Nhl 2010-2011

Well it may be play off season in the NHL and chances of my beloved Oilers turning up in the show at the moment is as likely as me being picked to play at Wembley next Saturday.

However, it's good to see that we've got our agreement with the Edmonton government to build our new arena, the deal means we'll be seeing NHL hockey in Oil Country for the next 35 years.... We've just got to cross the T's and dot the i's before we move on to the build. Though that does include asking Northlands to get out of the Arena game, and finding another $100m, but apart from that all systems go for 2014...

And I for one will welcome watching the New Winnipeg Jets lay the smack down on the Oil in you new building, in an attempt to make up for a decade of first round losses to Gretzky's crew back in the 80's

Every single bloody year...

Don't be jealous, we were only getting our own back for you stealing the glory of winning the last ever AVCO.... You weren't the only team who suffered at the hands of that team.

Mind you for what they did to you, look through the late 90's and Dallas did exactly the same to the Oilers. I hate Dallas for all those play-off defeats. Still about as much chance of that happening at the moment as pigs flying.

a tale of two periods...Boston gets three in the first and tampa gets three in the second. Boston's turn to get three. let's see what happens.

If Tampa manage to win this game the momentum will swing their way. The Tampa home ice really doesn't suit their play so I will take a 2-2 tie with two games to play in Boston.

I'm going on a limb here, and should have done this earlier, but it's going to be Boston and Vancouver in the finals, with Boston winning.

San Jose had a killer series with the Wings and whilst they may have taken one game I can't see them taking any more. The Bruins are putting together a nice run, and for once I wouldn't mind them winning the whole thing. That would leave us waiting for the Rangers to win it again to add more salt into the wounds of Montreal and Toronto....

I fancy the lightnings chances now. They are far stronger on the road winning 6 of the last 7. The game they lost was pretty close in the end. They are having a lot of problems with the ice down in Tampa. The outside temperatures are an issue at this time of year.

Brian Rafalski is retiring. He's had a hell of a career for someone who didn't break into the league until he was 26.

I wonder what Detroit will do with all that cap space..

Wow if Lidström goes too they have one hell of a job to do.

Wouldn't be surprised to see them sign Ehrhoff. Seems like the perfect replacement for Rafalski.

Lidström won't be easy to replace. I think he'll play another season though. He's not the player he was, but he is a Norris nominee, maybe even winner this year after all.

Yeah but if Ehrhoff wins the Cup he might do what many Cup winners seem to do to and just go after the big money now that he has his ring. Columbus need a player like him and could throw a ton of cash at him. Lidas will most likely play on another year though.

Good point, but I still think they could get it done. Rafalski's cap hit was 6+ million and now they really need help on the back end. Not sure the marginally better salary in Columbus would sway a guy like that to choose a perennial bottom feeder over one of the best teams in the league.

Other than Ehrhoff there's Pitkänen who is a good player, but has some mental issues. Seems like a pretty weak FA class this year.

One of the best saves I have ever seen. If this had occurred in the finals, or in the Cup winning game, it would be ranked as arguably the greatest ever.

So Vancouver are in the final. I've been complaining about them on here, but I've got to admit that the Sedins really stepped up in the WCF. Henrik had 12 points in 5 games.

That was a phenomenal save no doubt.

Awesome save, he kept them in the game in the first period as well. I think The Bruins went about 14 minutes without taking a shot on goal at one point. They managed to be out played much of the game and came away with a win.

Great series so far lets hope there is a game seven.

Yeah... and I'm always complaining about Luongo, saying he often looks shakey in big games... and despite getting burned on the 2nd Sharks goal, he played pretty well in overtime when the Sharks seemed in control.

Awesome series. Lightning should have buried this series already, had a shot advantage in every game. Just shows you how important a good goal tender is in Stanley Cup hockey.

Right guys.. Are you watching tonight? I think Tampa wins this one 4-2 after scoring 2 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game. :p

wide open and crazy start to the game. this doesn't fit the Bruins. i don't like it. at least tampa didn't score in the first minute.

COME ON BRUINS!!

Great period of hockey. Loving the intensity. Both goalies doing well so far. Apparently Roloson is 7-0 in elimination games which is a tied NHL record.

Very fast pace the first period. Surely they can't play two more periods at that pace. It should suit Tampa though, they're lighter and faster plus their 2nd and 3rd lines are solid.

Yep, and the Bolts are 4-0 in game sevens as well I believe.

Bruins defending rally well. One goal will probably win this at this rate.

stamkos wearing a cage now. second player that's worn one this playoffs (the other a Bruin). cages really ought to be mandatory like they are in college and some lower leagues.

Malhotra will also wear a cage if he makes back in time for the finals, which is now looking possible.

It's silly that visors aren't even mandatory yet IMO.
