Nicolas Gaitan

Admittedly ive only seen him a few times. Was impressed against us though, good movement, good touch, intelligent.

Dont think he is what we are crying out for but I wouldnt be against a good player like that joining us.

His natural position is in the middle, behind the striker. He can play on either wing as well, similar to Hazard. It is clear with all the speculation that we are looking to sign an attacking midfielder, and I reckon Fergie has decided to change more for European football.

I read an article which I can find now but that said he'd played either wide right or wide left in a front 3. Played behind the striker while in Argentina with Boca though.

Again, this is the article that I can't find speaking.

How much would Gaitan, Hazard & Martinez all cost. All 3. Realistically?

If we could get 2 out of that 3 to complement Cleverley, Pogba and Anderson, our midfield is set for the next 4-8 years!

We would only require Hazard and Martinez or Gaitan and Martinez. 60m for both would be a rough guess. 50m if we're lucky.

Sounds a lot but it would likely be less than what we dropped on several players in the summer of 07-08.

Yes. For Benfica he plays out wide, with Aimar in the centre behind Cardozo. Originally, he played in the role that Aimar does for Benfica, and if we get him, that's where we would play him, in my opinion.

07/08 per season transfer activity was exactly what I'm envisaging.

Stewart Gardner on MUTV just made it VERY clear on behalf of the club that there's nothing in it on the Paddy Crerand Show:

"United have been strongly linked with Nicolas Gaitan... the club have made it quite clear that they are not going to sign Nicolas Gaitan; they're not interested in Nicolas Gaitan, never have been interested in Nicolas Gaitan and aren't going to sign him next summer, even though the press have reported that... United have made it very clear to the press that it's not on... Gaitan is not coming to Old Trafford".

I wish the club would be clearer on these matters

Great news.

Less than what Liverpool paid for their 5 star English players.

Carroll £35m
Johnson £18m
Henderson £20m
Downing £20m

I don't know who's the fifth but for £93m you could definitely buy all three.

Hazard will end up at City! Cleverley wont be too pleased if we sign someone to come in ahead of him but Id imagine Fergie will sign 1 midfielder anyways to make sure we give Europe a better go next season

If the last 2 seasons are anything to go by Cleverley will be too busy recovering from his latest injury to worry about who's in the team

Signing another midfielder will have nothing to do with Cleverley. He has proven himself this season and everyone has positive reviews for him even though he has only played a handful of games. His position is safe. We need another player to cover for Scholes next season and to give us a better chance in Europe.

I'd say

Gaitan 22m
Hazard 35m
Martinez 30m

Probably not far off.

Then just buy Hazard and Martinez and we're SET.

Sell some dead weight for £15m, net spend (I sound like a scouser) of £50m is absolutely realistic.

And both have a "z" in their name, how cool isn't that?

Oh wait... Tevez, Heinze. Crap, deal's off.

Christ, another dud.

If anything it should tell us to stay clear

We're you dropped on your head a lot when you were young, or are you just really obnoxious?

£50m on transfer fees but what about wages and signing on fees? £90k a week wages at least, call it £180k for the both.

Out:

PIG: £20k wages
Macheda £20k?
Owen £sod all
Park £40k

So we'd be looking at another £5.2m a year in wages. If you've seen the finances we're already tight on the wages in terms of keeping it under 50%.

Berbatov will probably go, despite me not wanting him to. That's around 90k right there I believe.

Yep Berba is on 90k. Owen earns 50 000 every week he plays a game unless they changed his contract when he signed a new one last summer. Park is most likely on 60-65k a week.

Add to that if Rio renews he'll surely be taking a pay cut.

I don't think wages would be that big an issue when signing 2 new players. Scholes and Giggs will inevitably move on (not this Summer), they're both on pretty hefty sums too.

Oh, and of course, we're selling Vidic :D

Wages unlikely to be an issue with the number of players likely to move out this season.
