If I m not wrong his user name is wr8_utd.de

This made me laugh.

The specific post in that forum is mentioned in the last page and is only a one line statement saying he is a certainty.

But there were no itk references etc.

Nobody can predict how Hazard or Götze would adapt if we signed one of them. Gaitán has obviously been scouted for some time and if Fergie thinks he is worth the amount of money that is being talked about in the press, then I'd trust him to make the right decision.

He can play on the left, right win and central. Obviously we could have Carrick, Jones /Cleverley as our pairing in the middle of the park with Rooney in front of them and Nani and Gaitàn on the wing with Hernandez or Welbeck up top.

The certain user is a journalist, he said himself and during the summer often broke transfer deals very early. Vidal to Juventus, Silva to City, Sanchez to Barcelona.

Wasn't it this time last year that everyone wanked themselves into a frenzy becasue we were 'about to sign' that lad Costa?

Furthermore I just watched that Rooney - Jones pass again. It was one of the most obvious passes ever due to the space and the run of Jones. Not knocking it, but you can't say it was 'creative'.

Carrick, Anderson, Rooney, Berbatov.....

To be fair I can see Berba having it in him. I wouldn't say the rest are particularly creative though.

They are all capable of unlocking a defence with a forward pass. To state that Giggs is the only player in our team capable of doing so is retarded.

Hardly know anything about him but apparently Fergie's still playing the I'll never buy a central midfielder game.

Very easy to choose one moment in one game and suggest that he does that all the time. Rooney's main talents (disregarding striker traits) lie in his long-range passing and his work-rate. His dribbling is very poor, his first touch can be hefty and it's not often you can see a magical pass from him to unlock a tough defence.

Very often when United have struggled in tough games of late, the ball constantly finds itself into Rooney's feet, and he has nothing, the ball goes wide and the attack comes to nothing. Please don't mistake me for saying Rooney isn't a good player, but a creative attacking play-maker - he is not.

His no Sneijder put it that way. We should just leave Rooney to be a Striker and let him flourish in scoring goals. Just like what RVP is doing now.

I agree with you, I feel like Rooney drops deep to fill a void. I don't think he should be 'Plan A' for being in charge of creating chances. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for him dropping deep when he wants, as said before he can be effective for the team there - just not being burdened with creative responsibility.

Good if this is true, was not discrediting that user's post, just mentioned there were no itk references given with that post, thanks anyway for clarifying.

This is looking like it has a lot of substance to it. I remember thinking the same with the Valencia and Ashley Young rumours in the paper.

I don't see how it is different to many rumours/reports of players we were linked to but didnt sign.

Anyways how good is he actually?

Tbh if he is a pretty good I would be very happy to sign him as I don't see Young and Valencia as good enough to be first team players for years.

A winger more in the mould of Silva, Nasri, Mata apparently? Can play central apparently.

He is. Him and Gary Cahill should be our priorities for next window. We need a winger and a defender.

What precisely would we do with a new defender ? We have loads of capable ones. They just need to get healthy.

Jorge Mendes, our old friend is apparently brokering the deal.

And also from what I've heard he's a Silva/Mata player rather than a proper winger.

If we do sign him, what'll happen to the posters who make value jokes and make retarded predictions over net outlay :(

I guess they'll end up with the 'we don't need to spend money on a midfielder since we've got Pogba' regime.....

I doubt the guy will ask for big salaries which, in my opinion, was always the reason why we're not buying in the first place.

We were more than happy to pay 110-120k to Nasri plus 20M in transfer fees. Sneijder as it has been proved that was simply not worth the large wages he was asking. We are also playing 100k plus to young plus his transfer fees.

I don't know how you've decided that we didn't buy due to salaries.

The bloke's been criticising how United are operating for a decade.

The problem is that 110-120k will rarely get you an estabilished WC midfielder (in today's market). In matter of fact, its rumored that Nasri went for 180k. Its not in my intentions to discuss on whether its correct to give that money to a player or not but only to show you the reason why (in my opinion) we had found it so hard to sort this problem out.

Has he never been pulled up on it before? I'm fairly new here and I find it irritating just how negative he is about the club. I don't mind people having a different opinion, but I find it hard to accept what he is saying bearing in mind he is supposed to support united.

I really would like to be a top red like you but you never allowed me to be part of your elite group. You're such a snob. In matter of fact you hardly reply to my friendly greetings. At least, in a decent way.

Transfer fees have gone through the roof.
Its not that long ago when only the top went for anywhere near 30m.
Now every kid with potential has a 30m price tag :/

How many established WC Midfielders are those which United can sign?

Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Silva, Sneijder?

I think we must accept that United never has and never will sign any established world class players.
