Need 1 for Manchester based Splatoon team...!

PS. I love my Switch, second best gadget I bought this decade. (Kindle is king.)

Do you mean you play locally in Manchester or you play online and just happen to be in Manchester? If it's online I'm buying it tonight so could be keen.

Play online, happen to be in Manchester!

If I get time tonight I'll put my buddy code in here - we're trying to get one of our mates to buy a Switch but if he doesn't cave we want a 4th to make a team!

Cool cool let me know, probably gonna pick it up this afternoon.

He definitely should cave, I'm so optimistic for this console, it's just great.

Well I ended up picking up Splatoon. Played a couple of online games and it's super fun, didn't even win a game and still had a blast. I can imagine in a team where you have a plan to carry out it works even better.

Shovel Knight or Sonic Mania?

I need a 2D game for my Switch in handheld mode as I don't really think games like BotW are suited for that. Shovel Knight looks very interesting, but so does Sonic Mania which comes out next month. Should I wait for Sonic, or is Shovel Knight so good that it can't be ignored?
Looking at gameplay, I would pick Sonic, but I biased due to my master system days

I'm also a Master System kid, but choosing anything other than Shovel Knight for gameplay is craaaaaaazy. That game is ludicrously good & packed with more than enough content to justify the price tag several times over.

Brilliant, brilliant game.

This.

No contest. Although I'm also wondering how exactly Zelda isn't suited to handheld mode? That's such an odd opinion.

Yeah I pretty much play everything in handheld mode! I actually prefer it. Although my favourite is in bed tabletop mode propped up with your hands lazily anywhere you want.

Right I've figured out if you hold your controllers parallel to the floor rather than upright it's way easier to aim on the right one. I'm actually killing people and winning now, what joy.

I turned that motion control shit off straight away, motion controls for aiming are the worst :D

Absolutely loving the game though. It's fun even if you lose.

Apparently it's the way to go! The Reddit nerds told me so. I must say I'm quite used to it now.

I wish the standard games were longer than 3 minutes I have to say.

I can see how it can be accurate once you're used to it but I'm probably too set in my ways!

Yeah it'd be nice to have a longer option I guess, although the 3 minute time seems enough to cover your initial ground then try and make some headway. I love the last 10 seconds when everyone goes loopy trying to get any last bit they can. It's such a welcome change from shooters like CoD.

Did you play the first one? This is definitely more of an upgrade rather than a direct sequel, but like MK8 at least allows far more players to experience it's brilliance.

And yeah, I'd be up for some caf battles :)

Nah didn't play the new one so it's all new to me but I'm loving it. It's ridiculously addictive.

They are very useful a bit later in the game. Sell a few if you desperately need money, but it's easy enough to get decent amounts of rupees anyway.

Yeah I sold loads early on to buy all my armour sets. Now when I need them I go speak to that Zora bloke where you can trade Luminous Rocks for Diamonds as they're everywhere!

I've clocked the game, I don't recall using them for much apart from repairing the special weapons, which aren't worth the investment anyway, and the odd side quest?

I got one recently. Now have Zleda, Shovel Knight and Minecraft.

Honestly only bought the last two for the sake of having something to play on the thing. Zelda was fantastic.

I do worry about what I am going to play on Switch if 3rd party support remains weak; the likes of arms and splatoon dont look like my kind of thing. Also think that games are badly priced, some Switch games cost a hell of a lot less on other systems. I love the console though, great piece of tech. I find myself using it as a handheld most of the time.

The mario X-Com ripoff looks good, watched an hour of gameplay last night.

I think games are starting to get a little bit cheaper now - it's always the same when a console first hits the market. Companies charge £60 a game because they know people will want to pick up a few games with the console on release. I've already seen that most games (and good ones at that) are now RRP £50 instead and some will be more around the £40 mark which is fine IMO.

Third Party looks decent to me this year, with the likes of FIFA 18, WWE 2K18, NBA 2K18, Dragonball Xenoverse 2, Skyrim, Binding of Isaac, Lego Worlds, Sonic Mania, Lost Sphear, Rocket League... We'll just have to hope they can keep getting more. If you like RPG's, I Am Setsuna is supposed to be really good.

I'm not really a fan of shooters, but I've been playing Splatoon 2 a lot and really enjoying it. It's really good and can probably be found for close to £40.

Done 91 shrines so far. These last 29 are gonna start to get really hard to find.

Would this thing be cheaper in the States? And would there be any sort of region lock on games like there used to be on Playstation etc. (or am I making that up?). I'm going there tomorrow so might have a look.

There's not much in it between US and U.K. prices once you've added the sales tax on, but it is region free.

Alright. I probably won't bother then. Although it would be neat having it for the flight back home.

Worth a look, I'm not sure how sales tax works either whether you can claim it back as a tourist? You're not in the UK either are you? So might work out cheaper I dunno.

Nope I'm in Denmark. The cheapest price here seems to be ~£297. But I have no idea about the tax either. Maybe I can just sneak it in, who knows.

EDIT: And no pedophile or rape jokes etc.

EDIT2: Seems like I can bring in goods of up to ~£394 before it becomes an issue.

Also was the last one I did. Was a pain in the hole waiting for it

Eventide island was easier than I was expecting

Yeah eventide was sound apart from when that big fecker on that plateau threw the magic ball off the mountain.
