He will surely score in the 2nd half. We can't have a loanee NOT score this week.

Used as a striker again?
Better than no games I suppose. Haven't Wigan got Holt to play there?

Scored a free header off a keeper mistake, rubbish search engine meant I got beaten by this cretin up here.

Awful celebration.

How is his general play? Has he done well at Wigan? Potentially good enough for us?

Well he's playing as a striker, which is... Not great. We clearly saw him as a CM and he'd never get a game up front for us

Not sure how he's doing at Wigan, but did very well tonight

Used as a striker from what I've seen so far. Strong, deceptively quick and good link-up play. You can't base your opinion on his Wigan performances so far as he's not playing where we want him to (probably) but I'd say he's one of those kids whom you expect to make it.

Sounds neat.

Let's stick him out wide then.

I'd say yes, but only potentially. He's hit and miss, and, when playing in the reserves, sometimes didn't have enough impact on the game. He's got bags of talent, but is still a work in progress.

Did he play as striker again tonight? Obviously looks as though he did from the first goal but he picked it up quite deep on the 2nd.

Second goal is brilliant. I'd prefer to see him in midfield but the main thing is he's playing.

He played well tonight but he just isn't a number 9 to me. He's an attacking midfielder in my eyes and that's where he grew up playing like that but due to Wigan's lack of fire-power it's no surprise they're playing him up front. Seen him play the deeper role in midfield a few times and he's done well too so we'll see where he ends up playing on a long term basis but I think it'll definitely be as a midfielder. He's got a great shot on him though.

He's 19, its important enough that he's showcasing his talent. Moving back into a deeper position will come.

That's it for me. You've been great, everybody.

Well you've ticked over to 10,001 now so either delete one or you're here until 20k I'm afraid.

Yeh I agree. I'd like to see him get game time in midfield given that's where we keep getting told his future lies but if he can't get in there the next best thing is that he's at least playing.

It's nice that players like Barkley/Powell are showing that English players can actually have the initiative and desire to drive forward.

Yes at 19 it's positive that he's playing and playing well, regardless of position. Even if he doesn't drop deeper to become a regular midfielder until he's say, 23, that still gives him plenty of time.

For me the main problem with him as a CM is when he would make passes over about 5 yards. The short ones he's been pretty good with, but they seemed to go a bit wonky when he'd try and play someone through or switch the play. I dont imagine he'll develop that much playing as a striker

Heartening thing is that it looks like unlike the first team transfers, we've gotten most of our loan out transfers spot on. Looks like most of the players are getting good game time. Even Macheda is getting games for once.

Today you mean? Didn't see the game but he's probably still rusty after his operation and lack of pre-season. His range of passing is normally very good.
