Gaming Nintendo Switch

I've got Rabbids coming tomorrow. My Switch collection is slowly building. Sometimes I just like to look and admire the pile of games - such a great bundle of games in such a small space of time.

Count me in the club as well :D. Got it over Christmas along with odyssey, Zelda, rabbids, and Mario Kart. Just started Odyssey and Nintendo sure do know how to make an enjoyable console. Very unique gaming experience compared to the ps4.

Quick question, does anyone else’s left joycon battery seem to drain faster than the right (I suppose which side doesn’t really matter, just that one drains considerably faster than the other)? I was playing Odyssey for a couple of hours and while the right joycon was at nearly 100%, the left was at around 60-70%.

I understand they run on separate batteries with your inputs affecting the rate of use for either joycon, but wondering if this discrepancy should be of concern or if it’s par for the course. (Additional misc info: When I first started up the Switch, the left joycon was dead, whereas the right joycon and console were at about 50%. I charged all to 100% before playing.)

What are the odds that mario maker will make it to switch?
I'm thinking very high, though we are getting on a bit now with no new rumours.

Mario Maker and Super Smash Bros. are ones I'm thinking will make it out next year, that might be more like enhanced Wii U games.

I havn't noticed if mine does or not, will keep an eye on it now though, will let you know

Wonder if it just because the left gets more use while playing odyssey, id imagine my left joy con is used maybe 95% of the time moving mario and the right is only maybe 70% of the time jumping, throwing cappy and moving the camera

Probably put two hours into Rabbids and love it - much better than I'd expect it. Very addictive.

loaded Zelda and spent 10 mins on it. Think I'll love that. Did wonder what I'd think of the graphics/art style but it's beautiful.

Think I'll get another few games with some cash I got - skyrim, mario odyssey or Pokemon tournament? Tough call.

I have all three - I'd say go with Mario for now. Skyrim is a really good port but it is ultimately the same Skyrim of 2011 plus the DLC so it's not as unique as SMO. Pokken is a solid fighter but if you don't have people to regularly play multiplayer with then it comes up a bit short on the single player side of things.

So i finally had mine Christmas Day. Didn't manage to play much then as i was busy will family and all that lot, but put in a few hours yesterday and today.

Been mostly playing Zelda. Obviously only scratched the surface of that game, but the little bit i have played has been amazing.

Played about 45 minutes of Odyssey today and thought i would give the detached joy cons a go. Feels really good playing the game like this i have to say. So comfortable and fun to use.

The game is a joy, too.

Hopefully going to buy mario kart 8 deluxe this week.

I bought my son the Mario Odyssey a few days ago and he liked it a lot. he already had Mario Kart, who bored us a little after a few races.
Now I have to buy him another one(he is 9 years old), what game would you recommend? not counting Zelda

Yea, that’s what I’m hoping, but not sure if the difference should be to that extent (~60-70% vs ~100% charge) after just several hours of play. Looking on the internet, it seems others voiced similar concerns as well, but whether it’s due to a defective joycon, or normal wear seems unclear. Obviously, I’d rather not go through the hassle of returning and exchanging. Thanks for the response, I’ll look out for your update.

I could get a switch or a ps4. I want to play Mario and Zelda but, is there anything good coming out next year on switch?

There's a lot of games confirmed to be coming but without solid release dates as yet; Bayonetta 3 (though first two will be re-released in February I think), Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Metroid Prime 4, Project Octopath Traveller, SMT5, and of course Pokemon.

My guess would be based on the momentum that Nintendo have successfully kept up this year that there will be a consistent stream of good to great first or second party titles coming out every month with one or two big hitters to come in midsummer/next Christmas.

Further to that theres already Kirby and Yoshi confirmed, with Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Party, a port of Super Mario Maker and id imagine some type of Paper Mario and a Luigi game all in the works too

Thanks. I'm kinda of torn on what to get. I'll probably end up a getting a switch though. I really want to play Zelda.

