I really don't think we should pay that release clause, I swear these clubs think ManUtd is the US Treasury. We ain't printing money over here:rolleyes:

I think that clause is there because of Madrid, i actually dont blame the smaller Spanish and German clubs tbh.

But, but we are :D

Not to my knowledge. Think he said that they won't sell for under 50m euros, which they won't. They had the same stance with Mathieu and Soldado.

Did they get what they wanted in the end with those two?

Tbf we did the same with Ronaldo. Tried to hold out for as much cash as possible.

Foreign journos have been a much better indicator than the UK press over the last year.

We are...on our brand new Epson printers.

Seriously though whatever the price and if we are indeed interested I really hope this does not play out all summer. We need our transfers done asap - so we can have our players bedded in and ready for our CL playoff.

Either Ogden is way off or Otamendi's agent and Valencia's President are making big statements based of transfer interest Ballague imagined

 Nice one man..

As regards to transfers in; ideally i'd love us to get them all sorted asap; so we dont have all this deadline-day bollox yet again, but i dont really care how long it takes, to get us sorted over the summer - aslong as we get the the necessary defence & center-midfield top-class acquisitions in for us to compete for the title & every comp we'll be involved in. Gotta aim high.

I'm counting 5 players to be brought in for those positions (2 CB's, an RB & 2 CM's) & everything else is a bonus for me tbh. That's been our problem areas for way too long.

Of course i'd love more players in, i.e. 2 RB's instead of 1 & 2 Strikers also, but i just want us to be solid again & those 5 would certainly do that, if they're United standard players.

Think of him as an item on eBay with a buy-now price (of 50m Euros). Are you going to make an offer and sit tight, whilst perusing the rest of the site, or will your clicking finger demand instant gratification?

I think if we offer the 50m he's ours. I don't see them forcing the use of the formal release clause process - too much (potential) hassle for both sides. However, if we do need to use a Liga release clause process this summer, at least we know how to do it, and we know that there has still been no tax office (or other legal challenge) to the Bayern/Martinez (no tax) method.

At this end of the market you pay the buy it now price.
Otherwise you risk City or someone stumbling in from the pub, bidding you up, and putting the decimal point in the wrong place.

If LVG rates him that highly then just pay the damn money.... we should have learned our lesson after Hazard/Lucas etc.

Solid, top tier CB's are as hard to find as top strikers these days.
Having said that I feel the club will get business done early and decisively this summer.

I agree, and hope your right about the last bit.

I feel that I am right, woodie has had a few transfer seasons under his belt now and with LVG to assist him (and With MUFC Being back in the champs league) Enticing top draw players should not be that hard.

Plus clearly with woodie around we are prepared to splash the cash...I wonder who would his marquee signing be this year?

Otamendi and Dante the cheap one.
Wouldn't make sense. Otamendi, Smalling, Jones, Rojo, evans, Dante, and then McNair and Blackett. We will most likely sell Jonny and probably loan one of the two young CB's, but it'd still leave us with 5 senior CBs and a youth CB.

Rojo will play LB sometimes, plus with our injury problems, 5 CBs is not a big deal.

yeah, don't need 2 CBs. not when we need to improve so many other areas across the team.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more rumours of a swap deal with Rojo, who could step into Otamendi's LCB spot at Valencia, speaks Spanish and who will be 4th choice at CB and maybe 3rd at LB if we sign Otamendi and a CM (Blind getting less starts there, and he outplayed Rojo at LB).

Could cut the fee from 50 down to 30ish, and we could find a cheap new 4th CB for the next year or two or persist with Evans or McNair and hopefully one of Tuanzebe or Fosu-Mensah, who are both 17.5, could be our 4th CB by the start of the 2017 season, when they will be close to 20.

I think Otamendi was LVG's second name on the list after Hummels.

More like he was first choice with Hummels as back up hence Hummels recent admission he will be staying at Dortmund after all
