It's your narrative though isn't it? City are more attractive, will win more, got more money, players don't like LVG etc The inference is that we aren't as powerful as we were and I'd dispute that,

But you said an irrelevance. That is nowhere near what I said.

I find it strange people panic regarding City.

Who the feck would want to play for Pellegrini over LVG?
Over the last 5 years, we have the same number of league titles than City.
They don't actually have more money than us (due to FFP), our wage bill eclipsed theirs last season for instance.

Anyway this is the Ottamendi thread, so I won't derail it. City have an excellent team, however we are building one that will most certainly compete with them. I fully expect us to mount a serious UCL challenge within the next 2/3 seasons. Can't say the same for City yet.

Always thought you were a barca fan due to your username.

Admin - can I have a tagline under my user name explaining what it references by any chance? There's lads in here in short trousers who can't fathom it. Something along the lines of "Not a Barca fan - just old" :)

Thanks in advance

Ah, got it now. Never paid attention to the 84 as I thought it's your YOB as it's for most players who use such numbers :p

Enjoyed slotting your RB slotting it past the keeper last week? Shame it was in the wrong end.
A) it was a joke because his name has fecking Barca in it so of course you'd think he was a Barca fan, and B) I'm a United fan too big fella.

You're having a mare here!

Explains the 84 but why do you have 'Barca' on it?

I got the joke and I know you are a United fan which is why I was messing with you :D

@Cassidy @Sir A1ex When I joined RedCafe, me and my best friend at the time time decided to use the same account. He is a Belgrade fan and obviously im a united fan. Hence the combo name.

They got Delph as well. They'll be fine.
It's difficult to write this but they are probably now a better attraction than us. They're a lot more likely to win trophies at the moment and don't have a manager that splits opinion. Money also seems to be no object.

lol, seriously?

Virtually the same team who looked completely lost for large chunks of last season, and a manager who was on the verge of being sacked umpteen times.

Money is no object for us, but it is for City. Frugal spending last season and forced to overspend on English players this season.

So Sky Sources have said We are NOT interested in signing him. Ah well. Im done on this saga now. Clearly we aint getting him and until an announcement happens either way Im out of this.

Simple answer is, they can't. But as if tabloid journos are capable of applying such basic common sense.

City can't afford to be bringing in more non-homegrowns than they're selling either, the free space in their squad is only available to homegrowns, or u21s like Sterling. And that's after cutting the likes of Negredo, Dzeko and Jovetic.

Well we can, it was estimated at the beginning of the season we had around £150m to spend on transfer fees. As for signing non-HG players, so far this window we haven't signed a single foreign player for our Premier League squad. Yet we've signed three English players in Sterling, Delph and Roberts while selling Dzeko, Jovetic and Nastasic so of course we can sign another non-HG player, hence our pursuit of de Bruyne.

Otamendi is leaving from the looks of it. Question is to where? Godin rejected City last week so I'm thinking they turned their attention to Otamendi. Valencia played a friendly behind closed doors yesterday and Otamendi did not play. This was a preparation for their CL play off against Monaco.

He's on another planet to Stones. Shocked to see so many would stick 30-35m on another young centre back who's no guarantee to make it to the level required. He's overrated in my opinion and would not be what we need. Otamendi might be expensive at that price but I'd much rather spend on him than Stones.

Yeah, one more non-hg. Any more than one will mean someone sitting out of the squad.
