Been watching him since January and he reminds me souch of Vidic.
Why? We need a CB, after Hummels there isnt much left.

He's an excellent defender, good in the air and quick, but pretty limited on the ball. The type of defender I'd imagine Mourinho signing rather than Van Gaal. Still, we could probably do with a no nonsense type of CB to solidify things at the back.
That's a point but after quotes from Woodward about competing on all fronts we may have no choice. We also probably trying to create depth against the injuries which are almost inevitable.
Put it this way the likes of Terry & Ivanovic will be shit scared of him.

Otamendi is a really good defender and he suits our league more than Hummels. If reports are true, Otamendi would be a very big upgrade.

Seems a lot of money to spend on someone who has really only had one good season in Europe, don't see how he can be worth over 20m. I also can't see him being a vidic or terry type defender in the premier league because I think is a bit too small, it doesn't matter in Spain but premier league is very different.

Cheers, hopefully LvG doesn't care about that and puts him next to Smalling. That would be a decent pairing IMO.
He plays on the left side of Valencia's CB pairing (Mustafi on the right), which might convince Van Gaal it's not an issue he needs to be too concerned about (Hummels also plays as a LCB despite being right footed).
He looks a hell of a lot more aggressive than Hummels and for the Premier League I think that's what we should be looking for. Now that Hummels is definitely not coming I think it's possible this guy could be even better for us than Hummels and he could form a great partnership with Rojo

He's not ideal, but he's a hell of a lot more suited to the PL then Hummels will ever be.