You wont regret it, i wanted one just for Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 and ive played pretty much nothing but Odyssey since i got it for christmas, its a fantastic game and up there with the best platformers ever for me, i picked up snipperclips too and played it for about 20 minutes last night with the other half and really liked that too

Zelda is good, but it isn't worth 300 quid, in my opinion. If you're going to be playing a lot then it has to be a PS4. Considerably cheaper and way, way more games.

That said, if you're going to be playing a lot I imagine you'd already have a PS4 / Xbone.

Yeah, I have an xbox one currently. I suppose if i get bored of the switch I could always sell it. The PS4 is pretty cheap now.

If you already have an Xbox then you need to decide which exclusives interest you more. And if gaming on the go is something you're in anyway interested in then it's a no brainer. Switch is a great second console.

My copy of Rabbids from Amazon was supposed to be brand new but certainly doesn't look it. No official Nintendo cellophane and once unwrapped the cover looks in poor condition. How do I approach this, especially since the game has been opened?

Contact Amazon and send it back? If it's a third party seller then you might have a problem.

I've arranged a return with them. It was direct through Amazon and I can see in the reviews that others have had the same issue. I don't know what they are playing at trying to get away with it.

I've arranged a replacement, but I'm going to play the game until I return it either way.

If Amazon is the seller then you won't have a problem. They're great that way. Weird that it's happened multiple times, though.

My concern is that I'll just get another used one. Never had this happen before through Amazon.

There should be a comment box when you return something. Tell them why you're returning it in great detail and you should be fine.

Splatoon 2, Mario Rabbids, Sonic Forces, Dragonball Z, Rayman, Lego city or marvel if he isnt too old for it. There is also Pokemon Tournament or Arms.

I have Splatoon, Sonic, Dragonball and can recommend them all. Played Lego and Rayman with my nephew on the PS4, also fun games for children, maybe he is too old for them by now.

Just went in the store today, wanted to buy a grey left joy con. Ended with buying the Xenoblade pro controller alongside the yellow pair of joy cons. Couldnt leave without getting a new game, so bought LA Noire alongside NBA 2k18 and Xenoblade 2. Not a big fan of role games, but since i got the controller, i wanted the game too.

Now that I'm on board the Switch train, i really hope they make a Donkey Kong game.

I love those games so much.

Im sure my copy from tesco direct was the same, the three nintendo published games all had strips but rabbids didnt, it just had a normal cheap celophane wrap on it with no strip, i just presumed it was because it was published by ubisoft

A third Country Returns game including the Wii an Wii U ones would be amazing.

I would absolutely love that. I've been playing Donkey Kong Country on the SNES mini and i love that game so much it's making me pine for a new one.

Donkey Kong Country 2 is still my favourite. Ive actually just hacked my SNES and put that on there :D

They might remaster Tropical Freeze instead as so few played it on WiiU and it was fantastic.

I thought Donkey Kong Returns was decent but also kinda bland and forgettable, never played it again after clearing it and can’t remember much about it. What was the sequel like?

Thank you! I think I will go for Dragonball.

Buzzing off Mario Odyssey. Best Mario since the N64. Currently Moon collecting.

is the pro controller really worth forking out £60? Seems absurdly expensive, but I'm not a big fan of the joycon's without the holder (for Mario)

Other than Zelda, both Mario games, Mario Kart, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, there will be a few exciting releases for 2018 among those:Project Octopath Traveler by Square Enix, Lost Sphear, Shin Megami Tensei V (very excited for this one after playing Persona, hoping it will be as good), Metroid Prime 4, Yoshi, Kirby, Pokemon(hopefully in 2018), Bayonetta 3, also Seasons of Heaven looks quite good, a few great indie games, although the ones I know of are all on pc already I think they are still better played on the go, a lot more info should be available in January hopefully.

Edit:Also No More Heroes will be on the switch, not sure if it's new or a remake but should be good.

If you don't like the joy cons you should. I got one for Xmas and I really like it. It's very comfortable to hold and is infinitely better for doing the motion control puzzles in Zelda.
