Nhl 2010-2011

Rangers outscored the Capitals 17-6 in the season series so there's a chance.. That said, Ryan Callahan is probably our most important player and Lundqvist is hurting and has played something like 20+ straight games after Biron went down for the season, so there's a lot going against us. If a guy like Gaborik steps up and actually starts scoring goals, there's definitely a chance though.

Alright gents, for the few of us that actually visit this thread, what about some playoff predictions?

Upsets? Who is this years Leino? Will San Jose make it past the second round?

For the love of all that is holy, please make an appearance*.

*= I mean that beard attempt.

Rigged lottery, only second pick:p

The Senators fans are livid:lol:

West:
Chicago
San Jose
Detroit
Anaheim

East:
Washington
Philly
Boston
Tampa

I agree with this except Nucks will beat Chicago and Penguins will just edge it vs Tampa. Nashville,Phoenix and Buffalo might cause a upset though.

Tbh I quite like that the Devils won the lottery. They had an amazing season from when Lemaire took over and now they get rewarded for not tanking/sucking. Poetic justice in a way :)

Who do you want Colorado to draft with the second overall pick Richter? Can't believe the Avs will be picking second. Way to good of a team to finish 29th.

Agree with this except that I see Vancouver beating Chicago.

I also think there's a chance that the Coyotes manage to eliminate the Wings who have not looked good at all down the stretch and it looks like Zetterberg won't be able to play in the first round. Phoenix has impressed me when I've seen them this year and look like a team 'built for the playoffs' even if they don't have an abundance of star power.

Avs really need a new goalie next season and less injuries....

My pick at second overall
1 Larsson
2 Landeskog
3 Nugent-Hopkins

It really depends on who Oilers pick at first, Nugent-Hopkins or Larsson. Nugent-Hopkins is a great player but Avs already got plenty of short centers. Avs need more big D-men which Larsson would add and Landeskog could replace Chris Stewart. Avs also got the 11th pick, Puempel or Siemens would be my pick with the 11th pick. Zibanejad is ranked 10 now in some lists, wouldn't mind him at all but like I said Avs are stocked at center.

11th? Oh, is that the Blues pick? Galler-Mika is just as good on the wing IMO. Sky's the limit and all that. Would be a great pick. It will be interesting to see how he does at the U-18's that start in a couple of days.

Yeah, Landeskog would probably be a great fit to play with one of Duchene or Stasny. Colorado and New Jersey both have way too good teams to be picking this early. Maybe the Elliot trade was a tactical masterstroke hehe.

Yep that's the Blues pick. I knew Mika could play wing just didn't think it was natural for him. Haha yeah the Elliott trade, tons of Avs fans went to Sens forums last night to say thanks for Elliott, Sens fans didn't enjoy it. Avs better not resign him though!

Landeskog would most likely play with Mueller if he's fit and Stastny. Duchene will play with Fleischmann and Hejduk if they both return. Hmmm where do I put David Jones...

Some surprise wins so far, Montreal,Buffalo and Nashville all because of great goaltending and Lundqvist almost stole one in Washington.

I take back what I said about the Detroit - Phoenix series. Detroit will win it. Datsyuk and Franzén looked great in the first game. And they have great depth. There's just an unrivaled level of experience and maturity there that will see the Wings will themselves to the the WCF at least. It's United-like, if you know what I mean.

Now watch me change my mind tomorrow

Is it humanely possible to dislike Datsyuk? Incredible hands (and by incredible I mean arguably the best of all time), Works hard, immense defensively and has a knack for scoring the pretties goals you'll ever see. I don't think there's a player I'd like on my team ahead of him if you take away the age factor.

Pens are looking good for a team with a 8,7 mil player and a 9 mil player out.

Fleury is again proving to be a big game goalie and I really like their defense.

A Boston empty netter goal ruined my NHL bet, I freakin hate empty net goals as a NHL gambler.

I never bet on hockey anymore.. I find it too unpredictable compared to football.

