Gaming Nintendo Switch

You've made an enemy for life.

You gonna feck him up, when you get out of the burn unit?

No no no. It's easy to create Zelda in that! I swear! It's easy to make a game! This is going to still be the most awesome thing ever and it's all freeeeeee!

If only there were some sane voices around when Spark and that bullshit (that was already pretty much canned before actually released) Kinect 2.0 shit. Oh how some would have listened to reason if they could.

Witcher 3 is the most overrated game ever and in the future will go down as such. Just so much in that game is boring and simply doesn't even work properly.

But you see boobs and get to pick who to feck, so it's a great story apparently...

...I forget my point. Wait, what was it? Oh yeah, booooobs! Best game ever!

Spark had nothing to do with Kinect, but I think you are misremembering on the Kinect front.

Spark had huge potential. I never claimed it was likely to have any commercial success which was unfortunately the issue. Dreams on PS4 looks a different take but with a lot of the same ideas. Hopefully something cool comes from that.

Surely you cannot be serious?
Think my radars are off a lot here.
TW3 is a absolutely fantastic game.

I never said it did. I think you read my post wrong.

No it didn't, that's the bloody point. You and (I forget, was it King eric?) had high hopes and banged on about what could be done, but it was never going to end that way. It was always going down like it did.

Stop denying your past man, you were very pro Kinect and Spark despite the overwhelming evidence both were pure bullshit. Own the mistake in buying it and move on :)

I didnt buy it, it was free to play (or perhaps it was in beta - I can't remember). By potential I mean feature wise there were lots of interesting things it could do - no denial from me. Januzaj was always going to go one way according to many, but those of us who weren't cynical old men got excited by him too :smirk:. Potential often gets wasted, doesnt mean it wasn't there.

If it wasn't for all the prostitutes, it would basically be an easy kids game. You are just chasing down a pretty blonde (a bit like Mario), you dodge about a lot (a bit like Sonic), then you end up bored because it's all gone on so long, it got so repetitive and you forgot what the point was in the first place (a bit like Crash). So yeah, it's just an easy kids game where most of the 'features' don't work and it ends up being loved by men because of the incredibly ropey women accents and the boobs.

At least I now know I shouldn't take you as seriously as before when it came to video-gaming.

Why would you buy your own game anyway? Of course it was free to you.

I clearly meant buying into the hype. Which you did.

That's not cynicism, if you go back and read those exchanges, you'll see I often spoke about the short comings. I even offered to help with creating stuff for those of you willing to put in the effort. Sadly, the biggest downfall was predictably just that.

Anyone serious about making games were already exploring much better avenues at doing so. Making games on a slightly more detailed version of Disney Infinity was never going to take off.

What would you know about games anyway, you basically cheat your way through them and have the cheek to say "oh Ornstein and Smough, they aren't hard!" Yeah, when you are at level 300 because you were just too pussy to deal with them properly.

Child.

Hehehe!

That new Sonic game is probably full of prostitutes, to be fair.

I guess Spark didn't even hot that brace against Sunderland level. Tbf, I thought it was going to be something interesting, like a more versatile RPG Maker.

Haha, nice last line. It was more about having something accessible and then collaboration avenues which could create something big. The issue was getting people using it, but the potential if lots worked together could have been really cool. There were loads of great concept games.

Anyway, do people have thoughts on the non third party questions I had?

2d Mario that isnt Mario Maker remaster - if so, anything interesting here? New style, maybe use the worlds from Odyssey? Or perhaps another 3d Land/World to scratch that linear platforming itch?

Is Switch the system we see a new Pokemon? Theres always rumours of the big open world third-person real time action Pokemon games but not sure I see it.

What does Metroid look like?

Any other IPs we think they will bring back or shake up?

They'll just move the standard main series to the switch, eventually, maybe make the world more 3rd person-ish, but other than that, business as usual.

What does Metroid look like?
A wee floaty brain alien with pincers?

Apologies if this has been mentioned, but I saw a Reddit post about a job advertisement looking for coders familiar with the Unreal engine for what sounds like a Pokemon game. At least I think that was what it meant. If true, this could be a big step towards a truly open world Pokémon game.

;)

But yeah I was sad to see it end up like I thought. Anything that gets people creating and making stuff is great and fair fecks to the guys for trying it, it really was a sterling effort. But, and I say this sadly, it was never going to work in that form. It was too late for something like that, things like Infinity and Minecraft already had the attention, and as much as people still don't get it, modding and indie games are just so easy these days to make that Spark was just too little too late.

It's a big shame and people put a lot of effort into creating it, but it really never stood a chance. Again though, fair fecks for trying.

I'm not convinced there'll be any kind of odyssey style 3D creator, the memory alone would be insane. I honestly think the best we can hope for are 2D interpretations and a much larger version of the Wii U release for now.

I never got why we didn't get an expansion on the games from the Gamecube. It seems like they are adverse to making a full on 3D world of pokemon that literally would suck money from all our pockets.

What does Metroid look like?

What do you mean here? As in terms of if it's a prime or more traditional or maybe mixed? Personally, I love the Prime games so I'd like a continuation of that, but a full on side scrolling game with Switch power gfx would be awesome too. In fact, I think I'm just going to be happy.

Wish list would be a sunshine HD remake so people could see the game is actually amazing, and a continuation of Eternal Darkness and the Rogue Squadron games. What I think will happen is a lot more plunges from developers like with the Doom/Skyrim stuff and maybe some Yakuza from Sega? From Software are still yet to make an appearance too...

Probably intimidated by the amount of HD 3D Pokemon models they'd have to make

Just remake Yellow in first person.

Biggest selling game of all time.
Aye, would go like the proverbial...
You don't need all 800. Start again from Yellow, first gen. Instant huge seller and we'd all lap it up

Besides, it's really not that difficult in this day and age to do all of them, not with the ridiculous sized teams they have.
Just like that ad, they could easily just hire a handful of temps to do nothing but render 3d models. Current games are all 3d models anyway(but I doubt they're doing them super high res and downscaling), so they have examples of how they should look, move and act to work with.

Yeah, I suppose!

For me the more 3D they go, I seem to become less interested  I'd love an HD 2D Pearl/Diamond style game

So a week in.. and I love my switch. I've played it a silly amount considering the spare time I've had (including far too many day in 4 hours sleep).

I've taught my 3 year old to play Mario kart - he even won a race (on 50cc, all assists on etc.. but still.. not bad for a kid I can't teach that bogeys aren't a food group.

Odyssey is fantastic too, and the rabbids game isn't my normal type of game at all, but I'm enjoying at one when playing undocked. That and rocket league!

I've not even looked at Zelda yet..

Well done Nintendo.
