OK, who do you think will win the second round matchups?

Nashville - Vancouver (in six)
Detroit - San José (in seven)
Tampa - Washington (in six)
Boston - Philadelphia (in seven)

Going with the favourites here I guess.
 
You think San Jose will beat Detroit? I have a hard time seeing the Wings, who seem to come healthy to this series, go out to them again. Especially since they have a chip on their shoulder since last year.

Not really sure there is clear favorites in the East TBH. Only four points separated the top five play off teams in the regular season. And that four point spread was Washington down to Tampa, which was mainly as a result of a few injuries and bad patch near the end of the season for Tampa.
 
Washington just has so much star power and have done well in recent years (in the regular season at least). I would be happy to see Tampa advance though. Everyone talks about their sub-par defense, but I think it's quite underrrated. Guys like Brewer, Öhlund and Hedman etc are nice to have in the playoffs even if they don't put up a ton of points. Also like what Yzerman did to give them better depth. Their lower lines used to be horrible, but now guys like Moore and Bergenheim have come up big for them.

If Roloson does well against the Caps they might just progress. But I would still put my money on Washington.


Bit of a boring game between Nashville and Vancouver right now. Canucks dominating and Rinne is amazingly keeping the game at 0-0 so far. Bad reffing. Oh, 1-0 Vancouver now.
 
Is it just me or is the number of incidents of diving in the NHL going up...?
 
Yep, and that's not even the first dive in this game. I also noticed it happening too often for my liking in the Rangers-Caps series. Definitely not the direction I'd like to see the NHL go.

Yeah, the Sharks will dump them out again.
 
When will Philly learn, they spend like 20-25 million dollars on centers and peanuts on goalies.... Dump some firepower and grab a goalie. Just look at Rinne keeping his team in the matches, Nashville wouldn't even be in the playoffs without him.

Noticed yesterday that Crosby don't seem to be doing better, still has a concussion he claims. I'm not a Crosby fan boi but would be a shame if the best hockey player in the world ends up with a Lindros career because of concussions. Colorado's Peter Mueller is still not recovered after Rob Blake smashed him into the boards last season and there is doubts if he will ever return.

And how the feck could Sweden lose vs Norway in the World Championship, pathetic...

Rinne is fantastic though, that has to be said. Looks impossible to beat glove side.

Losing the first competitive game to Norway in Swedish hockey history. Can't think of many worse starts as far as hockey coaching goes.

WC is really full of surprises...Russia almost blew it against Slovenia... and already lost to Germany, we did the same... Switzerland beating France in OT...

lol... Bs win in o.t. and go home with 2-0 lead. i think the Bs out played them in the first two but the third was all flyers. o.t. was leaning toward philly until the goal. GO Bs!

now if the Mavs can beat the lakers it will be a great sports night.
 
sigh...it was expected, but still.

Down 2-0 to the lightning. I thought we had momentum after the last equalizer in the 3rd period, but not to be, Lightning with the OT goal.

Another year of playoff failure. United will choke too.
 
Lightning have only allowed one goal in 47 power plays in the play offs.
 
Caps are so soft. Fourth straight year they were bounced by a lower seed. Built for the regular season not the postseason.

So long to Philly and Detroit as well.
 
Bolts lead the caps most of the season. A couple of injuries and inexperienced players cost the Bolts for a few weeks.

The seeds don't mean much IMO, nothing between the top five.
 
Man these second round have stunk up the joint. But thank god the Flyers are out, and taken their awful fans with them.

Don't really care who wins at this point, not keen on any team left....Red Wings comeback would be awesome though, but it's probably Canucks to lose, Chicago gonna come out of this playoffs looking like the second best team overall, good signs for next year.

This true though, they even added D this year. But the mentality just isn't there, use Semin and Backstrom as bait, get one of the legit D-men available, let Green be the crazy offensive d-man he really is. Settle on Neuvirth and let Varlomov go, they are already better off.

Being the closet Wings fan that I am, I would love to see Lidström lift his fifth cup, but I don't see them doing it. Even the Sharks can't choke that hard.
 
Yeah, should be a great game. 3 AM CET though! Fecking Western Conference. I'll probably fall asleep.
 
Damn, the Wings are getting slaughtered in the first. They can't seem to get anything going. The Sharks look amazing.
