Gaming Nintendo Switch

Not exactly a remake, but if you have an old 3ds gathering dust somewhere?

Yeah I've seen footage of that. I'm hoping it'll prompt Nintendo to do a SM remake - I'd buy a Switch just for that game. I was never a fan of the Prime series because it simply didn't feel like Metroid but Samus Returns looks lovely... surely the direction Metroid ought to be going in.

is the pro controller really worth forking out £60? Seems absurdly expensive, but I'm not a big fan of the joycon's without the holder (for Mario)

Bought the xenoblade 2 pro controller, really nice and comfortable. I dont know if it is worth it, but if you play a lot on TV or table mode, i would invest it

Went to three different GAME stores and all had sold out of Odyssey and Mario Kart - was hoping to pick one up.

I've not played my switch docked as yet - stupid question but you can't use a wired controller in fable top mode can you.? almost bought a Mario wired controller today but assume that's only for docked mode?

What's the connection, USB? If so there wouldn't be any where to plug it in.

Mario is amazing I don’t wannna play too much because I don’t wanna finish it.

Chilling in bed playing Rocket League is just great, I love this console so much.

I assume so yeah - that was my thinking. tbh I haven't unwrapped the dock itself so wasn' unsure.

what you playing on it mate? Is Pokken tournament worth a punt?
Keep going back to Zelda  I'm putting off Mario to make it last a bit longer. I'm thinking of getting Rayman Legends next as I never got round to the Wii U version.

Dunno about Pokken, sorry!

cheers lads. don' have anyone locally to play with other than my missus but she' not into gaming really.

I'll probably go for Odyssey to go with Zelda and Mario Rabbits that I have already.

Game are seriously shit. Everything that isn't PS4 latest releases or second hand games, and they are just available to order because they don't stock physical copies of anything anymore.

Plus they are now the worst for jacking prices up when things are in short supply, their prices for PS4 cameras and move controllers went up by silly amounts when the PSVR was released, whereas everywhere else (apart from the also dodgy CEX) had them at normal prices. They also continue to advertise things in store to order that they can't actually get, it's company policy.

I hate that we have very few actual game stores any more, but they do deserve the shit state they are in.

It's a difficult one to answer.

The feel of it is definitely very premium. You can tell it's built well, it's extremely comfortable, and the battery life is excellent. Nintendo's last two Pro Controllers (this one, and the Wii U one) have probably been my favourite controllers since the GameCube pad and current Xbox models in terms of comfort and quality. If you feel that the Joy-Cons on the grip aren't quite good enough for your docked experience, then I'd probably just fork it out. I have nothing but good things to say about the Pro Pad, but the price is still too high no matter how good it is, I think it should be £49.99, but this HD Rumble stuff must be very expensive to produce at the moment.

Really want one but want the price to fall :(

Very unlikely mate Nintendo don’t like dropping the prices of consoles. Even the Wii U kept a steady price right up until the end, your best bet is trying to get a game bundled in.

So has anyone got any interesting predictions for 2018 that aren't Pokemon, Smash/Mario Maker Remaster etc.

What 3rd party games do we expect to see?

Will we get a 2d Mario that isn't Mario Maker? Id love them to do a new SMB but with the worlds from Mario Odyssey (the last few have been really generic style and all the same). Or perhaps they do another 3D Land/World as the linear platfomer?

Any other IPs you'd expect to see not already announced?

I actually think Wii U had a pretty good first year or 2, including lots of good 3rd party games (Batman, Assassins Creed x2, Mass Effect, Sonic Racing, Splinter Cell etc.). Switch has a good userbase already and had Nintendos full focus now 3DS is fading out so I'm expecting a big year. Just wondering what...

:(

I will probably wait until I finish up with uni and then buy one in the summer. Controller is expensive as well.

Following the success of the Switch I’d be amazed if some of the yearly AAA titles aren’t released next Christmas (probably in a reduced state but still).

I think we’re getting a new Yoshi, Kirby, Fire Emblem, and Bayonetta 3 with Pokemon and Metroid announced but unsure of release.

There’s also some excellent indie games coming out notably Owlboy and Hollow Knight, two brilliant games. Apparently there’s a new direct coming in January so we will probably see a full line up of games.

