Gaming Nintendo Switch

I played for an hour last night it was really fun. Played a couple of online matches too which were as manic as you would imagine.

Everything controls really well which is probably the most important thing. Looking forward to this weekend

Handheld, procontroller or joy-cons?

Is SSB’s a must buy for new-comers or will we be out classed?

There’s a very low bar of entry in smash and while some people are really good it won’t usually find yourself getting destroyed to the point where it isn’t fun. Also at the moment there will be lots of people figuring which characters they want to use so it’s a bit more of a free for all too.

Handheld, procontroller or joy-cons?

Didn’t try handheld but will this weekend, I used joycons and they were fine but I think I’ll be getting myself a pro controller for this one.

Cheers, good to know it's possible with joy-cons as well.

I completely forgot I preordered this until it arrived this morning

I’m practically a complete beginner to the series. Any particular characters I should focus on gitting gud with first?

Kirby is available from the start and is a really good all rounder, pretty ideal character to use whilst you’re getting used to the mechanics. Very forgiving though with the jump patterns so beware when you move onto other characters!

Just played a couple of online 4 player free for all matches with loads of assist trophies and items. It was completely wild. Not a good rule set for deciding who’s better but great if you just want pure carnage.

I'm loving Smash but I'm so bad at it. I always jump too far off the platforms and I can't tell you how many new challenger fights I've lost

At least now you can go back and rechallenge them, I remember the first ones completing challenges to unlock the fight and having to do the challenge all over again when you lose.

Opened up my switch today. Had Mario Kart as a download with the game so downloaded that fine plus I picked up NBA 2K19. Even with the cartridge NBA requires 23gb to download, is this normal? Are all games the same with this sort of download requirment?

A few require a small download but the 2K games take the piss.

Just a noobie question, I’m currently in Australia I probably will be till January/February if I was to buy the switch here Will everything work back in England ok. Can I play English games on an Australian switch and whatnot. I’m just concerned if it breaks or something too will the warranty still cover even though I bought it in Australia.

Or should I just wait until I’m home

I will be this weekend I reckon

The console is multi region so won’t have an issue with English games, but I don’t know how the warrenty works and honestly if I was back in England so soon I’d just wait I think.

Yeah think I will do actually. They don’t have any game shops similar to ours in England so it’s not as if I can return it if it does break. I’ve just got an urge to play mario and the Pokemon game I’m 27 now but It will take me back to when I was younger. Cheers anyway.

Some of the tunes in Smash are amazing. This is the only tune I will smash to once I unlock it

Alright, kids have had switches for a couple months now and they keep putting the volume on full fecking whack. We don't want them wearing headphones all the time as then they can't hear what's going on around them.

Any way to limit the volume ? Kids are idiots man.

Not to my knowledge, apart from limiting it to 0 by taking out the speaker(s).

can't you just take it away for 24 hours if they don't listen?

that should sort it fairly quickly

Keep taking them off them but they don't learn, idiots man, they're banned for the day. It's not just our kids either, I obviously notice it more in the house but every kid in public has them on full whack and parents seem oblivious.

I'm considering stuffing stuff Infront of the speakers to block most the sound or putting a blank in the headphone jack to turn sound off completely

They'll take the blank out. :p

Any good deals for one of these on the horizon?

If you mean a price drop i doubt it, they’re still selling like mad and im sure i read somewhere nintendo are expecting/hoping they’ll sell somewhere around 14m this year so theres no reason to drop the price until sales start falling off

Dead cells supposed to be good right? Tempted.
Played hollow knight? I'm running through it and loving it. Similar style of game to dead cells. I found dead cells to be a bit boring, but I've only tried for an hour or so. Will resume when I'm done with hollow knight.

A few weeks on and I ended up buying the switch here in australia yesterday.....I regret nothing. I’m having a blast playing it Can see me putting hours and hours into Zelda alone. I also have mario kart 8 and Pokemon pikachu it’ll help the 24 hour flight home when I do leave that’s for sure.

Haven't bought a Nintendo console since the 3DS came out but looking at Smash Ultimate really does tempt me. I used to play Melee and Brawl so much, haven't played it since Brawl though (which I occasionally revisit on the Wii).

Maybe a difficult question to answer but is it worth buying one of these purely for Smash? That and probably whichever Mario Kart is out.

The reviews for Smash look pretty amazing. It really is tempting me. I've pretty much stopped gaming except for the odd game of FIFA/FM but I'm contemplating getting back into it a little.

It has FM 2019 btw, I thibk if you buy it for Smash and Mario Kart you should def try Zelda Breath of the Wild, and imo once you start playing it you'll just automatically find yourself buying it more and more games since its so fun to use and has such a great librarh already.

I bought one just for Smash since Mario Kart is just RNG and nothing else. I played it for one day then havent played it since. Hoping some more interesting stuff comes out

Having said that, this was my first Smash game. But I play street fighter, etc
