drug dealing scum and the more who are taken off the streets permanently the better.

Interesting that at the funeral today the family called for no retaliation. Strange thing to say for a man who apparently according to them was not involved in the crimes that he's been accused of.

That seems a strange interpretation of what he actually said, which was that he didn't feel sorry for the person in question.

If a rapist gets murdered on the street, I don't agree with the action but I also do not feel sorry for the rapist. It's hard to feel sympathetic for somebody who has knowingly caused harm for others, that's all.

So I was reading about The Troubles a few days ago. And went on a Wikipedia-spree. It was quite the read, I was totally unaware of all the violence that took place. It was a real eye-opener.

Just a matter of time before it all kicks off again, times changed? People moved on? My arse. It hasn’t changed much in the grand scheme of things and once *the boys* on both sides get their significant funding cut they will get bored and start all the shite again.