If Skyrim sold well then I expect Fallout 4.

Something like RDR 2 ain’t gonna happen though.

Switch has a good user base, but I would love to know the attach rate. How many games on average does every buyer own.

I bought Zelda, Splatoon 2, MK8, Mario and Rabbids, Xenoblades 2 and Odyssey. I ain’t bothered with third party games.

I’m guessing third parties are still cautious as most the people who buy it are going to play just Nintendo games on it and probably own a Xbox/PS4.

I would love to see more third party games like Mario and rabbids. Games that are strictly made for the switch. I don’t wanna see what happened with the Wii where any shite was released.

I'm only really interested in the exclusives. I don't game on the go so I'm not going to buy a lesser version of a game that I can play on PS4.

I'm in the same boat in that i'm only really gong to play Nintendo exclusives on the Switch, and some indie games. I just think indie games play better on the Switch and that's the console i will probably prefer to play them on.

When a big 3rd party game is related that's going to be played on my PS4. That's really not what i bought the Switch for.

Saying that, i really hope they do get a lot of these 3rd party games as that's obviously good for business and as a result is good for us consumers. The Switch is very healthy at the moment, and i think it needs 3rd party support to remain in that state.

I'm kinda with you guys for the most part. But there are definitely 3rd party games that would work well on Switch and I'd like to have on a handheld.. Crash Remaster, Fifa (a proper version), all Telltale games, Trials, Life is Strange etc. Rocket League was a perfect example.

I have no real interest in Kirby, Yoshi or Fire Emblem. Do many of you guys? Pokemon of course makes sense though I'd love to see them shake up what Pokemon is with a new side edition to the series. Metroid I loved but I don't expect that in 2018 and also we need to know what that game is.

Kirby and Yoshi games are usually great. If you want cod and the rest of that shite, stick to your xbox. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see stuff like that coming to switch anyway, there's not a lot it can't do.

What I looking forward to next is actually Terraria. My boys have got me into it, I can't wait to get 1.3 on handheld and hopefully touch screen.

How far? I'm closing in on 150 hours.

About 80 on episode 4 or 5. Just got so immersed unlike any game recently.

I think I'm going to get back into that next, any advice you guys?

Mostly learn the battle system properly, the whole game changed for me. Also flick the stick forward after the first auto attack to cancel it. You do a string of auto attack’s then which fill your arts quicker.

I was lucky enough to pull a rare healer blade on Nia which has made my life so much better.

How tough is it to find rare blades btw? I found a few common and then 2-3 rares but when I used the rare ones they turned out normal.

Well yeah! Other than you haha.

Cod wasnt mentioned, or even that ilk of games. The ones I mentioned are those in genres or with styles that would work well on the Switch and would benefit from on the go play.

Yoshi and Kirby are well received enough but not sure on the sales front. I guess Mario and Donkey Kong are the only Nintendo platformers I buy. I'd rather buy the indie platformers for much cheaper than Yoshi and Kirby is all else I feel like Im spending my money away on one genre (I have no nostalgia for those 2 characters).

What's nostalgia or sales figures got to do with it? They are usually decent games and you'll miss out thanks to your insistence on overlooking them because of the characters.

I swear some people limit themselves because of one thing or another rather then just, you know, enjoying games.

How can anyone ever overlook Yoshi? :(

Had all of them at around 90 hours played. Although some are story-progress locked. Honestly though, it's all luck.

Yeah I’ve got pretty lucky so far. Also I wouldn’t put many on Rex as he tends to pick up decent blades anyway.

Rex can equip all blades on all the other drivers

Also, I made a thread about Xenoblade 2 earlier. Put in quite a bit of information that can be needed.
Not story spoilers per say, so usable for research but put it in spoiler for those who don't want to know party-members or blades you can get.

Will add a fair bit as I go as well, have a folder of documents and pages from the web that have been usable as research for quests, unique-farming and stuff like that.

Nothing like some Mario Maker videos to make me feel like a complete amateur! That one didn't look too hard though tbf.
I'm still amazed at those bastards for being able to do P-break and U-break.
I hope it comes to the switch so i can enjoy killing myself.
