Gaming Nintendo Switch

I'm surprised you don't know that. My entire posting history on here and other places, I mention it a few times a year

I have stories about them and their ways. But that goes for gaming journalism in general too tbf.
It sounds a bit familiar now I think about it

Still, if nothing else hopefully it means more reviews will be out soon

Gaming journalism lost it's soul a long time ago, we all know that. Edge were the forerunners of all that though, pretended to be for the developers but lead the way in whoring themselves out. My grudge isn't about that as much as the aggressive tactics that forced much more balanced publications out of business.

It's sad that one of my highlights in the industry is telling a couple of them of them to feck off at the bar at Ects in '03. It's no surprise that the event ended shortly after, those wankers among all the others always preferred the jolly ups at E3. Sell out cnuts.

Which games would people recommend on the switch ?

I'm considering getting one but other than Zelda I'm not really sure which games are worth getting

BoTW are MK8 Deluxe are must haves, and Mario Odyssey is going to be in that category as well. Beyond that is based on your tastes; I have Pokken Tournament DX, Mario and Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, FIFA 18, Golf Story and Sonic Mania and have enjoyed all of them immensely. Wanted to get ARMS and Splatoon2 but my unreliable Wifi connection is making online multiplayer shite for me personally, but by all accounts both are excellent. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 looks like it will be fantastic, and as a huge fan of old JRPGs the demo of Project Octopath Traveller has me very excited as well.

Just read on Reddit that Famitsū have given Mario 39/40. Not being able to read Japanese I don’t know if that’s right though

How do you even spoil Mario? Peach was in another castle all along?

Just things like videos of the ending and bosses and all that, kinda shit if you want to play the game without knowing.

So anyone playing Fire Emblem Warriors? I’m finding it the perfect hack and slash to fill the time before getting stuck into Mario.

I will get it, but it just reminded me to go back to Hyrule Warriors and finally finish that this week before Mario :)

I never played Hyrule Warriors and I wish I had now! But I’m gonna have way too many games to play soon to think about going backwards for a while!

They need to start flipping the script.

Instead of Dynasty Warrior'ing every game, start taking DW heros and making Mario style platformers about them. Old Chinese generals and emperors running around the Mushroom Kingdom, Hyrule, and bopping slimes in whatever the name of the world from Dragon Quest is.

Oh ok, i've not seen any of this Switch one; thought it would be like the others.

Was gonna say it'll take your soul!

Ha yeah I last played on the 3ds and it took my life for a while. Nothing compared to home much of my life will be lost if we get an Animal Crossing on switch.

I’d love it if the rules were reversed and they created a Dynasty Warriors game using the Fire Emblem engine on the NDS (never played the 3DS one but I would assume it would be similar)

That moment where you mess up, turn off the machine, think about your life and then come back to the stage that has haunted your life for x amount of days... in an almost infinite loop.

Or that bit where you turn off the game, but it doesn't leave your mind, so you have to go back for more pain.

I don't think I've played a more haunting (but brilliant) series than F.E. Wouldn't even want to calculate the chunks of my life it's claimed.

Anyone still playing Mario + Rabbids? Damn world 3 is tough - big difficulty spike from the last 2. I've just beaten the mid boss.

Feckers :(

Mines been despatched, so at least it's on the way

Nice! I never play preorder post roulette anymore to be honest, just go to the shop and buy it on the day, I’m always worried it’ll end up coming late in the post.

Last time I preordered anything was Mario Marker from Amazon, which came a couple of days late  Hopefully they redeem themselves this time.

The embargo on Mario Odyssey is pretty tough here so I won't get the chance to play before Friday. Weekend is going to be great though, should be the best Switch game so far alongside Zelda.

It's apparently best played with two joy cons separately in hands. I will try it every way but apparently this way suits best because of hat throwing.

I'm used to it as that's the best way to play zelda too :)

I haven't tried that. Speaking of Zelda, I have barely played that for the last three months, will coming back be smooth? Considering plot is irrelevant and the game offers you full freedom in how you tackle it, I think it should be fine?

I want to finish it at some point but I inevitably keep getting distracted by all the additional activities in the game. I got it the final fight against first boss (the water one, Ruta?) but am still way too underpowered to even stand a chance. All I do 90% of time is explore and look to improve my character.

I came back when 1st DLC came out after not playing for a few months and it was easy enough

Ended up finishing every side quest and shrine

Yeah it's easy to do, I took a break mid-way through to prolong the experience. Definitely beat Ruta and progress though, the weapons and powers you start getting really push the game on and it's true that you keep learning cool new stuff right up until the end. Especially getting all the extra clothing sets too, they really make moving through the world much easier and even more fun (the full climbing gear and swimming gear upgraded to level 2 each are simply outstanding). BTW for Ruta, I beat that dungeon with 4 hearts and attack potions my first time through, so don't fear it. Worst case, make some food that gives you bonus hearts, but the boss really isn't much trouble once you learn his predictable patterns.

And yeah, dual controls is so easily the way forward in that game for me. It makes aiming bows/powers just so much easier and more fun :)
