Gaming Nintendo 3DS vs PS Vita thread.

That's exactly my plan, I still have all these Vita games, Fire Emblem to finish, plus upcoming titles that I won't need a PS4 for months. The handhelds are killing it.

So true, i might start thinking about PS4 in the summer but i can see myself being plenty busy with things then too so i might well be leaving it a year before i get one!

I'm downloading all the crests, facepacks, correct competition names and junk at the moment.

I don't bother with facepacks but i have a crest pack i've been using since 2011. I also got the correct competition names one this year because it had the German national team fix in with i too and i wanted to manage in Germany. I think that save lasted like 10 mins until i realized in the lowest playable league you have to use a certain amount of u21s in your matchday squad and i didn't have enough!

It didn't bug me until I got a player of two with a pic in, and all the regens, the blank ones are starting to grate me.

That's a pretty weird rule in the German league, but I suppose it's part of why in real life, they have such a strong youth setup.

I love making stickers with photos on Little Big Planet. My favourite one yet....

The Sonic racing game is pretty good, I love kart games though, I just went from 8th to 2nd within sight of the finish line

Just finished Tearaway, cool little game. The parts where you have to use the rear touchpad are predictably cumbersome but all in all enjoyed it.

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus rated for Vita by PEGI.

Any guesses on a release date based on that?

Awesome news anyway!

It's my daughter's birthday on the 21st and I was thinking of getting her one of the Pokemons. What is the difference between X and Y? Additionally, any game recommendations other than Pokemon will be happily accepted. She'll be 6.

I'm pretty sure they're exactly the same except a few of the Pokemon you get? And even then, I believe it's just the end-game legendary Pokemons (the ones on the box art).

Mario Kart, Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing, Sonic Racing: Transformed - my younger sisters loved all 3 of these, but you only need one. Transformed is the latest and also the best.

Animal Crossing is supposedly cool, but I haven't played it myself. Mario 3D Land perhaps?

The only difference is what you can get in this version - here's a list of differences: http://www.serebii.net/xy/exclusives.shtml

Is this a way to make you buy both? Why not simply have a single game with all of them in it?

To encourage trading.

Maybe Super Mario 3D Land and Animal Crossing like Alock said. I'd suggest Professor Layton but it can be a bit hard, depends on the child I guess.

Randall has a/some kid(s) and a 3DS. I don't know if they play it but he might have a better idea of what they like. Oi @Randall Flagg, come here.

Yes I am here. 6 year old probably won't know what's going on in Pokemon, animal crossing or leyton,

Does she have all 3 Mario games. As in 3d land, kart and new super Mario bros?

Your money to Nintendo.

:D

I got a long weekend, want to buy a game but I'm too worried if I do it'll go on for free download next month

Did anyone get Bravely Default? It did come out didn't it?

I put it on my xmas list so hopefully i've got it waiting for me

Yeah I saw it in GAME. Tempted to pick it up but I still have so many games left to complete.

I got Bravely Default. It's really, really good, but there are so many options you can customise its going to be weeks before I have a real idea of what I'm doing. The battle system is rather technical and the learning curve is steep (though I went for Normal Mode over Easy). One cool feature is that you can edit the encounter rate to suit your needs whenever you like :)

Its a stunning game, very well presented. Definitely a must for RPG fans.

I put Ocarina of Time 3D on my xmas list. My Grandad says to me today 'one of them Nintendo games on your list has got some rave reviews' i said 'which one's that?' he says 'um, that Zelda one i think' i say 'yeah, they're all supposed to be really good but i've never played one so thought that might be a good place to start'

Just made me laugh hearing a 76 year old man saying 'Nintendo' and 'Zelda'

Yep, she should do. Tearaway is enjoyable and simple enough to get to grips with - just like Snowjoe said, the bits where you use the rear touchpad can get a bit cumbersome but it isn't an issue.

I took mine all round the UK over the summer and got less than 5. It's quite annoying.

However, I have two neighbours somewhere who have 3DSes so I get lots of StreetPass hits from them. I have no idea who they are, though.
I got mine in an hour at a Haskins garden centre and a B&Q. Wasn't expecting to get any but ended up getting 9. Reckon I'll end up taking it with me wherever I go now.

I make use of the StreetPass all the time, take my 3DS pretty much everywhere and go to lots of events. Only really been doing this for about a year and racked up over 1000 StreetPass Hits now and have every Puzzle Piece :)

What's happening with Football Manager for Vita? It's been a while since they announced it, the year is coming to end and there's no sight of it. I fear that it might not materialise after all.
