Gaming Nintendo Switch

Man, i've been looking at some of these on ebay. Seemed like most were going for basically retail price and then all of a sudden all the bids on one i was watching got removed and it's at like 10 quid with a day left

I absolutely love my Switch. Gaming PC and PS4 pro yet its this little thing that garners most my attention.

Looking forward to the BOTW DLC too

Gonna buy Xenoblade today. It’s taking every ounce of willpower not to buy Skyrim too.
Is this any good? I was tempted to buy the Wii one for several years but never went through with it.

I'll be getting a Switch for christmas, I only wanted it in order to finally play Zelda so I haven't really got a clue what other games are available. Skyrim is tempting since I haven't got a computer suited for it anymore but I will miss some of the mods.

I heard XB2 was a bit meh, I haven't played it though, just going by the reviews so take that with a pinch of salt.

In additon to Zelda, theres also Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart, Golf Story, Shovel Knight, Mario Rabids and a bunch of other indie gems.

8.5 user score on metacritic...

Oh really? Didn't realise it was that high. I checked GameSpot (who I've considered very trustworthy lately) and a local newspaper reviewer who tend to be spot on too, neither of them seem to rate it that highly.

Fair enough, might be worth a try then.

Anyone got Rayman Legends? I never got round to getting it on Wii U, so will get the Switch version sometime unless there are any big problems with it.

Anybody played Fifa on this? What's it like?

@Olly i also want to know how Rayman is. Looking at a deal for the console, Mario Odyssey and Rayman for like £310

It is, a bit complicated though, good story and graphics imo although anime style characters which doesn't sit well with some.

Rayman is awesome. One of the best platformers around

I might give the Mario game a shot. I thought Mario Galaxy was pretty meh but this one looks more interesting.

Hard to trust users on metacritic, either fanboys giving 10's or haters giving 3's.

On the tv with a controller, it's well, Fifa.
On handheld mode with the joy-cons it's just awkward.
83 critics review is also good I think only 1 point below Mario+Rabbids.

I’ve put about 35 hours into Xenoblade so far and not even scratched the surface, but being a JRPG it’s not going to be for everyone. By nature it can be a bit of a grind fest, although not as bad as others. There’s lots of long cutscenes too, especially at the start, but then again if you’re into it like I am it’s great, as they need to tell the story and I’m really into it.

Also lots of people moaning about performance issues in handheld, it’s typical people blowing the issue one way or another. There are definite framerate drops in certain areas, but honestly nothing so far that’s ruined the experience for me or made me think that sucks.

I remember the same thing about BOTW, didn't even realise there was a "problem" until I read about it online...

Tried all the games I've had arrived a bit now.
Still early in all of course.

Zelda: looks stunning, feels relatively good despite obviously needing to find upgrades to my stamina that's currently annoyingly low.
Unused to not have a map to go after, but it's better in the long run as a standard map these days is just a bloated check-list.
Weapon degradation wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be.

Fire emblem: standard "slash-em-up". Relatively fun.

Mario odyssey: so far feels amazing. Sadly Its best played with joycons on the free. Means I need to get one of those portable stands due to the need to charge while playing.

Mario kart: decent enough, got it so me and my girl could play together.

Guessing xenoblade will be the first I'll properly hug my teeth into once I get it. Just got shipped from Oslo, so expect a few days.

I think I will be selling my PS3 (Just not using anymore) and consider Nintendo which is more up my alley and for the kids

Just started Xenoblade, just an hour in, but the game feels awesome.

15 hours in and only just getting to Chapter 3. It's great. Dub is hilariously bad in spots but it reminds me a bit of FFX in that regard so I actually find it endearing. At this rate will be well into new year before I get back to finishing Mario

Finally got one, even sweeter as i used up some profits from investing in Nintendo, so was free :)

I have not played a console for months but spend hours last night just playing Mario in the handheld mode

I downloaded the Japanese language pack and it’s way better I reckon.

Crazy that it only has to sell another 3 million or so to equal the lifetime sales figures of the wii u.

The console really has took off.

Hopefully be ordering mine this week, the other half is buying me it for christmas

I had to hide mine from my other half as she wants to curb my spending. Great gift though I love mine and I already have ps4, Xbox one s, vita, 3ds, Nintendo mini, snes mini....yeah I think she is right I need to stop spending and more importantly get a life!

Anyone played the Mario + Rabbids game? Seen a bundle with that and Odyssey in it so was wondering what people's thoughts were.

Couple of guys in the 'Game of the Year' thread nominated it. I don't know if you've played X Com but it's that kind of thing.

It's a strategy game dressed up in a cute aesthetic.

Ah that's cool, i've played both of the newer X-com games and did quite enjoy them. Sounds like i'd probably like it then!

I couldn't resist any longer, went full berserk and ordered a Switch/Breath of the Wild bundle. Added Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a Pro controller for good measure. Had to keep myself from throwing Xenoblade into the mix as well. I've got issues. :nervous: I'm sure I won't regret it though.

I have a big ass 4k HDR TV with a great sound system but it's in the living room and, realistically, when i get home i just have dinner and go to bed so a PS4 pro, despite the beautiful graphics, would end up like my ps3, getting dust. I had plenty of fun with my DS until i gave it to my friend that was in hospital for some time, didn't ask it back ever since but it was getting a bit too old. Now the switch looks great, especially for Zelda and some party games to play with family/friends but I'm afraid of a couple things that has been holding me back from buying one.

Does it get too hot while playing in handheld mode? does the battery lasts at least 3 hours like the DS did? Are graphics too underwhelming on a big 4K tv? Will i really need to pay a monthly fee to play online stuff? Will it be easy to get Japan only games? Well, i just realised i can google all these questions but since i wrote till here i'll post anyway. Cheers

I'm going to end up buying one of these aren't I?
Probably, you won't regret it.

I'm yet to know of any single person who has got one of these and regretted it.

No. Depends, like the DS, on the game but generally I've had no issues. No. Yes, but apparantly not as much as the others. Yes, it's not region locked.
