Gaming No Man's Sky | 25th May New FREE Update: Leviathan

er yeah that's what i meant.

Cool. i bet this game doesn't run on my lappy anyways so you're probably safe from my virtual spunk.

Imagine the scene: some Swagginator spunk hits your windshield, and the nearest service station is 12 light years away *groan*

I really wish the multiplayer aspect was a bigger focus. for me the games which have kept me the most occupied have allways had a strong multiplayer component. being able to party up and explore the galaxy with mates/fight over territory could have been such a cool dynamic.

Your loss is my gain. Imagine if the known universe was swarming with a bunch of arseholes looking to feck with peaceful explorers, gah! I like the low-level chance of bumping into someone, but that it may very well not happen.

Id imagine the central planets would be a hub of activity, trading and PvP, and those who are looking for a more solo experience have 99.98% of the rest of the universe to explore to their whim. say the game is an instant classic, and has an active base of 1- maybe 5 million players, the galaxy is still huge enough for everyone to get what they want out of it.

I just think a whole metagame of clans and factions arising in the community by itself could have been really cool, but while still possible right now, would be next to impossible to put into practise given the scale.

Who knows, maybe over time there gets a happy medium as the player base shrinks down to the center of the universe.

I don't have a PS4 and my laptop isn't powerful enough for newer games. :(

Any chance of it coming to XBone in the future?

I'm very happy that it isn't. Way too many games focus on multiplayer these days and even single player games often have a tacked-on multiplayer just because big publishers believe that they can't sell a lot of copies without that.

That's the one reason why I have some grudging respect for Bethesda: at least they kept Fallout strictly single player. Elder Scrolls fans got screwed though.

Online only games are annoying. Once servers are down you can't play game anymore, even single player side of things.

Yeah same, though I'm sure they could potentially just split it in half at some point in the future and have one where players can team up, another that's more of a single player experience? Doesn't sound too hard. Main thing is just making sure the gameplay is fun.

I think this could be fantastic, but I really hope that players have the option to find others if they wish to - ie. travelling to these central planets and not have that journey require months of gameplay. But if it manages that, it sounds incredible.

This is a game that cries out for The Oculus Rift.

Deffo. If Playstation VR is compatible with it, I'll have a hard time not spunking my money on it

Yeee... saw that. Fantastic to finally see the inside of a space station, a structure on the planet, and an alien, and more of the UI and what resources can be put to use for.

Part of me wants to nevermind any of the videos that'll be coming out, I don't want to know too much of what I'm going to see in this game.

Bit that zooms out to the galaxy map is unreal. "My god, it's full of stars!"

Less than a month to go! Sweet jesus I can't wait.

My pre-order includes a space ship with an upgraded hyperdrive, but I think I'ma nevermind using that. I want to start from scratch like the game intended us to.

The last video looks really promising. That said, it is hyped to such a high level, that disappointment will be almost inevitable. I´ll wait and find out if the mechanics (fighting; building; trading) are actually robust and it doesn´t just end up as walking simulator.

Delayed apparently :(

The ambitious space game No Man’s Sky has been delayed, two sources tellKotaku. We don’t know exactly what the new release date is—and it may not be finalized yet—but we’re hearing it’s been bumped until at least July or August.

Developed by a small UK-based team called Hello Games, No Man’s Sky has been much hyped since it was revealed back in 2013, seeing extensive coverage everywhere from the Stephen Colbert show to The New Yorker. Last October, the developers announced that it’d be out in June of 2016, but that appears to have changed.

A reliable Kotaku source was the first to inform us of the delay. A second source, who works at GameStop, said they received marketing materials today for No Man’s Sky with the original June 21 release date. However, stores were informed that the release date is no longer correct and that they should cover it up with a “Coming Soon” label:

Everything about this game seems almost too good to be true. How can a small indie dev possibly deliver what seems to be one of the most ambitious game projects ever? With that said the video reveals and trailers have been really promising, so maybe, just maybe...they can do it?

If they need to delay the release to get it right then they should 100% do it. I already enjoy Elite Dangerous and No Man's Sky looks like it could take it to another level.

Definitely seems too good to be true. Looks amazing.

There has been nothing from Hello Games on Twitter yet anyway. Hopefully it's just click bait from Kotaku.

This has rattled me a bit. It's like being a child and hearing that Christmas may have been postponed.

It's kotaku, there's high chance it's entirely made up or they have been mugged off.

They are not the brightest bunch.

Word on reddit is that its only a 3 day delay to 24 June.

Ì took a work week off for its release... the 24th would be the Friday, which I wouldn't have worked anyway

I feel like it's gonna fall short of the hype. The game would've been impressive had it came out of the blue like an indie title would be but the amount of hype attached to it now means people would be expecting more.

Also, damn the delay. God knows when this will arrive on a PC.

I wonder whether it's because it's had poor user reviews and now they're trying to throw in some last minute half measures.

Hopefully it's just overrun schedule.

The hype is over the top, its setting it up to be a disappointment.

It really is. It reminds of Spore.

I really don't get that. The comparison only popped up because of the procedurally generated content and claims of virtually having infinity as your playground. Fairly big points, but it doesn't make them similar games, or make their hype similar.

Anyway, here's Sean Murray's statement:

Hello, Sean Murray from Hello Games here, working extremely hard on our game, No Man’s Sky.

The game really has come together, and it’s such an incredible relief. As we sit an play it now, and as I watch playtesters every day, I can finally let myself get excited. We’re actually doing this.

However, as we approached our final deadlines, we realized that some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards. I have had to make the tough choice to delay the game for a few weeks to allow us to deliver something special.

After a short delay, No Man’s Sky will launch in North America on August 9, in Europe August 10, and in the UK August 12.

We understand that this news is disappointing. Making this game is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, but we are so close now, and we’re prepared to make the tough choices to get it right.

The universe of No Man’s Sky is incredibly vast. More than you can imagine. This is a type of game that hasn’t been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation.

And despite all of that, development is genuinely going well. This is the hardest working, most talented team I’ve ever worked with, and I’m so proud of what we’re doing. For all our sakes though, we get one shot to make this game and we can’t mess it up.

To the loyal community who’s stuck by our side since the unveiling of No Man’s Sky years ago, we hope you’ll accept our sincere apology and I am humbly asking that you’ll still look forward to exploring our universe despite the slight delay.

Thank you so much,
Sean

I'm amazed that this is still a thing in 2016. There's really no good reason not to release a given game at the same time everywhere.
