Gaming Nintendo Switch

Doubt we'll see these, those games are just far too big and graphically intense to fit on something like the switch; GTA IV on the other hand would probably run quite smoothly on the switch after some tweaks.

GTA 5 would easily run on the Switch.

GTA 5 run on both the xbox 360 and ps3 so Switch could handle that no problem.

As already mentioned there should be zero issues running GTA on Switch. I think it is bound to happen, the customer base is too big.

Probably right on Witcher.

Really? Would be impressive if they can pull that off.

Yeah, if they wanted to port this over i'm sure they could get it done. Like i said, it ran on Xbox 360 and PS3 and those were last gen consoles so the Switch should handle it.

It manages to run Doom (albeit downscaled) and Skyrim so i see no reason why they couldn't get it to work. If they wanted to, anyway.

My wife just got me the Switch yesterday for my birthday with Mario Kart and a friend got me Skyrim for it as well, and I saw that Rocket League was on sale so I got that for myself. I’ve only played Mario Kart so far but it’s been great. I’m very interested to get in to Skyrim as well, I absolutely loved it and played for well over 100 hours on the ps3 so the option to have it on a mobile device could get me in trouble.

I really want to get Mario Odyssey but I’ll probably hold out for a while to enjoy the games I already have first. That said, are any of the other cheaper games like Rocket League any good?

Golf Story and Stardew Valley are some of the more popular indie games on the switch.

Was thinking of buying this. Apart from Zelda, can someone recommend some games?

Anyone have a good recommendation for a carry case? Something that will hold the necessaries but also provide a modicum of protection? I have yet to undock my Switch (other than to apply a screen protector) but work has been slow as f*ck recently. Reckon I could slip in a few games of Mario on the sly if this trend continues into the new year.

Xenoblade 2 for a adventure jrpg.
Fire Emblem Warriors for mindless hack and kill like dynasty warriors.
Super Mario Odyssey... For Mario? :P

I’ll look in to xenoblade too, seems to be one of the names that keeps coming up.

Also I got a slightly noobish question. Assuming I want to play split screen on the TV with a friend should I buy another joy-pad? Also been reading about people buying some kind of pro controller? Would you guys recommend it?

The last thing I bought made by nintendo was a gameboy so I’m kinda lost :D.

Pro Controller is expensive but it's easily the best controller available for docked mode.

Silly question but I gotta ask do have to the first Xenoblade to play the second? Got a Switch on a good Friday deal and looking for new games.

Depends on the game. A lot of split screen games use a joycon each, so you need nothing extra for 2 player. Other than that, for the price of a controller, I bought a second pair of joycons giving me the option of 2-player in games that need a full controller, or 3/4 player splitscreen in stuff like Mario Kart.

So assuming I want to play Mario Kart with my girlfriend can I just use one joycon for the both of us?

I just bought the switch and got Zelda as my first game and will buy Mario Kart in the next week or so but I'm kinda limited on cash atm to buy another joycon too :(.

I’ve played 2 player Mario kart with a stick each loads of times and it’s no drama, you get used to it very quickly.

Snipperclippers on the store is a great 2-player game to play with the missus too. If you guys are anything like us, it descends into chaos pretty quickly

The more chaos the better honestly . I’ll ask her which one she prefers out of mario kart and snipperclippers and get it.

Thanks guys!

Any thoughts on Xenoblade Chronicles 2? Girlfriend's got it me for Christmas.
I'm 75 hours in now.
Almost got all blades (think I'm lacking 6-8 or so), half-way (act wise) through the story and slightly above half-way to maxed level.

Think it's very enjoyable. Had one system-shutdown where I lost an hour of gametime.
In general most exp/leveling is done through quests and
Mercenary quests, but remember to sleep at the inn to actually apply that experience.
While it's a bit of a grind for money and blades, it's the kind of grind that jrpg-fans are used to.
What i like the most is that i can grind/do random quests while watching something on netflix.

There is one semi-big issue I have with the performance of the game however: Sometimes it takes time to load in a place after a fast-travel, where you can end up seeing the world be built around you.
Supposedly that issues isn't as big if you play docked. I so far haven't tried that.

I find the feeling of getting a new rare blade to be great and the story while more simplistic than the original Xenoblade is enjoyable enough. The english voices are borderline horrible though, so if you can't stand them then you should download the japanese pack for free.
On top of that, do yourself a favor and turn off in-battle speeches as you'll get freaking annoyed by enemies and friends saying the same things over and over again. You'll notice it very clearly during a mission in the second town.

I bought this wired controller the other day: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-S...=1513962729&sr=8-1&keywords=powera+controller

Just a heads-up though - i haven't used it as i can't get my hands on my Switch 'till Christmas day. But it seems to be a decent, cheap alternative to the (absurdly) expensive pro controller. No motion controls or rumble on this one though.

Gonna research this since the pro controller is pretty expensive atm. Thanks for the heads up!

I got the switch today and bought zelda as my first game. Funny thing is I barely touched it yet since my girlfriend played zelda for like 4 hours straight . She usually never plays consoles and hates anything ps or xbox related so I was pleasantly surprised.

The other half has got my switch wrapped up for christmas, i cant wait! :)

Does anyone know how big the downloads are for each game? I got mario+rabbids with it, and have bought mario kart 8 and odyssey so far, im also looking to maybe pick up snipperclips plus today, anyone know if these will all fit on the internal storage or will i need a memory card for it?

Cant say exactly how big, but it didn't take me longer than a few minutes to download for odyssey and kart 8 deluxe on 60/60 network.

From what friends have told me it's a bit like Final Fantasy in that there may be creatures/concepts etc. that carry across but the plots are wholly independent of one another. 50 hours in having never played the first and loving it so far.

No.
Xenoblade and Xenoblade 2 (havne't played Xenoblade X) are different stories with different characters. There are world-similarities in monsters and that sort, but it is inherently different games.

I'm not sure how others feel but I've always been a little apathetic towards the idea of games that were considered 'must have' a few ago years on the 360 and PS3 now being re-released on the Switch. It's just always seemed somewhat 'after-the-fact' to me and to me seeing fresh and original titles would make it a significantly more attractive purchase. That being said I'm likely still to buy one just to play Zelda, Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart.

The original nintendo games are pretty much the only reason im getting one, i have an xbox one for everything else, ive got the 3 mario games plus snipperclips so far

Will probably pick up zelda once im done with odyssey, the only games i know coming out in 2018 for it that im interested in so far are yoshi, possibly kirby and once they announce animal crossing and pikmin too

I have no doubt i'll buy super mario bros 3 and super mario world for the 6th time or something once the virtual console starts too
