Gaming Nintendo 3DS vs PS Vita thread.

I've just realised, the Amazon Boxing day sales (UK), are sponsored by Nintendo 3DS ... so maybe watch them if you're looking for a 3DS or 3DS stuff.

Collected my 3ds xl today, tesco had no chargers or decent games so went into town bought a starter kit for £5 in game down from £20, has a hard case, a few game cases, 2 stylus some screen protectors (which I won't use) car charger and a USB charging cable. Bargain. Couldn't find Zelda or any other decent games anywhere so ended up getting new super mario bros 2 for £38 in hmv and ordered Zelda from shopto

?I can't seem to get wireless working on my 3ds. Never had a problem like this before. Any tips?

In what way isn't it working? Getting an error of some kind?

It simply isn't connecting to my router. I don't get it. My roommate's 3DS and my old one connected fine.

Is your wireless on the console actually turned on? Maybe you knocked the switch without realising?

No it's on. I try to connect to my router (password is correct) and it always fails. I'm perplexed.

Oh that's odd then. I don't know why it wouldn't work if the others connect ok

Exactly. I'm about to lose my free Torchic :(

I was in Japan over the Christmas and had my 3DS with me to see what I could pick up on StreetPass.

Monster Hunter 4 is very, very popular there from what I gathered. :D

Indeed.

It sold over 2million copies the weekend of release and apparently became the most downloaded game on the eShop (worldwide) within that weekend as well. It has sold 3.2million copies to date I believe, as well. Which is more than combined sales of the Wii U and 3DS versions of Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate (2.92million), which is out worldwide too. This may be down to MH3U being a re-release of MH3, but with updated graphics, more weapons, monsters, quests, and a better online system, but it's still impressive and some good news for Capcom at least. All of these 3DS records were inevitably eclipsed by Pokémon of course, although they were released worldwide on the same day.

Hopefully the immense success of MH4 in Japan convinces Capcom to release it in the West, but I hear they're in a fair bit of shit which is a bit surprising and very sad as they've made a lot of brilliant games down the years and Monster Hunter is probably my favourite thing they've done. MH4 would be my most wanted 3DS game for this year if it's announced, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Maybe Nintendo could fund them to make an exclusive or two, like they did with Platinum?

I hope so!

The Monster Hunter communities are really great. I often go to events in Manchester and it's nice to just have a few pints and play Monster Hunter (or any other game for that matter) for the afternoon.

Some 3DS games are on sale on the Nintendo Web Store! Digital download codes which take up to 24 hrs email delivery - lets hope they honour them!

Lego City Undercover 3DS - £6.95
Animal Crossing New Leaf(3DS) - £7.95
M&L Dream Team 3DS - £7.95
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS) - £8.95.

Gutted I missed this, I quite like the look of M&L Dream Team but didn't fancy paying full whack for it.

I managed to get Mario & Luigi Dream Team for the £7.95. Not sure how this mistake was made on the Nintendo store, but I bet someone got fired

Was a game I fancied picking up on release, but it was a time when I had so many games on my to-buy list and plenty I hadn't finished. But now, at that price, I had to go for it.

Nintendo did honour the lower prices if anyone was wondering, downloading my game now.

I want to buy a PS vita so anyone know of good deals?

I note that the basic models don't come with a memory card and so by the time you've bought one you've probably paid about the same as you'd pay for one of the bundle deals.

Best I've seen so far is £159 with tearaway and LBP with 16GB memory card.

Amazon have the bundles with 8 or 10 games with a 16gb mem card for around 150 iirc. GameStop too but currently out of stock

To get the code for the free download of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe all you need to do is create a Nintendo Network ID on the 3DS through the setup in the settings menu, right?

Woo!

Do they even remember they were supposed to release Football Manager for Vita?

I'm constantly checking their forum for news, all it ever says is no update yet, working on it.

Glad I didn't freaking wait for it in the end, thought it'd be somewhat quick with Sony helping them.

It's basically the only system in which I can play FM now aside from iPhone/iPad which although decent doesn't give you the same experience. I was hoping they'd have it released by February but it seems like they are going to take much longer. In fact I doubt it'll come out at all, there's no point releasing it in the Summer because it'll be almost time for 2015 then.

I dunno what's going on, or when it'll be out, but I'm sure they will release it at some point, as Sony seems to really be pushing for it.

2DS is £70 preowned at Grainger Games or 80£ new. So tempted to get it.

Mario Kart 7, Zelda and Pokemon. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Has anybody got one? I know most probably think 3DS is worth the extra, but I can't really afford this!

I'd go for it. Great price, supposedly they're incredibly comfortable despite looking a wee bit silly and tbh, I find the 3D mostly pointless. Makes the odd game a bit pretty, and has a minor use in one of the Mario games.

Tbh, I'd prefer they go back to one screen too, but at least the two screens has proper use.

I've briefly used one and it is actually a good machine. Plenty of the best games on it too.

For me the 3D is a great thing, especially on the likes of the Zelda games, Star Fox, RE and Mario Kart. But no games really need it game play wise.

Started Zelda last night. The map is identical to a Link to the Past and all the music albeit slightly jazzed up is the same too. The Lost Woods music is ace.

RIP OLED VITA <3

You wankers that never bought one!

I did get one, and love it!

But the 2000 has some interesting features from what I hear. The reviews seem to suggest that the Start/Select buttons are easier to find whilst playing, by not being flush as they are with the original. I've also read that the battery life is billed at having an extra hours worth of charge, although a few reviews I've seen say that in reality that figure is selling it short and they have got over 4 hours of extra play out of it! That sounds great, even though I think my battery is pretty robust as it stands. Having the internal 1GB of memory also sounds like it would be sweet. It's kind of annoying when I've swapped between my existing cards, then put a game in, only to realise that my current save is on the other stick and if your not near a wifi spot then your sort of stuck.

The OLED of the original is awesome though, Rainbow Moon is one game I fired up recently that really shows off all the lovely colours
