I've now watched a couple of Benfica games mainly to see Garay in action but i was quite impressed with Gaitan, he could be quite useful on our left wing and for me he is superior to Young and even Nani.

I rated him when we were linked last season. There were better options to go for, as we know. I think you will find most would still prefer Rodriguez for star quality. Gaitan seems like a more reliable version of Ben Arfa to make a lazy comparison.

We'll be selling a couple of players - Anderson & Nani - and even if we don't, there's plenty of money in our accounts to buy a midfielder and a winger.
Schalke have never sold a player for a big fee I think and Malaga are in deep trouble financially, they need to sell whoever they can get a decent fee for which is why Arsenal managed to get Monreal and Cazorla for decent prices. Benfica, however, have recently managed to receive £21m for Luiz, €30m for Di Maria, €30m for Coentrao and €35m for Witsel. I'm not sure Gaitan would be cheaper at all, let alone much cheaper.

He was never ever going to get that ball with a header, let alone a flying jump kick. Very very surprised he didn't get a yellow atleast. The players called for the stretcher/Medic immediately as I think the player (he was the RB for Fener) was out before he hit the ground.
He seems to be playing more as a #10 than a striker now, can't see where he'd be any use to us.

Looks to me like he could easily play on either wing as a sort of winger/playmaker hybrid like Giggs back in 2006. Plays very similarly to that version of Giggs actually. Lots of flicks, always looking for the killer ball, equally capable of gliding past a man or picking out a pass from deep.
I think we already have Kagawa for that with added penalty box presence. Nothing to see here.

Interesting, admittedly I've only seen him 3 times this season so I couldn't judge him fairly, do you think he could be outstanding enough in that role to warrant the money he'd cost? or were you just making a general observation about him?

I don't know, he's not really impressed me in the two legs of the EL semi or the final, I think there are better options out there.