I have won a fair bit this winter, yeah its lotto but can't beat the excitement. I could do without empy netters though...

Goalies are so important that an off-game or a great game by a single player can throw everything out the window. And some results are just incomprehensible. You get a team like Detroit losing 10-3 to St Louis all of a sudden. It's like United losing 6-2 at Villa or something.. just doesn't happen.

That's my excuse for losing money anyhow hehe.

Yeah I had under 5,5 goals in the Montreal-Boston match and suddenly Thomas and Price both looked human. Price with 2 bad goals and Thomas one. All other tonights matches I had over 4,5 goals but didn't dare putting that on the Montreal-Bruins game:facepalm

I don't think Loungo likes that song all that much ;)

They are killing the Canucks tonight, but it's just too little too late from the Hawks really. Can't see them battling back now.

Sedin's need to step up their game in the playoffs if they want to go far this year.

Can the Sharks be any less 'clutch'. It's just so ridiculous at this point.

Every single year.

The thing is Thornton and the likes love the Cali life style. They earn millions walking around in shorts most of the year and then they get a 4 month vacation in April when they get time to spend the millions they earn. Lucky bastards:D

Edit* And after I post this Sharks makes it 5-5. Quick is the best goalie in the league as long as his shutout is intact and then when he concedes one he just collapses at times like tonight.

And Sharks win it in OT, biggest playoff comeback win in NHL since 1985 apparently.

Hehe.. Rangers fans shouting "Can you hear us??" at Bruce Boudreau after his comments in the media about the how quiet the MSG is.

3-0 to the Rangers after 2.

Edit: Aaaaand the Caps fight back to tie it and finally win in the 2nd OT period after a terrible play by Gaborik who basically steals the puck from Lundqvist and assists Chimera for the tap in.

Great game, but shitty ending.

Caps!

feck Yeah!

We won't win anything again this season...so many good regular seasons, only to choke like Arsenal when it really matters :(

Bruce Boudreau reminds me of Arsene Wenger in all the worst ways. The Caps won't win a thing with him in charge - he's got a truly terrible mentality for a head coach. The sooner they're shot of him, the better for the future of their franchise. I reckon when they miss out on the Finals once again, he'll be fired.

As for last night's game, that was really quite depressing. You can't lose 3 goal leads in the NHL playoffs if you want to succeed. And the game winner.. that was just unfortunate in every sense of the word. I think that was the first game in which the young age of the Rangers truly showed.

Chicago about to make it 3-2 in matches to Canucks after being down 3-0. I can't decide which NHL team that is usually best at bottling it Arsenal style in the playoffs, Capitals,Canucks or Sharks? They all probably will advance this round but they don't make it easy on themselves....

How is that even a question...Sharks have choked BIG TIME twice, and then got swept by the Hawks, Canucks have lost twice in close series to a pretty stacked Hawks team, and Caps have only choked once really last year(The Pens-Caps series was brilliant, and not remotely a choke, just a great series between the two best teams that year for me). Sharks also have Captain Choke himself.

Even if the Canucks ended up losing this, I dunno if I'd say they'll be in the Sharks class, maybe I guess, but 3 times against Hawks looks better than the Ducks, Stars and getting swept by the Hawks to me. Caps losing to Rangers from 3-1 would put them on par with Sharks though probably, as would the Bruins losing to the Habs, but they shouldn't now.

fecking brilliant games from the Hawks, don't think they'll win, but they've beaten the confidence out of this Canucks team, so it's possible now.

Bs even it up with montreal after an absolute terrible first period. they were much better in the second and third. won it in o.t.. GO Bs!!

Sedins, Sedins.. this is why I have had a hard time liking them. They are awesome to watch when they are on their game but never seem to step up to the plate when it really matters, whether it's in the playoffs for the Canucks or for Sweden internationally. It's like having two Thorntons on the same first line.

Daniel is 4th in playoff points though, Perry deserves the Hart imo the guy is in beast mode atm 8 points in 4 matches.
