Gaming No Man's Sky | 25th May New FREE Update: Leviathan

Agree that it's likely to be a disappointment now after everyone waiting so long. While there are so many planets to visit (and even more you never will), I bet it'll get boring after visiting about 50.

Also, by now they should have just delayed it to launch on the same day as PSVR. Would probably be the default purchase for anyone buying a bundle.

This is going to be such a disappointment.

Only to the people expecting it to be more than it is. Unless you're a kid, it's a bit daft to go into a game thinking you can blow planets up or whatever, when simply doing some research will tell you otherwise. Hello Games have not done or said anything to give the wrong impression either.

I'm 100% sure I won't be disappointed based on what I know about the game.

I'm not a kid, thanks for the assumption though. ;)

I have been waiting for this for so long now I am losing all interest in the game, another delay spells trouble to me.

 Can't say I'm surprised about the delay, they've been postponing this forever. I still stand by my original comment that I don't expect this release in 2016 and I will not be shocked at all if it does not ever get released either or comes out as F2P or cheap PSN title in 2-3 years.

Postponing forever? As I mentioned in the post above, they only set a date once. Care to point to any other release dates they've shunted?

The Witcher 3 was postponed by a year, incidentally.

Was really hoping to waste my summer on this. Now I'll have to pick up division again :(

First trailers said 2015.

Witcher 3 is a massive game with a story line that was postponed at the beginning of new gen cycle. No Man's Sky is three years into the life of new generation.

First 5 trailers, no mention of 2015. The only place I heard 2015 was, I think, Sean Murray saying 2015 in an interview or something, and that wasn't exactly in a nailed-on way, more of an "we expect to release in 2015". The only actual release date they've given is June 21st, and then the 2 month postponement.

Witcher is a bigger undertaking in a way, but NMS is massive and unprecedented, and so a 2 month postponement is hardly anything crazy. No such grief given to Deus Ex, either, which I'm also looking forward to, and which was supposed to come out this Spring, but is now an August release.

I can't believe people actually care that much about release dates compared to the game they'll end up getting.

I get it to a certain extent. I was absolutely blown away by the game idea when they revealed it at E3 2014, and they've not been doing too well in managing people's expectations, with Sean Murray saying things like it'll be out "soon" last summer, but overall it's not as if people have waited a crazy long time, and it's not as if it's a long postponement or there have been several.

People seem to be hyper critical about this game because of the "promise" to delivera ton of procedurally generated content, which they then tie to Spore being a massive disappointment, and it's heavily anticipated so people wig out about how long it's been in the making.

Yeah I can sort of understand all that as well. It's losing sight of the goal a bit though, I think. The most important thing must be that the game is great, surely. No one's going to bother with a game just because it's released ahead of schedule unless it's actually worth playing.
I just don't get why a more or less arbitrary point in time matters that much to people.

Then again I've never bought a game on the release date.

I'm still pretty certain I'm gonna get it unless the reviews are properly gash, but I'll probably avoid a pre-order now.

It's such a cool idea but I don't believe it'll be implemented with enough depth to make it interesting for more than the initial 'woah, this is cool'. People have obviously already resigned themselves to that. I won't be jealous until it's done with a game that's more involving.

I'm so on the fence about this one. Since it was first announced I was so excited, but now that I see there's no plot at all it has me worried. I know there's lore and loads to explore and do, but without much of a reason to do them (other than getting to the centre of the universe) it's just going to feel a little pointless. Like in Fallout for example, I spend a lot of time randomly exploring without much of an aim, but there are actually quests that point me in the general direction I end up exploring in.

I was going to pre-order this, but not sure I should afterall.

I kind of think this is going to end up like Eve Online. Not a bad game, but without any sort of plot, it's reliant on the players to make the plot, and that is not for everyone. I also have doubts at how a "casual" Eve Online would work, since the complexity and mundaneness of Eve Online is meant to be part of its appeal.

A game you'd prefer to watch others play, not play yourself.

Speaking of pre-orders, I wonder if I'll have to pay a visit to the Gamestop I pre ordered at as the release date has changed, or will I be ok?

the developers had a legal battle with sky with the usage of the word "sky"... could possibly be the reason the game was delayed for the umpteenth time

What nonsense laws are these. How can someone own a word?

Apparently it's more to do with them having to be seen to make these sort of challenges rather than them actually wanting to, as it could otherwise count against them in a similar case that might actually matter.

I'd imagine you'll be ok, it's the same game, just coming out later than originally planned. That said we don't have Gamestop over here, so no idea what they're like in this regard.

There's been death threats over the delay apparently.
Bloody hell that's way overboard some people need a reality check its a game for chrust sake, I get annoyed when a game I want is delayed but I always think being annoyed about it wont get me anywhere.

Some people are nuts! Crazy really, it's just a game ffs

Gamers going overboard?! What sort of madness is this?!

Game finally went gold. Hopefully no more delays now.

Hope it's good but can't shake the feeling it will be rather bland.

Christ that guy holding the disc is the image of my mate, had to double check.

From the way this intro starts, with the four keywords at the bottom, it seems that this is the first of four trailers, emphasising the "explore" part of the game.

Less than four weeks to go, omgomgomgomg.

First prompting from Amazon to pre-order this today. Never usually pre-order anything, what are the best sites for it? Any that tend to send out before release date?

Second vid out now - "Fight"

Fight is not the biggest attraction for me. It seems like if you start shit down on the planet you very quickly get sentinels on your arse, and it escalates quickly. I think I'd be more likely to get engaged if I see undue aggression towards others and I can make a difference.

Well, at least with my first character, the starfleet drop-out.
