Gaming Nintendo Switch

There must be a Doomguy Amiibo. There must be.

Also, cut through one of the stories in the Octopath Traveller demo, absolutely love it, though the battles are very slow when you have a single character. Hopefully they'll pick up pace when you have a team.
That Amiibo would be so cool.

I'll have to give the Octopath demo a go, the art style looks amazing.

Nintendo would have a real hit on their hands if they ever put out a proper online multiplayer Mario Party.

It'd be incredible. Surely with the switch the time is now, it'd be just about the most fun ever.

As much as I love my Switch, eShop has been a mess. NBA 2K18 is supposed to release tomorrow digitally with physical copies to come in mid-October and it will be 25GB so there should be at least pre-load available but instead they do not even have it on the upcoming games list in the eShop so I am not even sure it will be there tomorrow at all. My weekend largely depends on it!!!

I'm surprised, got the demo for Pokken this morning and didn't think much of it besides the animations making me imagine a proper Pokemon game with those graphics and animations.

Never played Skyrim though, so may get that.

I enjoyed the demo but had the same thoughts about the sprites in a real Pokemon game. Give me a Pokemon game with that and every region and Pokemon and I'm becoming a hermit.

I've played Skyrim a million times and I'm still gonna buy it. Have you played any of the other Elder Scrolls games?

I've played Oblivion, and I didn't get on with it, but back then I didn't enjoy many ARPG's. Also a small bit of Redguard.

As far as I can see, they've never done pre-installs. Games just appear on the days they are released.

It's not a mess as such, it's merely functional. It does need to get a lot better though, it's about time we had a proper shop now.

Yeah but even without preload it would be nice to know if it's going to be there tomorrow or not. It's not listed on the eShop still, but they have 15th as the release date on their site. Global launch is on 19th officially, it's only on 15th if you preorder which you can't on Switch.

Ahh, I get what you mean. Yeah, the eShop is bare minimal at best. I mean you can't even look at all games easily on it!

Regarding NBA 2K18, do you think it'd be hard to pickup as a newbie to the game and the sport really?

There are several different levels so you will grasp it. I started my romance with basketball exactly by buying 2K14. It's an incredible game.

I watch 100 or so games of basketball per season now.

Dont understand why the non download version NBA 2k18 will be out on October 17th, pisses me off a bit. I prefer bigger games as a card.

Yeah it's annoying. I'm for sure waiting though so I can fill up the system memory with heaps of shit VC games

Thanks! I would not be surprised if that happens to me too. I’ll try and buy it tomorrow, hopefully it’s out..

It's already in Australian and Japanese eShops so it was a midnight release for them. I have been looking for eShop cards for their shops for the last couple of hours but they are silly prices.

Hope it will be there at midnight in the European store.

2k18 is up right at midnight but feck me, I just paid 309 PLN for the fecker. The most expensive game I ever bought. It says it's gonna be downloading for 5 hours.

2k18 takes a while to get used to as it's 30fps and gameplay is different than 2k17 even on PS4 (it's not FIFA where its the same every year) so it feels clumsy at the beginning but after 3-4 games it's absolutely excellent. Animations are the same as big console versions, graphics are very good for a handheld and it is very smooth despite lower frame rate. I will sink hundreds of hours into this.

Took me a moment but I got used to it now, it's a full console experience. Graphics are between PS3 and PS4, it doesn't have cloth physics and fans look worse but otherwise presentation is very clean and it's definitely a good looking game. 30 FPS is noticeable but it doesn't spoil the game that much to be honest. It has FULL content of the PS4/XBO versions, without any compromises at all. It's the same engine, same physics, same game modes, same everything. I am still getting PS4 one today after work because of its glorious graphics but I would say that if someone is not completely obssessed with this game like me, getting Swtich version is actually enough as it's basically the same game.

It was damn expensive and I had to buy an SD card, so in total it cost me over 100 euros to get it but that's probably going to be about 25 cents per each hour I spend with this beauty

Have you played it handheld?
Only handheld mode so far. I will dock it when I'm home but I don't really play Switch much docked aside from multiplayer.

I've been playing this at work.

Just seen the Legend Edition Gold is costing 149,99 Euros in the store :nervous: Not that i would buy it, but not bad

Well I traded in Splatoon because as much as I enjoyed it I just wasn't playing it enough. Traded in against Rabbids and it's such good fun, absolutely love it.

Is this thing going to allow us to play our Wii U games?
It isn't backwards compatible (one of the few times Nintendo has done this). I'm sure they'll eventually add more games (possibly including some Wii U ones) to the digital store, but unfortunately you'd have to buy them again. It has no disc drive or 3DS cartridge slot, but with a lot of these games needing two screens there would be no way for it work. Once you remove the console from the dock, there's no way to display anything on the TV. It's a one or the other kind of deal.

Some games where the Wii U GamePad screen was just a luxury are / will get ported to Switch with additional features. This has already happened with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokkén Tournament DX releasing this Friday. They've done more than just straight port them thankfully, with things like additional characters, a newly designed battle mode, better resolution etc.

I feel like this is Nintendo's last big 'reset' in the console market. Any game, past, present, or future that they can get to work on this kind of system, they will. Everything playable in one place, including on the go.
