Benfica won't pay him a lot. More likely he's trying to find his client a rich club somewhere else by pretending there's interest from United. Not the first time it happens.

That MUTV denial was hilarious. Almost sounded like we were offended to be linked with him!
I think he'd be a signing along the line of Valencia and Young. Valencia is obviously getting somewhere near world class as a winger now and Young is top class too but when we signed both the majority of our fans were a little underwhelmed.

Signing players of a current ability of 160-170/200 and potential ability of 180/200 for £15m-£20m represents a more stable return on your investment than going for a player of 160-170/200 and a potential ability of 190/200 for £30m+
I think we are fairly confident as a club that we can get the "Value" players up and around the ability we need as a squad player while risking big money on players who potentially have a higher ceiling obviously offers greater risk.
Then every now and again you get a Valencia who manages to go above and beyond expectation and looks like a bargain for £17m and similarly in the higher risk strategy, you get players signed for £30m who never reach their ability and are considered a flop.

Stewart Gardner on MUTV just made it VERY clear on behalf of the club that there's nothing in it on the Paddy Crerand Show:
"United have been strongly linked with Nicolas Gaitan... the club have made it quite clear that they are not going to sign Nicolas Gaitan; they're not interested in Nicolas Gaitan, never have been interested in Nicolas Gaitan and aren't going to sign him next summer, even though the press have reported that... United have made it very clear to the press that it's not on... Gaitan is not coming to Old Trafford".

I know, what a laugh. We've worse players than Gaitan already playing for us. He's obviously not the muppets choice and they're getting a bit giddy about the MUTV denial, despite MUTV generally talking shite. The denial they're talking about was probably the one a few months ago in the papers.

Kagawa may skewer the hopes of Hazard but signing him will at least pout an end to this story.
Gaitan's agent making noises about us being interested points to United not signing the player. United generally ask the players, and their representatives to stay silent on any possible transfers.
Agreed. and it s the same story with hazard - he mentioned us a couple of times. For me it s a clear indication that neither one or the other is coming to OT.

I would be surprised if we signed Kagawa (strong possibility) AND Gaitan (I have doubts that we are actually wanting to sign him).

I think it's over. We're getting Kagawa and Gaitan is heading to Wigan.
Definately over probably wasnt even a runner, chances are we used the supposed interest in him as a nice smokescreen to keeping an eye on kagawa. The hazard interest was always gonne get outta the bag at some stage.
