Nick Powell

Seen a few rumours on the internet that he may be joining Peterborough on loan for the rest of the season.

Apparently, he may have been at their game on Saturday.

Seems a lot more realistic to me. He's not really ready at 18 to be starting for any Premiership sides, especially as those in a relegation fight will want experience not kids and those in midtable are above his current level by a distance.

It's much better with loan moves for players to go to clubs where they're definitely going to play than to send them to a club where they have to fight for their place (eg. Macheda to Sampdoria). You also want clubs who aren't fighting relegation because they're more prepared to take a risk on inexperienced players.

I think he's looked decent when he's played and 18 is still very young. Most players who do come through at 18 are players who's game is massive based on pace like Owen, Sterling, Walcott and Giggs. Players who are going to be more technical players tend to break into the first team in their early 20s rather than late teens.

Would like to see him move on loan but Im not sure if Peterborough would be a good move, might not be a great environment to play imo, especially if they continue to struggle.

Tunnicliffe and Wooton went there last season, and Tunnicliffe in particular put in some great performances. He got a load of game time and really looked like he progressed and made good use of the opportunity.

I'd love to see Powell get a chance there.

My thoughts as well. Scholes is only likely to be here for another six months and Powell can learn a lot more from having him around and seeing him train/play than from playing regularly in a different position for Peterborough.

I think it's extremely likely Scholes will become a coach with us on retirement anyway.

Where is Nick Powell?

Anyone know where has he disappeared? Hasn't made the bench in a while. If I remember correctly, Tunnicliffe was on the bench ahead of him for one of the Christmas fixtures. There were rumors of a loan move to Posh but reports yesterday suggest that Wootton and Petrucci are going there.

Where the hell is he? Is he injured?

In his last game he had a heavy fall and was struggling. I was at the game so this is how I know, but I'm not sure if it was picked up on the tv commentary or not. He seemed to be holding his ribs and shoulder. Im just wondering if he hasnt cracked a rib or something like that.

Darren Ferguson -

'There have been rumours about Nick Powell, I have no idea where they have come from, it is not going to happen, he is injured anyway and I am not too sure my father will be letting him out on-loan anyway."

According to my sources*he's injured at the minute.

Darren Ferguson

It's weird that Sir Alex hasn't said anything about his injury, that quote pretty much answers all questions at the moment though.

Interesting that Darren doesn't think Sir Alex will want to loan him out, hopefully that means when fit he plans on involving him in the matchday squads.

I hope he gets loaned out personally, can't see him being involved much, would be good to get him some more games now and then hopefully next season he can have a bigger role in the squad.

Yeah I hope he gets loaned out too. A top half championship that will give him regular first team football would be good for him. If they get promoted, let him have another season there.

Played in the reserves tonight, saw a few minutes and he looked stronger, bigger and above all class.

A future star-no doubt!

Yeah, Junior Fergie confirmed it.

He has played 2 BCD games before today, and travelled to Qatar so really should be match fit by now.

Has filled out even more and started to resemble Lampard almost, but is a good all round footballer. Was playing more further upfront than we utilize him today, but looked to have the ability to step it up when he wanted to too before getting knackered around 60/70 minutes.

Good to hear he is back from injury now. Hopefully he gets plenty of minutes with the reserves and can pick up a couple of games of the bench during the rest of the season.

Good to see him on the bench again today.

Would have been nice if we finished them off and then he would have gotten on.

I'm sure he'll get plenty of chances in the last few games. It's been a decent season for a young talent like him.

Has it? I think he's a promising talent but I expected him to make more appearances than he has.

Yeah he must be a bit annoyed he's not got as much game time as he could have. Must have needed to be brought upto technical scratch with us, I feel this season will do him a lot of favours in the long run but has probably been frustrating for him.

He's only 18 isn't he? Very promising but wasn't likely to get too many games unless we had a run in the league cup. True that he could have done with more football this season though. Wouldn't be surprised to see a loan next season.

wait a minute....he only started to play for league one crewe with 17 appearances in the 2010/11 season, there's no way he was going to get many games this season. He's a work in progress if ever there was one...

From the newbies...

Got an acquaintance who's in close contact with him, he's a football agent starting out and is working with youngsters, especially ones from Crewe Alexandria. Recently he spoke to Nick and he said he's bored at the moment at United, and he's not getting the amount of games he's wanted.

He's also confident that he's better than most of the midfielders here in training, didn't know if he's referring to the reserves or the first team, but he wants more game time and should expect more next season.

He also said that the stories concerning Rooney leaving are absolute bullshit, him and Fergie bum each other. So for all those doubters who expect him to leave, think again

No one is saying otherwise.

Bit of a shame just seeing him playing ressies football though. Shame he didn't get a loan to the Champo.

He'll be loaned out next season. Prem loan, i think if he can get one.

Meh, he's 18. He'll wait his turn and be grateful for it.

That's probably fake. I doubt Powell is "bored" I'm sure Fergie has spoken him through his development, and Powell will get more games as time goes on.

I would be shocked if he wasn't a bit bored, to be honest. If he has the hunger he should be a bit frustrated... That is not to say it is a major concern.

With a bit of luck we might sow up the league with a few games to go which would provide a great opportunity for the likes of Powell, and maybe Thorpe and even Januzaj.

The Peterborough chairman was on sky sports news during the January transfer window and he said they was very interested to loan him but he had a a injury at the time and wasn't likely we would allow him to, so no doubt he will have a loan next season providing he is fit.
