Gaming Nintendo 3DS vs PS Vita thread.

A few I enjoy

Super Mario 3D Land
Luigi's Mansion 2
Kid Icarus Uprising
NSMB2
Professor Layton

I can't be too much help since I haven't bought games for current systems for ages. There's the other big games though, like Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Mario Kart, Zelda, Monster Hunter etc.

Thanks, I guess it's a given that I should be trying a couple of Mario games. Having just bought it for Pokemon, I was very surprised with the quality of the screen. In some ways though I feel like it's too good, as it might not get away with the simple looking fun games of the gameboy era and the games will look too fancy and not be as fun.

Some new 3DS-es were announced earlier in the Direct;

What's the price? I'm meant to be buying my brother in laws 2DS in a few weeks.

Well they're fecking idiots then. What console manufacturer apart from Nintendo has ever changed the hardware spec of the machine? It's money grabbing bullshit.

Microsoft February 2015.

The 2DS is excellent. I haven't looked into what hardware the 2DS actually uses, but if it's the same as the original 3DS I think it shouldn't have problems playing games with this new 'cpu' as it's already saving power through not rendering 3D.

However I'm a fan of the 3D on the 3DS, so I'd say it's worth thinking about. I mean look at the colours!

They already did it with both the Snes and N64.

And so what, it's a new form of the system! Sony do that all the time, granted not more powerful, but we shall see how this one works out.

Dunno, they've only said the Japanese price so far, which is 16,000 Yen for the new LL (XL) and 18,800 Yen for the regular. That's about £90 and £110. Obviously the prices wont be an exact conversion though so they'll probably be a bit more over here.

Yeah I've used his 2DS a few times lately and really like it. It's really comfortable.

Yeah there's no chance those will be the price, even 2DS is more than that RRP.

The backlash over this is strong....

Would people complain less if Nintendo had given this a different name like Nintendo 3DS 2 or something similar and announced it as a next gen console?

I own numerous japanese consoles. Imagine how hard it was clicking on all the options until I found start game without internet to help!

I've got a few Super Famicom games and I can play those no problem because they're all platformers, but even then there's a few tricky bits in the menus, I can't imagine using a whole system that I don't understand without getting really pissed off

I said 2015. ITK.

Something about 3 titans or sumet.

I'll end up buying one, but the only reason I'd get one right away is if there is a Monster Hunter 4 Bundle.

I obviously like what they've done, but this really should have been the upgrade from 3DS to 3DS XL with all of this better tech thrown in. They'll have to think carefully about which games they release to require the better CPU, as games like a future Pokémon title would cause an uproar with parents and a lot of refunds... Xenoblade is obviously very niche and may not even see release in the rest of the world.

Read my whole reply?

That's exactly what I said - should have been this in the first place, but I still like the product. What is wrong about that?

The new ones will be able to use the Amiibos too for things like SSB. A bit annoying but I'll probably get one. Just sucks that they won't be doing that SNES colour way in the larger models.

Yeah, they should have given the new 3DS a different name as well as it's just going to be the Xbox One thing all over again, but worse.

Slightly better would have been to call it, say, the "Super 3DS". And have the following as the default for both the 3DS and 3DSXL versions:
