Gaming Nintendo Switch

Does anyone know if you can buy a digital download code from Amazon US and the code will work on a UK account?

I know you can set up a US account on your Switch to download US games and they're playable via all accounts on your console, but I don't really want to go through the process of setting up a US account just for one game and having it tied to that account etc.

Started playing Mario Odyssey recently, and for the most part, I think I prefer 3D World on the Wii-U. I'll reserve final judgement until I complete it because I finished my first trip to New Donk City last night and the tribute to Donkey Kong was joyful.

I was pretty underwhelmed by Odyssey. A good platformer and nothing else.

That's what I've felt initially. It seems a bit simple so far and the levels weren't particularly inspiring. Other than New Donk City, the old school 2d segments have been the most enjoyable so far.

Just finished Octopath traveler. Fecking amazing. Great throwback to SNES era RPG's, but with modern quality of life stuff.

Just wish the stories were more interconnected, but the battle system alone is worth playing it.

I’ve struggled to get into it, I need to get my head back in it as I got a JRPG craving at the moment.

Yes, I've only recently got a switch so I'm playing catch up a bit.
Yeah I feel like I'm playing catch up all the time. I haven't got time to get through all the games I want to so even Zelda is still on my list. I only started playing Mario Odyssey in the beginning of this year.
Golf Story was one of the first ones I got due to it being cheap and rated quite highly.

Zelda is great, although similarly to you, I'm behind with all the games I want to play and I'm only halfway through it. That's on the Wii-U too.

Just got Tales of Vesperia for the switch. Hoping it'll be like my experience with Tales of Xillia which I found enjoyable.
On another note, Dead Cells is severely overhyped compared to what it gives you, in my opinion. Hollow Knight is by far the superior of the two.

Let me know how it is I’ve been eyeing it up recently.

How is Bayonetta 2? It gets rave reviews, but I find the entire design of the character to be utterly cringeworthy. I do, however, love DMC type games..

I like the controls and upgrade system and so on but to be honest I'm becoming a bit tired of doing the (almost) exact same bit for the 30th time in a row.

It's a great game. Once you learn some of the move combos it's very good fun. The story is a bit odd, but the gameplay overrides that.

Upgrade and skill system seems interesting, controllers is probably a practice makes perfect thing, but the game itself is stale as feck, and I only played 2-3 rounds.

Mind, I came from Hollow Knight and heard just as great things about Dead Cells so my expectations were very high.

It’s great. I too have trouble with the character design, though for me it’s because I have a serious weakness for witty brunettes in glasses.

In that case, it is basically required playing. Bayonetta 2 would rival DMC4:SE for me as the best game in the character action genre. As for the design, I felt the same at first but honestly it's so ridiculously oversexualised that I see it as something of a parallel to Dante's absurd goofy yet impossibly cool badassery; it's only cringeworthy if you take it dead seriously.

Fair enough then, as you're the 4th one here tell me it's awesome,I'll have to give it a try :)

Haven't checked on the pro controller yet, I expect my problems to be somewhat better on there, but not perfect.

That said, the battle system is absolute horseshit with the joycons. If you use the arrows holding zl to move freely in battle feels uncomfortable. If you use the stick to move you'll accidentally jump way too often. The attack-recovery timer is slightly too high, so you can't actually "get good" at the battle system, which I think is important to any action-based/live battle system. Its fine for me to grind it out so defending becomes unimportant, but I'm sure it will make others lose patience with the game.

Controlling outside of battle is far superior with the normal controls, but in-battle you'll want to use the arrows to avoid jumping into damage by accident.

I have this problem with almost all games with the joy con. Smash is utterly unplayable with it for me. I bought the wired old school N64style controller. Works much better, but you truly dont appreciate wireless until you go back to a wired controller :)

The pro controller is expensive but well worth the investment. Probably the best controller I've ever used and it has crazy battery life. Reckon you get nearly 20 hours off it. A must if you play the switch hooked up to the TV a lot

I'm really liking Pokemon  Can't think of any negatives for me at the moment.
Finished it a couple of days ago and I loved it so much. Wasn't sure about the catching system going in but I got addicted very quickly, only issue is I wound up over-levelled quite often so I had to sometimes switch out my team while catching. Probably going to be sad going back to the old system when the next games come out.

Is the person who shows up as (&)*(&) on my friendlist someone here? They added me a few weeks ago and it feels mysterious when I see them online not knowing who they are

Yeah I'll not be happy going back to the old ways for the next game, especially if wild Pokemon aren't visible, it'll feel like a big step backwards for me. Oh well, this is feeling like a full and "proper" Pokemon game to me anyway, so I'm alright. Hopefully this wont be a one off and they'll do more games in this style :)

I hope so. Wonder if they'll do a remake of Silver/Gold in the same style.

I wouldn't mind the old style of catching again, but would certainly prefer to keep wild pokemon visible. Hunting/chaining etc, on this one is tops, easier to get what you want, very addictive!

Especially with getting the in-built IV checker early on. Now that, I'll be gutted if they revert to post game.

I could live with them going back to the old catching if there was no other choice, but I'm really enjoying how everything is.

Actually I would like them to change the way you battle the random people. It would be nice if instead of them just walking up to you when they see you and battle starting automatically, they asked you whether you wanted to fight instead. When I just want to get somewhere and I have to fight little shits on the way it can get annoying.

I would prefer the current catching mechanic but with the option of fighting wild pokemons as opposed to only catching them. The boost-items desperately needs to go away. A lvl 3 metapod can beat the elite 4 for fecks sake.

Aye, when you just want to get to the next town but it's guarded by three pricks each with two level four Pidgeys.

Cheers, looks like I might hold fire on this one then I reckon. There’s so many jrpg’s on the switch now it’s so hard to know which one to pick
