Gaming Nintendo Switch

It's still a fair bit more expensive, I ended up going with a PS4 after looking at how much it would cost to upgrade the older components in my machine. Can get games pretty cheap though, particularly if you starve yourself until the Steam sales.

How old was your machine???

Add something like an R7 to any machine from 2006 onwards and you'd at least be playing this gen games. Hell, get an i3 with 4gb of ram and an R7, and you'll be competing at least and having modded games to boot. People always get confused about what they need, and that's understandable considering how much is out there, but PC gaming is definitely cheaper overall. It's a complete myth that you need to spend thousands to out perform, but that's a completely new debate we've had in other threads over the years. We are going off topic

It is a piss take. But common knowledge.

It's like they have a huge fanbase ready to spend lots of money, but are intent on seeing how far they can piss us off before we give up.

I don't know why I'm shocked by it too be honest, my 3dsXL didn't come packaged with a charger.

I will get a Switch, but a day one purchase has now become a wait and see what bundles there are in the summer situation. It does look great though.

Is it true that they are going to charge $40 for the Street Fighter 2 game ? It's was on the Xbox 360.

Needed to change the CPU, which straight away meant I also needed to change the MoBo and the RAM, GFX is a minor cost compared to the rest of it. I agree you don't need to spend thousands. But yeah, fairly off topic!

Wasn't every (new) game on PS4/Xbox One about £50 at the start? A couple of years later, and there are great games second hand for less than £10.

I think PS4 games are cheaper at this point in time than PS3 games were.

It's even worse for us! £40 ffs
Jesus, that's really awful, I thought it might to be a bit cheaper here - £30.

Yep some of the games are dirt cheap although Nintendo are a really odd company, most of their stuff(Unless you buy it second hand)rarely drops price.

It's all RRP at the moment. Hopefully we'll see a bit of a drop before launch.

Nintendo have always had these added hidden costs.

I mean you need to fecking buy a power adapter for the NES Mini.

PS4/Xbox one games were £35-45 to launch. But there were a ton of good bundle deals and some were giving free games.

The problem for me is the lack of games at launch. I know Zelda is there, but you can get that on the Wii U. They clearly didn't learn their lesson from Wii U. Oh and they really need to clear up this stupid free game confusion.

You need a power adapter if you don't have a USB port on your TV. I know nintendo can be a bit shite in terms of peripheral costs etc, but there's no need for an adapter for the nes mini unless you have an old TV. Makes more sense to let those that need one shell out, rather than package one with the console and bump the price up slightly for everyone.

I think it got cleared up at the New York event the day after.

If super Mario brothers is that months free game then you get to play it as much as you like. But once the month is up you have to buy it to continue playing it. It's a cheek to call it a free game.

Still probably getting it as I have it pre ordered

But I really wish they would announce at least a handful of VC games

A free rental, maybe.

Which is kinda what we get with PS+ any way. If you let the subscription slide then access to all of the downloaded "free" games disappears.

It doesn't really bother me, as like Randall, I'm eager to see what the Switch VC is going to offer. I'll purchase all of the classics whether I get to rent them for a month or not.

One of the developers said it's like PS plus.

So that is adding to the confusion.

True enough, I guess, but I'll take PS+ over this idea any time. That said, like yourself, if they have games on the VC I want, I'll get them, same as PSN, the "freeh" plus games are mostly stuff I wouldn't have bought anyway so I guess it makes no real difference in the end.

Interesting thread over on Neogaf relating to the Foxxconn leaks from a few months back. The leaker managed to get very specific details correct (buttons, weight of joycons, battery and a few more).

He also leaked details regarding a second Devkit - it's being speculated that this will be Nintendo's SCD. Effectively an external GPU which may brink the Switch up to 4k levels of power when docked.

The console isn't even out and there's so called leaks of a Switch pro.

By that logic, I get hundred of free games each month. My PS plus is basically a Netflix library a this point

Sounds interesting. The general consensus seems to be that it would come in the form of a new dock to add more processing power etc.

A lot of people are speculating (from the filed patent) that this SCD would make the switch as powerful as the PS4 Pro.

Can you post a link to the thread?

Gamestop say they have already sold out of their 1.2m allocation. If that is correct, and presumed Amazon has equal or more, who have also sold out, among others, its going to be completing as the fastest selling launch console

People are advertising on ebay for £500...

That means nothing.

Wii u was sold out at launch.

I highly doubt this will match the Xbox one launch numbers let alone PS4.

1 game at launch I want to play still has me torn.

Plus, the Zelda special edition seems expensive for basically a figurine. feck sake Nintendo.
There really is nothing else

Even for the 1st few months for me apart from Zelda

I've not liked Mario kart since n64 and I don't think I'd like splatoon

But I'm getting it anyway. It will almost definitely end up being my kids console. I still haven't played the wiiU even though we have owned it for about 3 years

 Allocation numbers are different. If the numbers are correct, the switch has already doubled the Wii U sales

Believe me mate, you should love MK8 and Splatoon! Especially Splatoon, it's one of those games that you kind of think you won't be bothered by but just get sucked into after a quick go. It's wonderfully balanced too, even for a man of you *cough*dubious*cough* gaming skills ;)

Is it worth getting Splatoon if you aren't going to play online?

If you can get it cheap mate.

Why wouldn't you play it online though? It's a game you can just jump in at any point and compete. That's the beauty in it for me.
Because whenever I've tried an online game everyone is amazing and I'm shit  Plus, I wont pay for online, so when the Switch online is all there is in a couple of years, it'd be shame to have a game that I wont play.

Still, if I get it when the Wii U service is still up, I'll give it a go!

Was that just before they started hitting you with a blue turtle shell bomb just as you were nearing the finish line while in first place every single race, by any chance?

Also, you're wasting that Wii U. Grab a copy of Lego City Undercover and book a week off on the sofa.

Well the numbers aren't correct because GameStop haven't released allocation numbers. All they said is that it is sold out and allocation numbers are low currently.

This won't even beat the Xbox one like I said let alone be the fastest selling console at launch.

There's no killer exclusive title that showcases why you must spent £280 plus. Zelda isn't it because that was made for the Wii U. They really needed to release something that was made for the Switch. It's not going to be Splatoon or MK8.

And what was the killer launch game did the PS4 or Xbox one have, that you couldn't get on the ps3 or 360?

Those had a ton of multi format games, which the Switch doesn't have. And a lot of those multi format games were improved from the previous gen versions. FIFA with a new engine. BF with 64 players online etc.

Those companies also don't rely on exclusives as much as Nintendo do. Their exclusive output isn't as good or consistent like Nintendo.
