Gaming Nintendo Switch

I reckon when the hype dies down those perfect scores might be reconsidered. The reviews I have watched / read all reference it being very easy.

Only played it for an hour or so but it’s been with a permanent grin on my face. To think some kids will get a Switch with Odyssey, Kart and Zelda for Christmas...people that say it’s better to have earned it are talking out there arses.

You'd be wrong. Neither of the Galaxy games or Mario 3D World are considered less good, and all three were just as easy or easier so far.

What reviews are these and what were the scores out of interest? Because it seems an odd thing to pick on a Mario game for. Don't get me wrong, I'm not far enough into it to see if it's easy enough to actually bother me like Mario 3D world did, nor do I know what exactly they are calling easy (is it the combat, the earning moons, finding the collectables or all of that?).

For me, I'm really enjoying it, it's a supremely made game and like BotW just has so much attention to detail it's crazy. However if I did have to question something about it, it would indeed be if finding the extra moons is going to be difficult enough to keep me interested to 100% it. The reason Mario64 is king up until this point was finding everything was challenging enough to be fun all the way though, Sunshine was the same in that way. Galaxy/2 barely were, but 3D world I never bothered to.

Just have a perusal of Metacritic / youtube reviews. To be fair, having thought about it, you're right, the difficulty level isn't indicative of the quality of the game.

And I haven't played it, so there's that.

I guess it depends on the type of game and what the type of difficulty is.

For example I've already died loads on this doing stupid jumps and exploring, plus some of the mini levels are quite tricky to get right. But so far I wouldn't clasify it as a difficult game by any stretch. I'm also a sucker for a challenge, so it's more about holding my interest for me.

Then again even in something like the Witcher 3, the fact it's ridiculously easy didn't really hurt any lasting opinions on it. Having said that, if Dark Souls 4 (and here's hoping we get one!) comes out easy, then there'd be riots ;)

Played the forest level

I know I’m in the minority here. But there just doesn’t seem to much to it all

I played over half the Wii U Mario and although I didn’t love it, it still seemed to have more going on than this

What am I missing here? I’m usually very easy to please in video games

What do you mean much to it? Not much to do?

Maybe it just isn't for you. Did you like Mario 64?

I was thinking it was great, especially Wooded and Lake Kingdom's

I'm so happy - I can actually read the Japanese under the English there! feels like such an achievement.

I only came in the thread to read about this game and then listen to the tracks you put up, but then I got distracted looking at the katakana and my shock at actually being able to read it.

I know, my post is completely random, and you're probably wondering why I'm quoting you to say it

Proper pleased here!

It appears you are missing loads! Are you just going on the main quests or something?

How about the sand level, right at the start, did you play through all 3 versions of that? I thought I was smashing it and it seemed a bit easy to find things at first when I racked up 25 moons, then found the list thing and saw there are 69 to find!

But maybe you are just Mario'd out or something. I think for me personally, it's going to be like Zelda in that it'll take me a long time to decide where on the list this one will sit in the series. I do think I'll 100% this one, so that's a start.

Brb going to Mario land forever.

 Congratulations!

About a year ago I was watching a video/vlog of some bloke driving in Japan and he drove past a shop and I managed to read that the sign said Suzuki, so I know the feeling :D

Nice :D

I'm tempted to buy one this week. Other than Mario, Mario Kart and Zelda is it worth it?

I need someone to talk me out of it

Sorry to tell you but it is totally worth it. Mario vs Rabbids is also a fantastic game IMO

Splatoon....

Sorry..Err...no, it's a shit console. It doesn't have shiney enough graphics and Mario and Zelda aren't easily the best games released in ages. Plus who cares about stuff like xenoblade and pokemon? Kids games.

Don't listen to this tool, Mario vs Rabbids has colours and as such is for children.

Oh good I definitely won't buy it then. I mean...where is the ultra realism etc?

If only Weaste was still here to convince me Sony is better....

I'm on that bit now, how the feck did you get stuck???

On the other hand, I've been dying loads trying stupid jumps where there's always an easier way. I love the cap jump mechanic, it's a genuine addition to Mario's fluidity :)
 I dunno, somehow took me ages to find the tunnel entrance.

Yeah the cap jump is good, I'm having trouble doing multiple ones though. It's Super Metroid's wall jump all over again!

I think this is what some people who say it's easy are missing....doing it normally is ok, but styling out those jumps is another thing ;)

We don't have a Weaste. But @Alock1 can tell you why Xbox is better.

Oi, you leave locky alone! Being a fanboy is hard work, at least he always could stand his ground. Apart from Kinect and Spark of course, but those were ciderman and that king eric nutter's doing more ;)

But seriously, nothing is better than the switch right now. It's all I'm playing, my PC monitor is what I using all the time with it whilst the mrs plays the PS4 :)

Mario, Zelda, Splatoon and Mario Kart are all right up there as the best games released this year, possibly of all time, and there's stuff like Arms and Mario & Rabbids which are great games in their own right. You simply can't go wrong this time, it's like what the Wii U was supposed to be, only done properly.

 in my sheer glee, I felt compelled to tell you of my achievement.

My final aim will be to play an RPG in Japanese, which will surely mean I've made it to the promised land.

I might randomly PM you when I manage to do that, as well.

Mario is incredible quality. I am dosing it slowly so it lasts a while because second playthrough will not have the same novelty. You keep discovering new amazing stuff every 5 minutes.

What a console. One thing I don't get though why 30FPS in 2K is so noticeable in docked mode and not that much in handheld, it should be the same. Not that I am going to be playing docked when I have PS4 but still.

I'm not sure of the question here. Handheld mode may be more fluid because it runs at 720p rather than 1080p and in some games that haven't been optimised that would be a difference, so maybe that's what you are seeing?

When games aim for 60/30fps that doesn't mean they always hit them, even the new Xbox will struggle with that under certain conditions but they don't have to take into account both modes.
